Thank you for commenting. I have two 12V 55lb thrust motors. I don’t know that I would advise the same approach I would prefer a single 36 or 48v brushless with 120-160 lbs. thrust. The overall cost would likely only be about a 3rd more and some are designed to be used as primary propulsion.
The pontoon is 24ft. I use two group 27 12v deep cycle batteries. Run time greatly depends on speed. At cruise, about 30%, it is a few hours. At full speed it is probably about an hour. Honestly I don’t have a lot of time on the water with this setup. I pulled it out of the water in early November. Hoping to get back around April with improvements.
Hi Sean. Love the setup. I have a 24’ riviera cruiser I just picked up and was thinking to do similar. What thrust are your two trolling motors? Also do you have a way I can contact you ? I would love to possible buy similar setup but I don’t have a 3D printer. Thanks!
Adam, sorry for the delay. Mine happens to be a riviera from the ‘80 that has been stripped down and re-decked. I don’t know that I would recommend the exact same approach. 24v motors would do much better I expect. I would love to go to something brushless. The thrust is only ok. Went with the duals partly because It allowed me to only buy one per year. I was also hoping it would allow me to use differential thrust, however these motors have vastly more power going forward than in reverse.
Thank you for your interest. Didn’t really intend to stop, just life lol. I have been planning to do a follow up as I have had a good few seasons out of the motor mount and am ready to try something different using the same motors. I am still not sure how I want to set it up, lots of ideas and very little time. I have been thinking about making a video with my current thoughts.
Awesome job!!
Thanks!

What size trolling motors did you use?

Thank you!
Is it a 14ft? How long does it run?
