I so enjoyed watching this and smiling the whole time. I was privileged to be shadowing Andy Ackerman as a director on several episodes. I got to hang out in the stands with Alec and Jeff and Spike and David while network notes were happening. They were all so fun and funny. And Jerry was bringing a different one of his 26 porches to the lot each week (or day? I can't recall). Anyway, thanks guys, sorry to have lost touch over the years.
I watch Seinfeld every day, next to the Office.😙
46 Porsches. Lets be accurate.

Kramer auditioning to play Kramer and not getting the part is the most Kramer thing possible
The real Kramer, Kenny Kramer was on an episode of the people's court 🤣
Kinda like on the show - episode lol
Kramer.
Woooooow so meta!!!!!! ur amazinglyy smart!
So meta
The whole Kramer thing is so Meta. The real Kramer, works out weird business ideas and promotional activities based oh his character being used in a sitcom...which is exactly what the Kramer character would do.
Pure Kramer Fantasy🤣🤣👍
Which is also exactly what the real Kramer would do! Kramerception!
wait a minute , if all this is true then it was not a show about nothing , it was actually the opposite and it was a show based on people and events that actually existed , so it was not a show about nothing .
@@marleonetti7 yeah but the events are so "every day life",..that it still feels like a show about nothing,..in particular.

The casting director should receive some kind of an award. Almost of all the supporting actors were equally fantastic along with the main cast.
I've always wondered how they found actors that were so good at playing quirky characters.
I think I read that Larry David picked those supporting actors.

I don’t think people appreciate how good Seinfeld was. it was on for 9 seasons and literally every episode is a classic.
Over and over I'll think of some classic Seinfeld bit and go look up the episode it was from and find that it was the same episode that had like three other iconic bits in it. It's overflowing with brilliance.
I don't know, I thought the show was missing something the last seasons, And then later I learned it was because Larry David left the show.
It was okay, but time hasn't been terribly kind to it. Anyone who needs/appreciates a laugh track in 2023 is a simpleton. Times change and it's a classic, but it isn't the greatest ever, nor is it underappreciated. Curb is on what... 11 seasons? I forget, and same style, funnier, better characters, just more modern overall. Different strokes but i can't remember the last time i felt like intentionally rewatching any episode of Seinfeld.
@@sebastiandingleswitch3757 Conversely, anyone who can't get past a laugh track and realize how completely brilliant Seinfeld was for its time and within its medium, might be a simpleton. And it still holds up wonderfully. People quote it or reference its plots all the time because they're so timeless and still relatable. Is the Mona Lisa only meh because it's not 3D rendered in 8K? Screw Duke Ellington - his stuff is so dated and it's not even digitally recorded. Rubbish!
The more recent show feels more modern, eh? What insight! Have you considered a career in TV criticism?
Curb is not at all the same style as Seinfeld. In fact, it's the opposite style. Seinfeld is a "multi-camera" sitcom. Curb is a "single camera". You're basically saying a stage play and a film are the same thing.
@@sebastiandingleswitch3757 I still watch Seinfeld a few times a week. Started watching around 1994 when i was 9 years old.
The fact that the actor who played Jackie Chiles actually knew Johnnie Cochran makes it even better. I mean what a coincidence
The actor who played Jackie Child's is the son of mission impossibles actor Greg Morris👍
@@joannpierce5865 wow! This is crazy!

Not a coincidence, powerful families with conections watch out for their own.
P. Jordan- Absolutely!
“By fictionalizing what was a true story, you actually got to meet Jon Voight.” Gold.
That’s gold, Jerry! Gold!
But did Voight really bite an annoying fan ??
I wouldn't blame him.
There's a Seinfeld episode for every situation in life.
The one sketch that Larry got on the air at SNL was about some architects designing a building and 1 of them put a chair in the elevator for the elevator operator and the owner of the building hating it and demanding it be removed and them arguing about it. Of course Larry did something similar later on Seinfeld with the chair for a worker to sit.
And apparently Larry would also like to pretend to be an architect?!
@@bzporto “you know I always wanted to pretend to be an architect”
This is why Larry is different, he can sense the slightest human suffering.
@@HolyCanoley I love that line, and Jerrys reply, Are you sensing anything right now?🤣🤣🤣 I love that episode of the Security Guard, George concerned cuz he didn't have anything to sit on 🤣 The ending was hilariously priceless 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍💜
SNL would have been a lot more consistently funny if Larry had stayed, IMO
I always figured the plots were either exaggerated versions of what happened to David at some point, or something he heard about someone else. And George Costanza is the greatest sitcom character of all time.
Wow, never thought about that until now. I'd agree, George is King.
george is very certainly right up there, truly hilarious. alexander himself admitted when he first did goerge he was half doing a woody allen shtick, and you can see thta in the first few episodes, he then found the character, which of course does include an obvious amount of woody allen in it, but george is no intrellectual and isnt even trying / or pretending to be a good person either...
When the show added in George’s dad Frank
(maybe a little of his mother) it finally became clear why George was the way he is... Serenity Now

i had forgotten how good Jerry Stiller was..All of his movements and mannerisms are baked into the character in the same way as his voice.. Truly amazing.

It must really blow Dan O'Keefe's dad's mind how many people ended up knowing what Festivus is.

This makes the Seinfeld series even cooler knowing that their stories for the episodes came from real life! I guess its true what they say about writing what you know!
That first "take the pen" was so perfectly delivered
i think this is one of the main reasons that the show was very successful .. because most of the time people can relate to the stories .. a brilliant idea
I was actually the opposite and thought that this stuff never happens in reality, but still loved every episode lol. I'm blown away watching this and seeing this is their life stories on screen
Which makes it even funnier about the episode where they say the show is about nothing
They took it a step further and used names tweaked from real life ppl so it doesn't sound fake. Jan Jarmel = Jake Jarmel is one example
i love Seinfeld and i love Larry David.. i just binged all seasons of Seinfeld for first time ever 6 months ago... when it ended i was sad that i will never see a brand new seinfeld episode. and now i am currently watching Curb Your Enthusiam first time through. Fantastic Shows.

My local council requested names for our lane.
Neighbours and I wrote council and were successful in getting it named "Festivus Lane"

3:38 the art of acting without acting. Having said that....Jason Alexander brought life to George.
It’s more of a pamphlet than a book, no? Jason was kinda the best on that show, I don’t think anyone could’ve done as well. As Larry proved in curb when he tried to replace Jason in the Seinfeld reunion lol. “Nooo?! Nooo! Ho-hoooo!”
But your still acting?
Can't believe he didn't win an Emmy. It's an outrage.

So your telling me one of the best tv shows of all time is just a bunch of inside jokes between friends and colleagues aired for the world to see.. and it worked!

There's no way this guy's like the real Kramer -
Larry David: "He gave a whole list of demands he wanted for using his name"
OK wow spot on
Larry calling someone else “eccentric” is probably the funniest thing about this video
The WRITING is what separated Seinfeld from dreck like Friends, Frasier and even Cheers. Seinfeld allowed these wacky writers to push the envelope, see how much they could get away with, and literally write absurdist humor, as opposed to endless "relationship shows" and "who's sleeping with who" merry go rounds.
The entire Season 4 story arc from The Pitch to The Pilot etc where they literally spoof the whole idea that NBC allowed them to write a sitcom "about nothing", in the process not only making fun of NBC, but the President of NBC (Warren Littlefield) for approving Seinfeld was absolutely pure genius that will never be duplicated again on major prime time network TV. Its amazing they were allowed to do that and run with it.
Keep Frasier's name out yo fkin mouth!
God I hated Friends, Frasier and Cheers. Not to mention Night Court and Mash.
Yes Seinfeld truly was enjoyable to watch.
@@brandonly27
Mash's early years with Trapper, Blake and Ferret Face were good imo. After those characters left, it declined. I agree re the other shows.
When I'm feeling down and need a laugh I watch episodes of Seinfeld. There's not very many shows that make you laugh almost immediately. Every character can make you laugh.
Just knowing all these episodes were based on real life scenarios made them even better! Like that was even possible.
These are some great interviews, thanks. Most of all, I'm happy to find out that a father really did invent Festivus and impose it on his family, and that he, Dan O'Keefe's dad, is proud that millions now celebrate his holiday worldwide.
Best show ever. It’s probably the only show I ever seen over n over so many of times through the years, yet it never gets old
so much iconic dialogue. The best writing.
This is a great compilation; thanks for putting it together. I've seen the cast and Larry David talking about the show, but it's cool to here more from the staff writers, and to get a sense of how each of them contributed to the story from their lives.
This is gold.
Seinfeld : why did you tell her, you idiot!
Again, Seinfeld: alright go back to her and see what she says. We’ll have our next scene.
Also loved all the writers, especially the festivus one. He could have acted as a character.

Yooooo this was fkn GREAT!!!!!!
Talk about lightning in a bottle, I never knew how much I actually loved this series until watching and hearing the writers takes in turn making it even more relatable
Jeff Schaffer and Alec Berg talking about the award show story with "the dude" killed me those guys bounce off eachother so naturally.
This was such a special show. There hasn't been a sitcom before or since that was able to consistently knock it out of the park every single episode the way Seinfeld did. The way the show went out while it was at its ratings peak makes it just that much better. There was no long slow decline or getting pushed aside by something better that came along. It became the best sitcom in its first season, stayed on top year after year and was the best it had ever been when they called it quits. If I recall correctly NBC was so desperate to hang on to the show that they were offering the cast something like $5 million an episode to keep going. Hard to imagine turning that offer down but they did and that just makes the show even cooler in my view. Jerry, George, Elaine, Kramer, Newman, Mr. Peterman and all the rest- Thanks for all the laughs.
Friends after season 2 did it
comparing Seinfeld with Friends is like comparing a Lamborghini with Nissan/kia. Seinfeld is actually a sitcom with “com”. Friends is nowhere close.
Jerry decided to call it quits, Jason is quite bitter over both that and Jerry's decisions with the money.
@@simik4981 wtf does that even mean lol. A com is in comedy? Look at the ratings for Friends even now. That is a juggernaut

The Marble Rye story is actually a true story that happened in my family. My Aunt became engaged to someone called "Lenny the Goon" (that is what my family called him. His parents were on the wealthy side. This being the early forties my grandparents were still recovering from the depression and did not have so much money, When their daughter became engaged to Lenny, the parents of the bride-to-be were invited to dinner at the groom-to-be's parents' home. They thought it would be nice to bring marbled rye with them as a welcoming gesture. The host failed to [ut the marbled rye out on the dinner table which not only offended my grandparents but also they were looking forward to having some of this prized delicious delicacy. Well, a fight ensued during dinner over other issues and my grandparents got up to leave. Someone went into the kitchen and spied to the prize atop the refrigerator and they took it and left. It did not fly out of the window, although that is quite funny. My cousin Neil was a writer for many television shows and I am sure he told it other writers which is how the story came to the producers of the Seinfeld show. We have laughed at this story since the 1940s in my family.
Thanks for sharing! That's hilarious!

I noticed that Elaine was looking at the travel section of the Los Angeles Times newspaper. Since the show is set in New York City I would think she should be reading the New York Times. It was probably because the show was filmed in Los Angeles, although the New York Times could have been purchased at many newsstands in Los Angeles. They probably figured nobody would notice.
