As someone who only needs custom maps every once and a while and cannot justify buying Substance or any of the other products on the market, I found this tutorial incredibly useful. Thank you!
Hi Damon. The assets for this tutorial are available by becoming a patron. All patrons have a link to my shared folder where these assets can be found. The link to become a patron is in the video description.
How would we get the photoshop file with the RGB/individual channels? There was no explanation for that. Unless it's further into the video, which I'll watch just in case. I just don't know what happened between the last video and this one to get what you have in photoshop.
I think that photoshop is really good for add some details on maps, but really slow to creating ALL maps of an object... i usually work with substance painter, it's really good and fast, but i also think that everyone has his own workflow... keep going, nice tutorial :)
Excellent! I will probably have to tweak some setting because it gives an INTENSE normal map setting as default, but it worked! Thank you so much! Back to my barrel.
@@karencarver8565 I know it's been a year since you wrote this, if you don't know already you can download NVIDIA Normal Map plugin for photoshop from NVIDIA themselves. developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-texture-tools-adobe-photoshop is the page. then on any image in photoshop - you go to filter, and down to NVIDIA -> Normal Map. And three are various explanations on settings. But this way it's right in photoshop while youre making your texture.
+Jared Giglio I haven't yet but it's right at the top of my list of things to try. It looks amazing. A genuine game changer for texturing. You a fan of Substance Painter
Very interesting however where is 7 on the actual texturing the final in maya after yo have created all the textures in photoshop you just leave us hanging without finishing!!!

on substance painter can i generate Texture maps?
Still it's good to know how to create pbr textures using photoshop if you don't have Substance or Quixel.
What do I do if I don't have the most current version of Photoshop? I use CS5, so it does not include that awesome "generate normal map" button.
