On March 7th, @YourPalTina_ and I went out to hang-out for a bit before I needed to take her up to Chattanooga so she could catch a bus back up to New England. We went out to downtown Athens to see what CSX was running. Unfortunately, we happened to get there right in the middle of a deadzone, and CSX C015 had just passed going south. Once we got here, however, I saw a heads-up on Facebook that M521 had left Nashville this morning with a rather excellent lash-up on the head-end of it. As such, we spent the next 2+ hours waiting, towards the end of which @OfficialRailFanTay_Productions also joined up with us. Thankfully, our patience would be rewarded, as CSX M521 finally came through with CSX 3194 (an ES44AH) leading another CSX ES44AH, a CSX GP38-3, a CSX SD40-2, a CEFX SD40-2 (missing a numberboard above the cab), a CITX SD40-2, and a pair of GECX (ex-CSX) Dash-8s on the head-end (heading to the AGR), with a CSX ET44AH working as the mid-train DPU. The RS5T on CSX 3194 also sounded great as it was blown for all nine crossings through downtown Athens, and I'm quite glad I was able to get it at this crossing.
Nothing too much has changed to this crossing since I last recorded it. However, CSX has replaced a dead RECO LED gate light on the closer signal with a new NEG LED gate light since then, which seems to be the only major change between this video and the last. The closer signal's gate mech seems like it might need some work though, given how quickly it descended and bounced upon lowering.

I did see this Spirit of Law Enforcement engine once back in the Autumn of 2021 on the Selkirk Subdivision. Very cool to see, and a very nice sounding horn.
This was probably the best day of the week I had so far! Thank you for letting ne know about 3194 coming and seeing it with you!
I agree! Just remember to stay off the tracks in the future, lol.
Nice!! What an awesome lashup that was!!
Thanks!
Holy moly……..thats all i have to say on that lashup
Nice catch of that pride in service unit
Nice video! Glad you caught CSX 3194 leading on an epic lashup. I unfortunately missed out on catching that unit when it came through KC on the Sedalia Sub.
Thanks!
Excellent catch! That is one hell of a lash-up, lmao.
Thanks! Indeed, lol.
This is the
best catch that I’ve seen!
Thanks!
Awesome catch!
Thanks!
You slayed that catch!! I caught 3194 leading a CSX M568 on the Erie West Sub with my friend in the fall; it has one of the best train horns ever!
Thanks! Nice!
Nice
Thanks!
Holy s**t that horn action sounded good. Pardon the language
Yea, I'm glad I was able to get this thing going through downtown Athens, RS5Ts are some of my favorite horns personally, lol. And I don't mind.
