This Filipino scene just keeps on giving.. really impressed with what I've heard from these boys so far! 👏🏻 Let me know any other songs or performances I should check out from them next! 💜
Yay! Another rabbit hole Sammy. Of course - their live, wishbus performances next! PPop trademark is their live, raw performances that sound like the produced, studio versions.
Bini is managed by the biggest media company in the Philippines and they are promoted well. Alamat’s agency Viva is big too. I just hope they spend more on the group-concerts, radio play, promotion...because we don’t want talent like this just being enjoyed by a few. Apart from SB19, Alamat is one male PPop group that really represents the vocals-dance-visual diversity of the PH. Plus their concept alone naturally promotes Filipino culture. Thank you for reacting to Alamat! I wish for more opportunities for them to promote everywhere. 💚
Couldn't agree more! They have top notch discography and a great concept, but they have to be promoted so that people can get to know them. Can't wait for the day more Filipinos (and music fans all over the world) discover ALAMAT!
FUN FACT: in their song "Dagundong" they were actually telling the whole history of the Philippines. Each verse represents a time when we where colonized and every chorus is them going to war First Verse - Spanish colonization Chorus- our ancestors fighting against them Second verse- Spanish settlement and their tyranny Chorus-the beginning of Philippine Revolution Third verse- we won against the Spaniards but plot twist, we were actually sold to America that's why they left Chorus- revolutionizing for the last time It's very fitting that they sounded angry. AND THEY MANAGED TO FIT EVERY SINGLE DETAIL IN A TWO AND A HALF MIN SONG!!!! I could go on and on to explain each lyric
Alamat is known for advocating Filipino culture. They incorporate ethnic and traditional elements to their songs and performances from the instruments, dance, outfits
Alamat is the Filipino group that highlights the Filipino Culture, Folks, and other traditional about the Philippines 🇵🇭 ALAMAT IS ORIGINALLY DEBUTED AS 9 MEMBERS IF I NOT MISTAKEN AND ALL MEMBERS COME TO DIFFERENT REGIONS IN THE PHILIPPINES, so you see? different taste and flavor of music combined together, that’s ALAMAT!
Invasive is such an apt description for Dagundong. The lyrics tackle colonization of the Philippines by the Spaniards. The Philippines had been under Spanish rule for 333 years. Such an interesting concept for a song.
I'm so happy ALAMAT getting the recognition that they deserve, they deserve to be famous, so far they have the best PPOP discography, I know u can all agree with me
Alamat to me, is the quintessential Filipino idol group, made with a deep Filipino aesthetic: from ethnicity to costuming to lyrics (which are in multiple vernacular languages which are the native languages of the members). Their discography is the best, absolutely. Fun fact, the Maharani MV featured Bini's leader Joanna (she's the female lead). I can only hope these guys get Bini-level success. The Dagundong track and MV has the subject matter of colonialization and our resistance. (We were colonized by Spain for about 300 years, the United States by 40).
One of the best Ppop group. Their music really represent Pilipino culture and traditions.. They use different dialects in Philippines which makes them throughly a legend (Alamat). So happy for this boys they deserved all the recognition. Thank you.
The traditional dance with the bamboo poles is called Singkil. it is an ethnic dance of the Philippines that has its origins in the Maranao people, a Mindanao Muslim ethnolinguistic group. The dance is widely recognized today as the royal dance of a prince and a princess weaving in and out of crisscrossed bamboo poles clapped in syncopated rhythm, it definitely fits the concept of the song! Also the girl in the Maharani MV is Jhoanna from BINI ❤
Really cool, I’ve never seen anything like it before! Also I can’t believe I didn’t clock Johanna! I noticed they look alike when editing but just assumed it wasn’t as it’s such a crazy cameo😅💜
My top 5 Alamat songs; 1. Walang Hanggan 2, Sa Panaginip Lang 3. Day & Night 4. Say You Love Me 5, Maharani Their Wish Bus performances are a must watch too.
Their tagline “Alamat, handa ‘rap!” As then English sub said is Alamat, about face. “Handa ‘rap” (long form handa harap) is a military marching/stance command in Tagalog. Much like what you’d hear in western military as “platoon, about face!” But I think it’s also intentionally picked because handa means ready (as in get ready) followed by the word rap sounds like rap like rapping.
You're wondering about their tagline "Alamat, handa 'rap" which means Alamat, about face. Their tagline came from what they say in the military - an order given to soldiers to tell them to turn around and face the other way. Seems like they(Alamat) order themselves to turn around to face their audience for us to see their singing and dancing skills.
"Handa 'rap" ('rap is contraction of "harap") is "Attention" or "Standing upright with an assertive and correct posture." "About-face" is actually the opposite, tumatalikod 'yan par, sa Tagalog ay "Tumalikod Na"
ALAMAT for me is the most PPOP group out there, since they incorporate Filipino culture in their songs and in their outfits/clothing. I love them with all of my heart.
Yes to this! Thank you for checking them out too! ALAMAT is a group that showcases more traditional Filipino-inspired clothes, dance moves, and even the words they use in their songs. I root for them! ❤ Btw the dance with the bamboo sticks is called Tinikling. It is our national and traditional folk dance in the Philippines. EDIT: I stand corrected... It's SINGKIL. Thanks for the correction guys!
Actually, it is Singkil. Tinikling and Singkil are almost similar with the use of bamboo. Since this Maharani dance has a main lead Princess and a warrior, it is Singkil. Add: I just realized we have same name. 🤣❤
Some of Alamat's outfits as you can see, there's wave patterns, that's actually the traditional outfits of Filipino in pre-colonial. Until now, you can still see that amazing patterns in Malong, a traditional skirt. Actually the Mermaid in Day and Night mv is the mythical creature, she is Magindara.
If you loved Dagundong or want to see more of that style (of course the most popular tracks are the pop-y, bright and fun type of things) you MUST check out "Kasmala" (the MV is about the discrimination of Filipinos by Americans during the colonization period). As well as "ILY ILY", and "Aswang".
The traditional dances in the Maharani video: 1. “Singkil” is a story of a princess lost in a forest. The bamboo is the forest and there’s an earthquake caused by the spirits that trapped her. 2. “Tinikling” is a rural dance and most common traditional Filipino dance. The dancers are birds and the bamboo clappers are farmers trying to catch the birds. I am Filipino American, and I learned these dances during college, so it was very nice to watch. It’s my first time seeing this group, and it was a great first impression. Thank you for introducing me to them~
Congrats, you've finally unlocked the holy trinity of Ppop! SB19, Bini, and Alamat!!! Alamat give a whole new different flavor in the community. (thanks for the G22 love too btw)
Alamat Visuals always scream tradional Filipino with modern touch. The costumes, some of dances are tradional dancing too, the instruments they used. Even the Title of their songs and some of the words they used are so traditional like Maharani, dayang, alamat. these words we dont hear in daily conversations these days.
Alamat song recommendations? Their ballads are good too! > Walang Hanggan > Sa Panaginip Na Lang > Say U Love Me Notice there are Bisaya lines there. They even covered a Spanish creole (Chavacano) song: Porque
This group has a ✨️no skip discography✨️ and the vocals are just 🤌 Please check out Say U Love Me, Gayuma, Walang Hanggan and Sa Panaginip na lang next
their intro chant, Alamat, about face, is a whole concept of soldier of in this case of alamat traditional filipino soldiers, like when soldiers says Attention, about face! something like that.
The dance in Maharani is called Singkil, a traditional dance from people of Maranao in Mindanao. Yes, the head dress is a rooster but also called Sarimanok a legendary bird from Maranao too.
Alamat is very heavy on Filipino cultural references in their MVs, especially their outfits. Love that you're diving into the P-Pop music scene. I'm here for it
"Alamat, Handa, 'Rap" literally translates to 'Alamat, get ready, about face/face forward'. It's a platoon command to cadets/soldiers that precedes getting into formation or marching or whatever.
Actually, "About-Face" in military means turning into 180 position of attention. :D it's like Alamat is saying you to turn and face them after looking far at something. But it can also means "Ready... Rap!" because in tagalog "Handa" means prepare or ready... About your question regarding the bamboo sticks, yes, that was an ethnic traditional dance called "Singkil" (sing-keel), where they slam and clap the bamboo in tune with the music's beat and the dancers will dance around the bamboo by stepping in it without their feet being caught in the middle of the clapping sticks. Singkil is traditionally danced in southern Philippines because in northern areas, they also have a variation called "Tinikling" (Tee-nick-ling) which is also the unofficial national dance of the Philippines. Alamat means "LEGEND" and this group really loves tapping on cultural side of the Philippines by combining modern and traditional sound, art and fashion! I love this group so much!
I think you will also like their KASMALA!!! It's really my most fav song of ALAMAT... but they were still 8 members back then... so sad the two left :(
the traditional dance is from the muslim south of the philippines, which is called singkil. the girl featured on maharani is jhoanna from bini. alamat means legend in filipino, and their aesthetic reflects traditional culture.
My Magiliw x A'TIN heart is so happy!!!! Please also listen to their ballad, Walang Hanggan. Their acting is on another level. BTW, they performed Dagundong with SB19 (if I'm not mistaken)
Hey Sam! Thanks for checking out ALAMAT. I'm so glad you like their music production and style. It's awesome to see someone who isn't Filipino appreciate them. Their songs blend different Philippine languages and dialects in a really cool way. It's not just all Tagalog; they mix in regional languages too. And you're totally right about their easy-listening style. It's modern meets traditional, so those unfamiliar instruments in the background are actually traditional Filipino ones. Their outfits are also a mix of modern and traditional, with beautiful fabric patterns. You should definitely check out "Gayuma," "Aswang," and "Manila Dreams." These songs incorporate Filipino folklore, urban legends, and beliefs.
Sana more promotion sa alamat at mga music video nila kasi madaming historical symbols ang pinapakita nila even sa kanilang lyrics.they storytelling and they tell about our history. They deserve recognition and awards too. I hope we fans of alamat or even other fans of ppop, promotes this group idol more like we did on Sb19 and bini as well as horizon. They deserve our support.
OMG. Alamat is my 2nd favorite PPOP after SB19. You might want to watch ILY ILY and Aswang. By the way SB19 Josh and Alamat Mo has a song collaboration.
Just you wait till you get to their Wishbus performances! The voices that are getting you mesmerized in their MVs are levelled up sonically when you hear their live performances on Wish. They are also the real deal as you thought they are. Much appreciation to you for checking them out.
Alamat's concept & discography is a feast for history, culture, fashion, language, music nerds. Other people say their style is campy, but every detail in their craft is intentional and backed with interesting facts.
Yes! Finally ALAMAT! thank you for the RV!.. They usually incorporate filipino traditions, cultures, and history to their track, fashion, and aesthetic.. Also each members speak different PH languages, and some of their songs has 2 to 7 languages on it.. Please check out more of their song, they really have no Skip discography, and very versatile artist.. Here are some of my recommendations from them. Gayuma (love potion, to be enchanted) cyberpunk style/genre ILY ILY ( about the Overseas Filipino workers) Multilingual and multi-genre song includes; Ballad, kundiman, pop, and rock in one song Aswang (a shape-shifting monster / creature from PH) more like a Triller sound Walang Hanggan ( a Ballad song) their acting in the MV hits hard 💯 And please react to their Wishbus performances, they're good at live and their Harmonies are superb,.. Wishbus performances : Say U Love Me Gayuma ILY ILY
Thanks for discovering the P in the PPop they're so Pinoy (colloquial for Filipino) as they come from the different regions/provinces in the Philippines. Their music infuses traditional and modern sounds...and a lot of their outfits are made by different tribes and indigenous materials. Thanks for this reaction please react more to their music if you want to know more about Filipino culture and history.
Alamat members are from different parts of the Philippines. Their songs/MV’s has so much of Philippines culture as well as they sing some from parts with their own dialect/native language
Alamat's agency, Viva, is actually one of the biggest and oldest entertainment agencies here in the Philippines. They manage some of the biggest names in the industry from actors to singers. Alamat is like the 2nd gen (i think) idol group they produced in tandem with Ninuno media. They don't really have a great record in handdling idol groups and so far Alamat has been the most successful one yet. Alamat used to be 9 members, but some left for personal reasons. That chant: "Alamat, handa, (ha)rap [alamat, about face]" is their actually also their group introduction. It's just similar to the soldiers' call for platoon attention. Do checkout also the live performances from the boys. Oh they also sound better live as always with out ppop groups. Checkout their wish bus perfs. Top of the list is Ily-ily
Thank you so much for reacting to Alamat🤩 Alamat songs is mostly R&B. They are a 6 member multi-ethnic group from different provinces in the Philippines (Kalinga, Zambales, Pampanga, Albay, Eastern Samar, Davao). Alamat promotes Filipino Culture from the choreography, Lyrics, Instruments, Clothes. Please do check them out more Alamat Songs with MVs: -Kbye -ABKD -Kasmala -Say you Love me (MV & Wish Bus Perf) -Sa Panaginip nalang -Aswang -ILY ILY (MV & Wish Bus Perf) -Gayuma (MV & Wish Bus Perf) -Day & Night (Wish Bus Perf) -Walang Hanggang -Dayang (Wish Bus perf) I highly recommend you check out their wish bus performances😎
ALAMAT they incorporate some traditional instruments in their music like WALANG HANGGAN, DAY & NIGHT or incorporate ph history in their mvs like KASMALA, DAGUNDONG. And even paid tribute to OFWs in their ILY ILY mv.
Wow Sammy! Your liking a lot of OPM recently. We're not complaining though. Most of ALAMAT tracks, if not composed, mix and/or mastered by Thyro Alfaro. He is also the mixing and mastering engineer for SB19 PABLO's La Luna.
ALAMAT IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE PPOP GROUP they represent filipino culture and languages so well and I enjoyed this reaction so much! You earned another subscriber! Hope to see more Alamat reaction vids from you soon, hopefully a deep dive into their theme and advovacy!
Finally! My ALAMAT boys!!! They have a lot of cultural references. All these are my favorites songs from them. They also incorporate the different languages here in the Philippines. Thank you for reacting to them. 🥰
Alamat always incorporates Filipino traditions, music, different languages, culture, dances, mythology,.. I MEAN everything they produce, they manage to incorporate Filipino culture in their music and MVs. I've been recommending Alamat since I've seen you react to sb19 and Im so proud of them. (My top 2) They will never disappoint!!! 🔥 Aswang, Gayuma, ILY ILY, ABKD, Kasmala, Sa panaginip na Lang, Say u Love Me.. these are also great tracks and have an awesome MV you shouldn't miss. Their wish bus performances are great too. FYI the one you said with extra seasoning 😂 is Mo! One of the co-leaders of the group, one of the main vocals, and the main rapper! He's got that superstar quality ❤
Gayuma, Aswang and Walang Hanggan are my top 3 most favorite song from these boys. Can't wait for your reaction to their MV's. These young lads are awesome.
They're originally 9 members, 3 members left the group, most of their reason is family reason. It's the time when the group is just starting and the families of those 3 who left the group doubted if the group will still continue because after a year they're not still on the spotlight. But I'm happy the 6 members stayed and finally after 4 years they are slowly getting the recognition and fame that they deserve, for me ALAMAT is the true definition of PPOP coz they sound very much PPOP with a little bit of KPOP inspiration, from the wardrobes to the music instrumentals, if you know you knoe. Nyways thank u for reacting to ALAMAT❤
Yay! Was waiting for you to check them out too. Thank you for this. They are good friends, with SB19! What is interesting with ALAMAT (translated to ‘Legend’) is that they hail from different parts/islands of the Philippines - so they speak different languages & dialects. Since these boys help in the production of their songs too, they aim to use at least one traditional Filipino instrument in their songs - that’s why you are noticing some unique sounds there (You have a good ear for noticing those small details at first listen).
Wow!! I love how you react from BINI to SB19 to ALAMAT!! You might also want ro check G22 next!! 😊 Btw, idk if you recognized the girl from Maharani 🤭 That’s BINI Jhoanna 😅
Traditional but modern - yes that is actually ALAMAT. They also sing in different dialects aside from Filipino and English because the members are from different regions in the Philippines. Their discography is one of the best (Aside from SB19 of course)
This Filipino scene just keeps on giving.. really impressed with what I've heard from these boys so far! 👏🏻
Let me know any other songs or performances I should check out from them next! 💜
You should checked when Ken (felip) dance maharani omg his fire

PPop trademark is their live, raw performances that sound like the produced, studio versions.
I'm waiting for your ppop reaction to DIONE please
Bini is managed by the biggest media company in the Philippines and they are promoted well. Alamat’s agency Viva is big too. I just hope they spend more on the group-concerts, radio play, promotion...because we don’t want talent like this just being enjoyed by a few. Couldn't agree more! They have top notch discography and a great concept, but they have to be promoted so that people can get to know them. Can't wait for the day more Filipinos (and music fans all over the world) discover ALAMAT!
@@magiliwanjFor me lng ah.They are one of the top list for me sa ppop groups.Unique ang boses nila and they really have good songs.
FUN FACT: in their song "Dagundong" they were actually telling the whole history of the Philippines. Each verse represents a time when we where colonized and every chorus is them going to war
First Verse - Spanish colonization
Chorus- our ancestors fighting against them
Second verse- Spanish settlement and their tyranny
Chorus-the beginning of Philippine Revolution
Third verse- we won against the Spaniards but plot twist, we were actually sold to America that's why they left
Chorus- revolutionizing for the last time
It's very fitting that they sounded angry. AND THEY MANAGED TO FIT EVERY SINGLE DETAIL IN A TWO AND A HALF MIN SONG!!!!
I could go on and on to explain each lyric
Let this girl cooks!
Really? Pakinggan ko nga ulit.
Dagungdung is one of my favorites Pero di pa ako nag dig deeper sa lyrics as much as I dig for maharani.
@@sassyfangirl23opo, they even mentioned rizal's noli and el fili as "dalawang nobelang nakapukaw ng mithi"
This group has one of thee most ELITE discography under their belt. ALAMAT RISE UP!!
I AGREE!
Well said
Alamat is known for advocating Filipino culture. They incorporate ethnic and traditional elements to their songs and performances from the instruments, dance, outfits
ALAMAT IS THE MOST FILIPINO BOY GROUP CODED, I LOVE THEIR DISCOGRAPHY I HOPE MANY PEOPLE WILL RECOGNIZE THEM

Sb19 does it too but differently. Alamat is definitely very malalim filipino
Yes to this! Thank you for checking them out too! ALAMAT is a group that showcases more traditional Filipino-inspired clothes, dance moves, and even the words they use in their songs. I root for them! ❤
Btw the dance with the bamboo sticks is called Tinikling. It is our national and traditional folk dance in the Philippines.

FINALLY, ALAMAT! this is the most Filipino PPOP boy group in terms of their music and fashion ❤
I bet you'll also love their song GAYUMA and ASWANG ❤
alamat, imo, has the best discography in ppop. i'm just in love with every song
True. To me, they're like the BTS of ppop who are capable of producing outstanding songs all in one album.

ALAMAT is the most Filipino PPOP group in the scene. Each of their MV and songs scream OPM.
Louder and more for ALAMAT
I think you will also like their KASMALA!!! It's really my most fav song of ALAMAT... but they were still 8 members back then... so sad the two left :(
the traditional dance is from the muslim south of the philippines, which is called singkil. the girl featured on maharani is jhoanna from bini. alamat means legend in filipino, and their aesthetic reflects traditional culture.
If we have the Kings of PPOP, ALAMAT is the prince of PPOP for me. Lets gooooo!! This is my fav. Male group next to SB19. Thanks for the RV..
MORE ALAMAT REACTION!!!
Alamat’s discography is just 😍
My Magiliw x A'TIN heart is so happy!!!!
Please also listen to their ballad, Walang Hanggan. Their acting is on another level.
BTW, they performed Dagundong with SB19 (if I'm not mistaken)

They deserve recognition and awards too. I hope we fans of alamat or even other fans of ppop, promotes this group idol more like we did on Sb19 and bini as well as horizon. They deserve our support.
OMG. Alamat is my 2nd favorite PPOP after SB19.
You might want to watch ILY ILY and Aswang.

Just you wait till you get to their Wishbus performances! The voices that are getting you mesmerized in their MVs are levelled up sonically when you hear their live performances on Wish. They are also the real deal as you thought they are. Much appreciation to you for checking them out.
YAAAS ALAMAT! SB19, G22, & ALAMAT are my top 3 PPOP groups. I like their music and style.
Always appreciate to see a fellow MAG-BULLE'TIN / BULLE'TIN-IW in the wild haha!

Same!
Alamat's concept & discography is a feast for history, culture, fashion, language, music nerds. Other people say their style is campy, but every detail in their craft is intentional and backed with interesting facts.
This group has no skip discography. They're awesome 😊
Gayuma (love potion, to be enchanted) cyberpunk style/genre
ILY ILY ( about the Overseas Filipino workers) Multilingual and multi-genre song includes; Ballad, kundiman, pop, and rock in one song
Aswang (a shape-shifting monster / creature from PH) more like a Triller sound
Walang Hanggan ( a Ballad song) their acting in the MV hits hard 💯
And please react to their Wishbus performances, they're good at live and their Harmonies are superb,..
Wishbus performances :
Say U Love Me
Gayuma
ILY ILY
"About Face" is a military command to face forward, an alternative to this same call is "Attention!"
Check out other ALAMAT songs: Gayuma, Aswang, Say U Love Me, Sa Panaginip Na Lang, Walang Hanggan.
YEHEYYY!!!! Finally Alamat! They deserve more recognition internationally ❤🎉
Ive heard of alamat songs before but this is the first time ive heard dagundong and dayang wow those songs are good too
Alamat members are from different parts of the Philippines. Their songs/MV’s has so much of Philippines culture as well as they sing some from parts with their own dialect/native language
Looking forward for your Alamat reaction part 2 🤎🤎🤎
That is a Military Drill Call/Command especially on ROTC/CAT and even in PMA...
ALAMAT! My TOP PPOP Boy Group!

SB19 fans also love ALAMAT!!! Their sound/music is so Filipino, they're so cool and talented too.
And he recently sang in Josh Cullen’s song “Lights Out”. His voice is smooth.
@@imdreamingofawhite his lyricism and vocals in Lights Out is so smooth 🔥
Dayang has an R&B version btw incase you wanna check it out :)
omg you totally gotta react to Alamat's kbye (absolute fire of a debut single) and kasmala (another in-your-face song) too!!
Eyy MrSammyCam really deeping deep into Ppop!! Alamat appreciation! Let's go Tomas!
Please react to ALAMAT's other mvs:
Aswang
Gayuma
Sa Panaginip
ILY ILY
Gayuma, Aswang and Walang Hanggan are my top 3 most favorite song from these boys. Can't wait for your reaction to their MV's. These young lads are awesome.
They got great songs to get hooked up to, not a single bad song, so glad you enjoyed them
They're originally 9 members, 3 members left the group, most of their reason is family reason.
Btw, idk if you recognized the girl from Maharani 🤭 That’s BINI Jhoanna 😅
one of my most favorite PPOP group next to SB19 our LAKANS " ALAMAT " thank you so much for this amazing rv and diving to ppop sir ❤❤❤
Traditional but modern - yes that is actually ALAMAT. They also sing in different dialects aside from Filipino and English because the members are from different regions in the Philippines. Their discography is one of the best (Aside from SB19 of course)
