Your honest straightforward approach is so refreshing!!! Being a beginner with a limited budget your reviews and comparisons break through the fluff and get down to the basics. Thank you.

actually, bright magenta is a better primary color than red, it mixes more beautiful colors and you can make RED using Magenta and a little bit of yellow, so.... i always buy bright magenta or "opera pink" instead of red :P

Yes Magenta, Cyan and Yellow are the true primary paint colors.

I remember in school I needed a red crayon so I used meganta orange and yellow to make red. My classmates were actually proud of me.

I think you also note for acrylics the higher end ones usually have more pigment and less binder.

You are great about explaining! So it's not very difficult to understand. Thanks so much- :) !!!

The difference in cheap watercolor and expensive watercolor is more obvious than in acrylics. It's not just blendability. Cheaper watercolor is chalky and doesn't flow with the water as well. Don't take your experience in acrylics to other paints so easily.

Monica de los Santos .......Hi I got some questions nobody has been able to answer, can you? I’m a bad to the none artist but I JUST got into acrylic and canvas! I .... spent a lot of money getting started on artist grade stuff so i bought Sax heavy body bcs it’s a lot of paint and good amount of colors so I can get used to things..... here my problem!!! After the paint is dry and I want to come back with other colors, it pulls up and smears my already dry colors man. I also have a hard time getting the paint to cover evenly and not show canvas on my edges with out having to use a serious amount of paint. Even then once it’s dry and I want to come back and add layers, my previous colors start to brush away and soften up again😤... I learned about Ann isolation coat which I’m waiting on but then wouldn’t the isolation coat wipe off my art anyway unless it’s spray prior to varnish.
DO BETTER QUALITY PAINTS (stick) to canvas better once dried? Are they more pertinent? I can do a whole art landscape and hose it off clean even days after it’s dry. Is that the case or is Sax brand paint from amazon garbage?
I mainly got these big bottle paints so I can practice freely and spread my wings and even do large abstract stuff which don’t require high quality paint but.... I’m an artist and I’m getting good fast but my work also sucks right now bcs idk if it’s my technique or if the paint is GARBAGE of is it good enough and I’m still learning. What’s up?

Also, the pigments are a bit different as well. ..For expensive paint's I buy primary colors as well. But I agree, blending is a major difference. It is good to experiment with both though

This is a great video! I use cheap paint and they work perfectly for me! I find them really easy to use and the slightly muddy colors actually work well with the things I like to paint! once again this is a great video and I can't wait to see more:)

Glad I could help. The paint at Home Depot or the "House Paint" is different. You will find that paint to be less solid or more runny. The paint is fine to use for art(as all paint is), but you will have to do some tests with it to see how it works. It probably wont blend as well, also more layers of paint may be needed to get a desired color. Also if you are looking to get textures out of you paint, like with acrylic, you will probably have to add a binder to the paint to thicken it up. Luckily Home Depot sells binders. You also may want to look at Home Depots Spray paint section. I only get spray paint from Home Depot, because the selection is big and price is usually 1/4 of the price at any art store. If you are looking to go big, mix and match the materials and paint that you use to suit your price range.

I use Dalar Rowney Graduates and I'm so broke that I only buy the primary set. (Primary RYB and BW) If I get the expensive ones that I want, I would have to sell my organs.

Hey PTXCeline, don't waste your money on black. Try to not use black out of a tube in any of your paintings, rather mix it. Also, don't add black as your shading color, rather study color theory and mix darker shades. The blacks and dark shades in your painting should me mixed using complementary colors to get richer, fuller darks that end up looking much more interesting.

@@Michael-nu6fb oh it just came as a set that's why I have it. it's just much cheaper to get it that way
