    Love it! Did you perhaps get the handle bar mount and 360 mount idea from somewhere? ;)
    Like you said, so much easier if you have someone filming. Then you run into things like, do they know what setting I use, will they frame it, will the break something etc. That's why I think we need to do a colab sometime
    Also for the live streaming, probably already know, but only is mobile that is restricted to 1000 subs. Can make UA-cam think you're on desktop but actually on a phone and still get the live stream on mobile!

      That 360 mount idea was absolutely game changing for me when you first mentioned it back on Leander’s training camp back in Banyoles! Before that, I’d just be using a few 90 degree joints to get the angles I wanted and it was such a hassle...
      A collab sounds good to me - I’ll have my people call your people and see what we can do! I’ve got another video in the works that “addresses” that issue of the filmer hahaha. But good looks on the live streaming - I’ve got a couple different ideas I’ve been testing out and going mobile is a big part of it!

      @@EamonGlavin awesome it helped you out. So simple. I think that made me decide the 360 cam was worth it!
      Looking forward to the call and to see what you get up to!

    Proud to say I have never flipped in a single lol. And that's saying something cause I learned to row in a racing boat because we didn't have enough of the ones we are supposed to learn in, and there were 15 mph winds that day.

    • @leeming1317
      @leeming1317 Рік тому +1

      Don't worry got plenty wet for you when I started learning 😅
      I kept doing the thing where you compensate too hard on 1 side, then you try to balance that side out, then its too much so then the other side is all outta wack, then just dunked.
      Took me so long to keep a strong straight core, and not to fidget or balance
      I forgot to mention. What helped me learn to balance the boat was this half-hemisphere ball platform balancing thing the gym had lol. That made me learn the subtle core flexing to balance gently rather than using my legs/thighs.

    If you wanted to row in a pool, longer and wider than the one you were in, can you envision a way to attach some bungee cords to maybe the riggers and to something fixed beyond the pool that allows you to take a stroke, and have the cords bring you back before you take the next stroke? I can see it useful to teach someone the proper technique.

    Great video! Are there any good "dupes" for the GoPro you would recommend for a smaller budget? Also, what kind of shot do you feel you learn most from (from a coaching perspective)? :)

    • @EamonGlavin
      @EamonGlavin  4 роки тому +1

      Cheers Caitlin! The dupes you’re looking for - camera options cheaper than the premium GoPros? Hard to say on the camera because GoPro’s stabilization software is 10x better than most options out there, plus all their other customer service and functionality are pretty well refined. However, having done some light research - something like the Akaso V50X seems to be a solid alternative! A lot of it is just having the right mount and putting the camera in a stable spot!
      My favorite coaching/learning footage is always directly parallel from the launch/land. I gave my coach my phone with a camera that was recording 4k @ 60 frames per second, so it was perfect to zoom in and slow down to frame by frame to look at the stroke in high detail. Next best might be on the cox’s or bow seat’s head because you can see blade timings or handle movement. Then finally, anything from the rigger is not the best from a coaching perspective because the angles and distortion from the camera can be a bit useless sometimes. But of course... drone shots > all shots hahaha

      @@EamonGlavin Thanks, will check that out- although with these things it's probably always a case of "you get what you pay for", so I might just start saving!
      Yeah, I've definitely found the same with mounting a camera on the backstay, though being able to see what my feet are doing is quite insightful... (can't get away with anything now!) Looking forward to seeing more videos from you, this was awesome :)

    • @EamonGlavin
      @EamonGlavin  4 роки тому +2

      I think it’s definitely one of those cases! You can get the GoPro Hero 7 Silver ($200) which is a great option and has less settings to worry about. The Hero 8 Black Bundle is $350 now and that is probably the best bang for your overall buck with an SD card, extra battery, small tripod, and head mount! That’s of course if you can’t find it cheaper on Ebay and the like! My favorite thing about the Hero 8 is you don’t need an extra “housing” to hold the gopro in place since the mounts pop out of the bottom!

      I usually shoot in the high quality possible with the widest field view! I also use ND filters to keep the shutter speed to 4x the frame rate for HyperSmooth to everything (Spenny the GimbalGod taught me that). Abe Kislevitz's tutorials have been huge to me learning to properly use this thing.

      @@EamonGlavin Our Rowing Coach has a Zoom coaching session. If I can get my iPhone attached at the Oarlock he can watch my rowing session in realtime. So the idea I guess is to have a Livestream of me rowing via Zoom. I was wondering have you done anything like that or do you have any suggestions on how to set something up.
