Getting better and better Eamon. I love the fact that even with all the speed technology / GPS etc. the water spout is still getting used in the top tier 8 :54
"It's called Lady Bird Lake but... it's definitely a river." THANK YOU! I've been here 16 years and still get hung up on that. It's a dammed river, specifically. And great footage of the rowers. It's always a pleasure having them come down to train in Jan/Feb.
This is really great footage, rowing aside. Loved how you could see the seperation early in the race, you could see the pace of the strokes, and the physical struggle and breathing of that crew. Really good to see it also sped back up, and the pace these competitors were pushing. Really awesome stuff, great camera work Eamon keep it up! You're a great job capturing this stuff.
OMG the slow motion video is the best ever--each part of the stroke is easily critiqued. Great for tyros, but a must for Olympic class athletes where minor stroke improvements make the difference between chump or champ! I wish this technology was available when I was at Rowing Camp--I would of found my swing a lot faster.
Incredible Video!!! I'm a fashion designer inspired by the movement of the human body in various sports, aiming to make more comfortable clothing that enables all ranges of movement for daily life! Thanks for this awesome source of inspiration. The video was mesmerizing!
What is the device on the sculler’s oar lock at around 9:50 and the stream of water at10:10? I’m thinking a trading aid to establish proper catch and finish and a device to measure speed. Am I close? I’ve been away from rowing for a long time. Enjoyed your footage!
Those are for giving physical feedback on the catch and finish angle in your stroke! You set them at a certain degree on either end of the stroke and they're on springs so you just feel a slight bump in the handle if you touch them. Some people use them to make sure they're getting enough rach at the catch or not finishing too far back.
After a full stroke, the boat is moving more quickly than if you took multiple arms only strokes. They were working on getting the hand speed up and actually connecting to the water when the boat is moving quickly.
This really lets you see all the mistakes. The arms break before the legs are straight, the wrists extend way up, and the layback is not timed to pull the arms into the body. Nice job of filming all the common mistakes.
I have made the mistake of facing the oar lock the wrong way and you can immediately feel it. I didn't realize there was a "4 degree" slat. I thought it was just difficult because of where the oar is compared to the rigger. I would add to make sure your seat is back before planting you first foot in the boat
Hi Eamon! Great video!!! I am a member of Vesper running communications, would you mind if I shared this in our newsletter and on our website (linking back to your channel of course...) Really nice work!
Interesting how so many of these rowers have so much tension in their arms and hands. Those same rowers show an extreme break in their wrists as they feather. Who gets it right here - mostly the women.
Eamon - loved your video! My family took a rowing vacation in Austin just a couple of weeks ago and saw some of the same athletes on the water. We also launched from TRC. Your cinematography was leagues better, but here was our video: ua-cam.com/video/wpem0DiNZro/v-deo.html. Hope to meet you one day.
Ah Frank that was awesome! Love a rowtrek - basically the same reason I brought my boat down to just be able to row in then awesome rowing center! Looks like you enjoyed yourself as much as I have.

"I shall now introduce some new rowing tech that will change the sport forever... the mighty straw!"
I love the slow-mo so I can really see how the hands work. The footage of the women's team in quite special - beautiful.
As someone new to rowing, the slow motion video is extremely helpful -- all parts of the stroke and by different rowers. Thank you.
I've been looking for this kind of content specifically. Plus, the footage here is of great quality, so it's informative _and_ fun to watch 😊

This footage needs to be archived somewhere in order to ensure it's always available as reference material for people. Thanks for filming this.

Great footage as always and I'm loving your new format with the facecam talk between rowing footages !
Man I miss that sound.. oars rotating in the oar locks.. it's like.. music.
that quality is insane
Dang that girl in pink at 8:20. You can really see the power shes cranking out./ Cool footage.
Love seeing the composure of the woman's scullers
Just saw this after it came across my feed - absolutely worth the watch. Love your work mate. Keep up the passion and great work!!
Ah I appreciate that! It’s been a ton of fun to film the best of the best.
Thanks for the kudos!
Yes, Tracy Falkenthal

hey Eamon - strong work! I think starting a patreon would be a nice idea
I row at ARC and it’s so fun to see our lake (river) from a different perspective

Incredible sculling, great filming from UK
That clip/window transition *oh my*
Nice work, I love watching this kind of stuff. Thx.
Loving the low angles. Gettin risky with the C70 hell yes
I'm a rower at TRC love your videos! Great job! Keep up the good work!👏👏👏
Epic shooting! Beautiful work 👏👍
Great video! Waiting for Sarasota footage. Do you know what it the "sensor" on 10:05 ? I need it... Thanks
A simple straw hahahaha

Just noticed a comment about the water spout! 🙂
0:17 omg hold on this is my riverrrrrr yayyyy did you leave from ARC?
Looking good Eamon - I wish you all the best.
Cheers bud!
Yay for getting UsRowing ❗️
What are those small poles around the oar at the 9:05 mark?

5:50 do you know what that drill focuses on? The one where they take a full stroke then an arms only?
After a full stroke, the boat is moving more quickly than if you took multiple arms only strokes. They were working on getting the hand speed up and actually connecting to the water when the boat is moving quickly.
Whenever I get frustrated with rowing I watch the women doing steady state and I'm inspired again. Their sculling is beautiful to watch.
You and me both. It's so soothing to watch them cruise.
@@EamonGlavin Perfect music, too!
Brilliant! So beautiful!!
Which is sort of monitoring for the boat @ 9:14 ?
It’s a straw
Phenomenal Eamon.
Fantastic footage!! tks
Another EXCELLENT video
Great video, keep it up 💯
Thanks homie!
Two of the light men rowed at my club in San Diego:)
Oh boy, great job...
Hey, greetings from Europe. Where is this filmed? The place looks really nice.
This is Austin, Texas!
Is that Bernhard Stomporowski coaching the LWT 2x?
Are you going to NBP in Sarasota?
Just posted a video about being here now!

Damn, these are some really beautiful shots!
great stuff
Cheers bud!
Who’s the rower at the 8:13 mark?
That’s Cicely Madden!
@@EamonGlavin thanks! Really cool angles, especially when she’s right next to the boat
Thank you @hydrow for introducing me to this world.
Love that for you
talking about broadening your audience, women rowers checking in from sunny island Singapore 🤜🏾🤛🏾
Ahhhh that makes me happy to hear! I tried to go see the Singapore training center when I was there 3 years ago - but bad timing with renovations.
SLOW MO GEVVIE!!!!!
Who doesn't love some slowmo of an Olympic medalist?

Hi Eric, of course you can - and hopefully there’s a lot more footage to share in the coming weeks!
@@EamonGlavin thanks!!
Is rowing hard work?
Yeah, it can be pretty tough.
Amazing footage! Great work! Let us know when you set up your Patreon or GoFundMe account.
Just updating you that I got a Patreon set up this week! I’m starting to mention it in my new videos now
Very nice work, I’d do patreon
