    Kindness without honesty is manipulation, honesty without kindness is cruelty. Learnt while vacationing at the silly ward, somewhat evident to why I'm here. Thought the insight would be applicable, a proverb a day keeps friends away... (edit: don't be a dick about it, find a balance)

    This is the level of self-awareness everyone should be trying to reach. Hardest thing for a human is to realise the world does not end with them. There are other people with their own thoughts, feelings, events, just like yours. You're not special.
    Once you are able to understand that the other person isn't just a person you're interacting with but also a being of their own, things become clearer. Every person has their own way of seeing things.

    I feel like this video had to find me.
    I always habe been and still am a people pleaser. I don‘t want to hurt others feelings and rather feel miserable myself than simply be honest, feel a bit uncomfortable but be happy in the long run.
    I paused the video and finally told a girl that I‘m in contact with that made clear signs that she‘s interested in me that I do not want to give her false hope and apologized that I didn‘t tell her for so long. It‘s a paradox how you don‘t want to hurt someone‘s feelings but by not speaking openly you hurt them even more. Thank you so much for this video.

    I'm 46 years old and I STILL need to be reminded of this message. I'm happy that young people like you are putting out messages like this on UA-cam. It gives me hope for the future. Also, if you've never read it, there's a short book by Sam Harris, called "Lying," and he basically argues for being 100% honest in all your communication, as well. Cheers!

    I have always struggled with people pleasing and self esteem. Communicating is a very frequent issue in my life and it made me give very little importance to my own thoughts and feelings. But life is too precious to not live it geniuinely. Connecting with others is a part of it, and quite necessary (I find that the body just starts asking for it given a certain time). It sure can be difficult to communicate when the response from the other person causes fear. But i've started to understand that you can gain much more than the potential loss. Being able to express how you feel and what you want or need is a skill that welcomes growth and connection, especially when being able to do so respecting both people's feelings. Currently I'm trying to give myself more importance and develop that skill, for a brighter and joyous future.

    finally someone i can relate to.... half my college life people told me i come out as "blunt" because im being too straightforward...Initially i accepted what they said and tried to change...but then it was sort of soul crushing when i was just becoming more and more passive. i hated it, a few months ago i saw that i just cant go down this path. anyone shouldnt go down this path... its just an echo chamber of eveyone just agreeing to be lazy and just beating around the bush always running away from "CHANGE"
    like whats even the point of living if you cant even approach life from a straightforward or truth standpoint?

    I’m trying to look for the word, but you’re very like philosophical. I think that word is close enough. It’s great to see someone who’s female to be like that, I feel like it’s so insanely rare and I wish it was more common. Personally, I’m not a blunt person and I tip-toe around the parts of people that are difficult to deal with. Maybe that’s because I have lots of emotions and don’t want to hurt people? Idk. People get upset so easy you know? I’m not exactly like you is what I’m saying and I think it’s awesome that you’re able to be you despite growing up with passive people and learn to be more blunt.

    ive been too honest around some friends and they have told me its better to not say something if I think it could cause a conflict, which is obviously true in a way but then that leaves me feeling disconnected from connecting to these people on a deep level. it hurts because you realize they are in their own world. I cant come to terms how to change exactly for certain people to not cause any conflicts. It really hurts, but looking at it from a big picture my friend group is very small and a portion of my friends I never have these issues with. Long time friends can grow conflicts but it makes me very sad to think that it might not all be perfect between each other in every way. I feel I have to emotionally dump on them my traumas to let them understand I am not perfect, and to halfway apologize for being distant and conformational. Its been hard these past 2 years so I am at the point now I truly want to drop all these bad feeling and move forward, meeting new people, getting a new job etc. I dont want to keep being sad over these small verbal conflicts I had with my own friends months to a year ago? why do these memories of arguments keep replaying in my head? I just want no stress especially with my closest friends.

    humans communcate though emotion like animals we designed words around technology as a way to EXTEND that commucation reach it's UNNATURAL to be using video calls and phone calls though a reproduction digital streaam could go analogue because it matches the freqency and thus TVs can reproduce energy of a human though it's magnetic field but LED and LCD can not.
    bare that in mind all text based communcation can be done in flow sate and have some kind of meaning to the person reading it if they are ready to understand the knowledge otherwise it's just words on a page and might have a few spelling mistrakes and people who just have the energy of combatton will seek people to harass over these mistakes.

    I think that when it comes to people like you and I who value authenticity to the extent that when we are not honest with ourselves and the people around us, it feels like living a we're living a lie and that causes so much internal pain and suffering. But because everyone is different, it is important to remember that you can't change other people, no matter how much you may want to, or think that they would benefit by doing so. All you can do is be true to yourself and others.
    It is human nature to prefer pretty lies over difficult truths, which is why most people can't handle direct honesty and turn away. But you hit the nail on the head when you said that we aren't children anymore, and that we need to adult-up and communicate as such. I'm glad you emphasized that we shouldn't feel shame for having that direct honesty, because that's the most difficult part to deal with. When you refuse to live dishonestly, it's almost like a social taboo to speak up about it, because it shatters the illusion that everything is fine, and many people can't handle that uncomfortable and awkward feeling.
    As someone who also used to be an utter yes-man people pleaser, I always hesitated to be authentic with others, because I was terrified that I would lose people. But like you said, these things are necessary to move forward, and if being honest drives people away, then you were always better off without them anyway, which still hurts nevertheless. But can anything other than good come from being honest, even if you can't see it right away? I would say probably not.
    (I wrote this mostly to collect my thoughts, which may explain the disarray).

    Hi, my opinion is that direct communication comes at the disadvantage of diminishing organic connection and appearing vulnerable.
    Organic connection is having an intuition about the other want without him/her asking for it which is powerfull in relationships and nothing beats that.
    Direct communication when you are victim of an abuser or abusers can be VERY detrimental to you because any expression will be denied.

  • @scholasticdeth
    @scholasticdeth 3 місяці тому

    I have been trying to cultivate these qualities all my life, I don't think it brings any success, just the opposite. Most people find being direct as an insult to their inner world. Finally, you are alone, hating yourself for always holding your ground no matter what.

    One reason I don't communicate as robustly with Miss Brooke is because not only have I always known she is who she is but much of what I know, need, or feel is not part of her story and it's not that I don't adore her above all others but rather that everything I am and can be is for her, whether that involves how she understands me or not because her independence is her best pathfinding discovery and I honour myself in obedience to my knowledge of that to provide a bowing of my heart itself in order to provide her her own ability to abound in whenever wherever (Shakira)

    • @jessequinton4379
      @jessequinton4379 2 місяці тому

      At my most essential fact I crave her but her eternal infinite divinity has allowed me a soul. A mind. A heart. A strength. And all of these things that we are capable of are nurtured as I understand it now by yet another innovation in her development within herself interacting with us by emanating and emending us through sort of angels but like her Dreaming is far and further to her precisions, like we are provided her choices not so that I or anyone else might remain in the craving state but to follow her in her invitations because she has provided us infinities and eternities of her own. Forever I shall remain in love with her and Miss Bree but to respond to them is better for me than rigour and provides me an intertwinning of myself which is possibly unique in the entire Universe which proves to me in all final transcendence that I have always been who I am too.

    Valuing honesty rejects the importance of telling a story that gives life significance. Politicians and religious leaders are constantly accused of being liars. Yet to live in a nation you have to accept the lie that everyone is part of one family. To become a part of a religious community you have to accept the lie that everyone believes the same things. If you become hostile towards liars all you could ever expect to get is loneliness. Sometimes that sacrifice is worth knowing the truth but it is a sacrifice. One I would not advise most to entertain.
    Consistently discussing some really big topics very seriously. Maybe you'll end up as a religious leader if you keep it up.

    • @veretigovi6316
      @veretigovi6316 3 місяці тому

      In politics, unfortunately, the situation is even more depressing.
      You have to lie to get elected and get policies pushed through, which means you get called a liar. But if you don’t lie, you lose your job, get called ineffective and can’t make improvements for your region or country.
      While a lot of politicians may simply be power-hungry and unethical, lying just for personal benefit, even those who want to do good have to lie, deceive or be indirect. Whether a politician’s lies are unethical comes down to an assessment of how much good someone expects will come from their policies, versus how much bad from the deception needed to get the support to pass them.
      I’ve had personal experience talking with some figures who went into politics trying to do good (even if I sometimes disagree with their views), and who are unfortunately filled with self-hatred now. As one of them told me:
      “If only unethical people are going to lie, then all of our politicians will be unethical. If otherwise ethical people are willing to lie, then at least we’ll have some ethics in our government, even if it’s tainted and imperfect.”
      However, even if that logic is relatively solid, I’m told it provides little comfort.
      If all lies are equally bad, then all politicians are evil, and there is no way to fix that.

    In my country this is not much of a problem, actually it may be that there is people that just tell the truth without any filter, wich in the end may or may not be worse. That's what i'm going to focus on my input.
    Basically, it's good and the best way to communicate, but in life there's no black nor white, it's just a lot of shades of grey, and you can't just go around saying mean or hurtful stuff without any thought just because "it's the truth".
    Would you correct someone's words at the moment while they are on their deathbed?
    When someone's mouth stinks, i wouldn't say "do you know what a mint is?", but i would comment it in a less agressive way.
    I guess that this video was more made for those cases usually surrounding teenage, passive-aggresive behavior and stuff like that, but there is a difference between what i said and what Leilani tried to communicate.
    Basically, say the truth guys, but think it over at least once.

      oh yeah of course!! just like a lot of things, honesty and directness can be a negative thing when overly saturated or used "incorrectly" (i use quotes because everything is subjective). it it good to use when needed, but some things are better left unsaid. (for example, something that might be considered rude. unless someone wants you to be truthful to them about that too i suppose, but i wanted to that bit in there bc i'm personally someone who seeks the truth from others even if it could be considered mean or rude.) thanks for the input :-) if i make another video surrounding this topic i will make sure to add a bit about this.

    Thank you for sharing this video. I think good communication is a valuable skill to have in any setting, and that this has been a good push in motivation to why that is. I'm going to try to be more open and honest to myself when it comes to talking to other people in hopes of better developing this skill for my future. Again, thank you :)

    Thank you for your thoughts I agree by not being honest you're preventing both yourself and the other person from having a diaglogue and maybe both learning something about each other. True connection cant happen if people are afraid to be themself instead of a curated version.

      coincidentally enough this is something i realized recently, down to the detail. close people in my life tend to be negative and i gave up giving my real perspective on matters they'd tell me and would be like "oh yeah that sucks" and end the conversation or whatever. but recently i decided, why not tell them how i really think about this? why not offer logic and advice. and i ended up having an incredibly deep and beautiful conversation with a sister of mine that lasted hours lately as a result. thank you so much for dropping this input 🩵

    Yesss! Love the passion you bring into the topic.❤
    The whole mindgame, beating around the bush, silent treatment shit is so draining and just creating more masks and unnecessary complexities.
    Avoidancy and evasiveness often seems to be a covert form of trying to forcefully mold and control, either an outcome, people or even ourselves.
    And it often goes under the radar and the pain of being on the receiving end is so easily dismissed.
    But yeah I guess the best we can do is keep connecting to our integrity and nourish a space of free, open expression and communication.
    I mean how beautiful is the word communication, it literally contains communion.
    Lets keep empowering and showing us that it is beautiful to bare what is in our hearts!⛲

    “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” - John 3:16 God bless everyone here. Jesus loves you and died for you on the cross. He did this to wash away the burden of sins, and if you open your heart to Him, He can take away the burden of your sins and give you a peace incomparable to anything in this world. ✝✝🙏
