I wonder if CR7, Messi and R9 could have all worked well in the same team in this modern era of high pressing football, or if it would have been similar to the PSG issue where too many stars needed to be carried to be the worlds best team?
The game has evolved for sure the era of R9 was different than the era of CR7 and Messi But the thing is they adjusted to their respective era of football and guess what they are once in a lifetime players so their adaptation skill comes into play remember CR7 started out as a flashy wide midfielder who was just all about tricks and entertaining people but he adapted to the physicality of the prem and slowly became the best player in the world and when his speed and athleticism declined due to father time catching up he again adapted to the role of a pure 9 who was all about scoring goals So the end argument is they would just adapt🤷
Not a left winger. There's a difference between playing left winger and starting from the left side, which I'll admit, make CR's inclusion in this list questionable.
@@needfoolthingssame goes for Neymar too, at least since his PSG days. I understand not featuring dinho twice but I think he fits this list perfectly fine, especially since he had his best years as a winger.
Surely Ronaldinho should be (arguably) 2nd or at least 3rd and push everyone below down a spot? One of the greatest of all time and played most of his career as a left winger. Also Malouda not even in the honorable mentions? Seems harsh when you put El Shaaraway in there whos largely been unfulfilled potential
You should do a follow up/update on bournemouth's situation. They've been on a rollercoaster these past few months and now have their first premier league player of the month and an incredible manager that could finally fill the massive Eddie Howe sized hole they've had these past few years. Would be a great watch.
After hearing the honorable mentions, I can understand why HM Son featured. He beats most of those players, but I think 7 would've been more accurate and everyone below him gets bumped up a spot imo.
I feel like Neymar and Ribéry need to switch places. Ribéry was absolutely phenomenal on the left wing and his trophy cabinet is second to only Ronaldo‘s, if that. Neymar arguably peaked a bit higher (though I wouldn’t say that this is a foregone conclusion) but Ribéry clearly had a much longer peak. And Hazard should also be above Neymar in my book. I would also like to add one honorable mention. Speaking of Ribéry, his predecessor at Bayern, Mehmet Scholl, was just as awesome. But he is clearly too old to make it into the top 7 here, having played most of his games during the 1990s with a professional career between 1989 and 2007. in 1991 he joined Bayern where he played until the end of his career. So his trophy cabinet is huge. He is also a class act without any scandals.
Ribery’s trophy case isn’t that much bigger than Neymar’s, and he never had the talismanic footballing ability of Neymar and Hazard, so I believe it’s fair for him to get 4th.
Ribery didn't hit the heights of Neymar and neymar himself was literally in the absolute elite of world football for about a decade... You're talking like he only had 2-3 years when in reality since 2012 he's been one of the best out there, sth that you can't say to the same extent about Ribery who wasn't at quite that LVL for the entirety of his career. By the time Ribery went to Bayern, Neymar was already a world star for 5 years at the same point in his career.
@@Robinhickey2ndHe's in the tax records. He was 100% real. The fact he was no more the son of God than he was the mother of Freddy Adu is neither here nor there.

No mention of Lorenzo Insigne who primarily played on the Left Wing for Napoli and Italy is a bit of a miss, especially since Insigne played much more for Italy than El Shaaraway.
I very much hate left wing politics. But I've liked some left wing footballers, including one that was sensational for us (Sheffield United) even though he was only on loan with us for 3 months.
Google "Son Rudiger" or "Son Andre Gomes" for more info. Still amuses me that people claim him to be this wholesome guy when he's had a dirty streak in him that he's thankfully worked on these days

It would be cool if after you do the 11 positions if you do a best "utility men" or best players since 2000 that were ultra versatile and maybe difficult to fit into one role/position
Nah Alfie, I nearly died of laughter when you said Burger King during the Hazard segment, my brother and I have been calling him the Cheeseburger Man since he signed for Madrid!
I forget what year it was, but a PES game gave us a free LW Neymar when he was a 91 rated Barcelona player, that was dope as all heck.
He was such a great player for them back then.
That Giggs segment was just pure comedy😂
You're making the best content on The Old World so far keep it up
Why no Marco Reus?
Love the honorable mentions at the end. Great way to balance out the first several wingers.
Doku is coming guys. And Duranville.
Don’t include the ex best prime minister of England Maggie Thatcher without saying a bit on how much we miss her and skip over her death, how disrespectful to her people
7 worst defending champions since 2000 eg chelsea in 2015/16
My wife was wondering why I was laughing so loud when Ribery was introduced. LOL!
Son over Mane is ridiculous
Smells like more Prem/British bias to me. A Ballon d'Or winner below Son Heung-Min and Sadio Mane? Come on, mate.
Great video 🤙🏾💯
derlei hulk and falcao deserve honourable mentions in the next video i believe
Excellent List Alfie
Surprised to see no mention of Insigne
Taking Hazard over Ribery is just plain english bias.... You don't rank people for what they could have been... Ribery had a better career, more trophies, better stats and longievity
Surely a video on the only unbeaten team at the 2010 World Cup?
New Zealand 🇳🇿 is it 🤔. Because NZ, despite didn't reach the last 16 of the 2010 World Cup. But they get 3 draws out of 3 games.
How about the only team in 2006 World Cup who didnt concede a single goal?
@@mrlalalaelmo7454 And the first team to not score a single penalty in a shootout at a WC!! Truly remarkable stuff...
Sadio Mane was too good to be true
I wonder if CR7, Messi and R9 could have all worked well in the same team in this modern era of high pressing football, or if it would have been similar to the PSG issue where too many stars needed to be carried to be the worlds best team?
The game has evolved for sure the era of R9 was different than the era of CR7 and Messi
But the thing is they adjusted to their respective era of football
and guess what they are once in a lifetime players so their adaptation skill comes into play
remember CR7 started out as a flashy wide midfielder who was just all about tricks and entertaining people but he adapted to the physicality of the prem and slowly became the best player in the world and when his speed and athleticism declined due to father time catching up he again adapted to the role of a pure 9 who was all about scoring goals
So the end argument is they would just adapt🤷
You forgot the best one: Ronaldinho
Was already featured in a previous video.
Also made a video with attacking midfielders and Ronaldinho was the first.
@@needfoolthings by that logic Messi is not a winger as well.
In what world is el sharawy an honorable mention 😭😭
Surely Ronaldinho should be (arguably) 2nd or at least 3rd and push everyone below down a spot? One of the greatest of all time and played most of his career as a left winger.
Also Malouda not even in the honorable mentions? Seems harsh when you put El Shaaraway in there whos largely been unfulfilled potential
He has him in central midfielder video
“I can not reiterate it enough”
😹😹😹😹😹
U dont know ball
@@post-surrealHave you ever even seen Ribery play? 🤣
I think a video on the downfall of Nimes in France is needed
I'm not going to get tired of posting this - The 21st century began in 2001, not in 2000!
Sir, whether the calendar began at year 1 or year 0 is arbitrary as Jesus wasn't real 👍
@@Robinhickey2ndHe's in the tax records. He was 100% real. The fact he was no more the son of God than he was the mother of Freddy Adu is neither here nor there.

How did coman made the honourable mentions but not insigne?
Right? Overlooking Insigne when including Mertens (who was actually a centre forward on the same team)...
This guys Anti Ronaldo propaganda knows mo bounds
*Names Ronaldo as the greatest left winger of the 21st century*
This guy's anti-Ronaldo propaganda knows no bounds!
@@HITCSevens how dare you use logic in this argument!
1. C. Ronaldo
2. Neymar
3. Ribery
4. Hazard
5. Nedved
6. Mané
7. Son
That geezer at 0:58 looks familiar
See once you've completed the series, it would be interesting to get a follow up considering which of the squads would be the best. Would it be an 11 of the ranked number 1 or would it be lower ranked players due to all the considerations.
Also this series is crying out to be one of those crazy multiple hour edits.
your disrespect for Nedved. He was already last or second last in your Ballon D'Or Ranking, and now he doesn't even feature here. He is a fucking Ballon D'Or winner in the 21st century!
Brilliant running gag of the controversial issues with the left wingers here, enjoyed it as per
In my opinion
7 Heung Min Son
6 Ryan Giggs
5 Eden Hazard
4 Sadio Mane
3 Franck Ribery
2 Neymar
1 Cristiano Ronaldo
A "what on Earth" video on Sevilla seems fitting at this time.
i LOVEE the opening of this vid its funny asf
In my opinion Ribery should be in the top 3, maybe the best left winger after Ronaldo (Neymar had more talent but necer fulfilled it) and Ribery should have a Ballon d or, it was a robbery (and no I‘m not talking about him and Robben)
Ribéry did nothing better than Neymar , cut it out
Ronaldinho should be an honourable mention at least
didn't know that mane was allegedly dating a 16 yrs old, with his style of humbleness and friendliness. That fact definitely make me shocked🫠
Seems you forgot Mane finished second in the Balon Dor
Nedved won it and he didn’t even make the final cut.

Class of 92 look like a boy band😅 united’s marketability was something else
Clicked on the video purely for politics joke and was not disappointed
14:34 was excellant comedic timing
No mention of Lorenzo Insigne who primarily played on the Left Wing for Napoli and Italy is a bit of a miss, especially since Insigne played much more for Italy than El Shaaraway.
I love making my own list before each of these videos come out to see how close I get
I very much hate left wing politics. But I've liked some left wing footballers, including one that was sensational for us (Sheffield United) even though he was only on loan with us for 3 months.
This video is just making me concerned that Son will be in a controversy
Him being seemingly very wholesome and level headed from the outside balances the moral shittyness or criminality of the rest.
Google "Son Rudiger" or "Son Andre Gomes" for more info. Still amuses me that people claim him to be this wholesome guy when he's had a dirty streak in him that he's thankfully worked on these days
Good Luck for the forwards list. Its going to be absolute toss looking at the amount of worldclass forwards since the turn of the centuary. My fav R9 might not be in the list.
I come for the football facts but I stay for the very British humor
Jeremy Lynch.
Was David Villa a LW?
I think that the omission of Pedro is crazy. should be number 2 at least.
He was a right winger
@@mauricioandres7470 he always played on the left, rarely on the right.
You’ve clearly had a complete brainfart as you failed to mention Vicente Rodriguez, who joined Valencia from Levante in 2000 so basically had his whole career this century. He helped turn Valencia in a winning machine for the first time in 31 years. After 11 years he moved to Brighton where he became the best player any of his teammates had ever played with, according to a number of player polls. On what planet could you consider giving an honourable mention to Harry Kewell or Willian and not Vicente? I’d have him top 3.
It’s heavily epl biased tbh
I mean son and mane in the list tells you all you need to know
@@filler6749 true but Alfie normally does better than that and studies other leagues more thoroughly…
@@Tris2000 I agree he's usually very fair
He missed a lot this time on

Vicente at top 3? What a joke. You lose the credibility of calling out Alfie for not mentioning him in the HM by sharing such a moronic opinion.
In my opinion Ribery>Hazard
What is the name of the background music ???
