This is how you UA-cam...to the point, articulate, clear. Great video! Good advice.
Thank you surfnturf!
This guy is the palm whisperer believe him only
Always learn tons from this guy.
He is a wealth of Palm knowledge 👍🏼 🌴
Are you SURE you need all of that 20-20-20 spread SO much around that palm? It really looks like OVERKILL. I guess that you know best.
Thanks David. This was very helpful. Enjoy your videos!!
Great video, however you might want to give people a heads up with the AG spray since it's got iron in it. Overspray can stain like the dickens if you get it on concrete or block. I actually just bought a gallon of the stuff.
Great content, you are super knowledgeable. Add more tags to your content specific to the video. Palm pruning, specific names of the palms you cover, get really specific in those tags. Thank you for making this. I just bought a property with a ton of palms on it and this video is excellent. You are awesome.
is it safe to use fish emulsion fertilizer near palms? (like on adjacent plants)
This guy is amazing. Earth Works better be taking good care of him. He has a wealth of knowledge.
Just planted a Bottle Palm in front of our SW Florida home. I'm a novice, trying this for the first time. Is this product good for the Bottle Palm? Referring to the Nutritional Spray liquid.
Yes, absolutely
Well damn! I found Dave just in time as I bought 2 queens today. Glad to know Dave is doing this in the greatest county in the world, DUUUVAL! My man knows his palms and I’ll be back for more. Go Jags!
Can you please let me know what’s the best mix with lots of drainage for Bismarck Palm tree I’m in Canada I killed one because he didn’t have a drainage can you please let me know I really appreciate it thank you very much I just want to know what’s the best mix with lots of drainage I got a clay soil
While drainage is indeed important Bismarcks are only cold hardy to 30F. We recommend Wild Earth Mix #3 for most plantings along with Palm-tone.
Thank you for this video. Amazing information and great delivery. Can you please shoot some recommendations for a coconut palm. What type of granule would u use? Also anything eles tíos would help thank un!
BIG THANKS for the information coming from a Jacksonville resident 👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you STEEL PALMS ESTATE!
Than you David. I really enjoy your informative videos.
Glad you like them!
I have a question, you are very knowledgeable about palms. I have a 60-70 foot palm in my yard actually 13 of the them, but I noticed one of them wasn’t growing as fast. The leaves and spear seemed to be browning. I was told to add epsom salt, fertilizer for palms and baking soda to the soil. I added those but realized the epsom salt I added had eucalyptus oil in it 🫣 will that hurt it? And what do you recommend for my palm. They are 80 years old at least.
I think I burned up my foxtail. Is there any saving it? Anyone? Help??
Flush soil with lots of water and if using a granular fertilizer see if any can be removed without damaging the root system.
Can you please let me know my my Bismarck palm tree to where the leaves dry don’t but they’re still green why it’s on 25 gallon pond nursery it’s indoor thank you
Autumn off the pot wants wet, so eat got root rot. I cleaned it up and I put a fresh soil I water a little bit. No I wait see what happen do you have any suggestion?
Give this guy his own show!!! HGTV you listening?!
Very informative video. Just had new landscaping done. I'm about to fertilize and wondered if I have to lift the protective plastic covering on top of the dirt before I put the fertilizer; I'm using granules.
Hey Gloria, if the plastic is weed mat your granular should be able to penetrate it.
Nice voice clear and sharp
Use it i think u could make living from it
Hi, thank you for all of the information. I live in Southern CA and was wondering if the suggested 20-20-20 fertilizer is the “go to” regardless of where in the US one is located and the soil type. Thank you.
Thank you David .great video .
Hi David, I planted 5 palms , all of these are transplanted from one house to a different one. Would you suggest fertilizing them while transplanting to the new location? Also, what could i possibly use to reduce the transplant shock?
Appreciate your videos, just transplanted a 8 ft tall (not including root ball) mature canary date palm. Live in Southern California and watering every 2-3 days. Any suggestions for fertilizer in a clay soil environment? Much appreciated
Hii I firm palm 🌴 trees too but its hard for me I use pump for irrigation system it cost too much
Great video again.
You mention magnesium deficiency in Fl soil. What about Manganese which that deficiency causes frizzle top on queen palms? Is that as common as magnesium deficiency?
Via David: Magnesium deficiencies are more common and frequent in Phoenix palms, like Phoenix Canariensis and Phoenix Syvestris. This can be seen as yellow on the borders of the palm leaves, on either side of the rachis. A Manganese deficiency will show short, necrotic deformed leaves in the center of the palm, particularly in the new growth! The leaves will also appear to have been burned as the end are brown. A Maganese deficiency is a more severe deficiency, that needs to be corrected in a timely matter, if left untreated, the palm will decline rapidly within several months, whereas a Magnesium deficiency can persist for years without killing the palm.
I'm in Phoenix, AZ and we seem to love queen palms here. Manganese deficiency is a major issue here with them. I recently bought a bag thats 15%mn, 5%mg and 15%s. There isn't a decent looking queen palm almost anywere you find one, they do not like the heat, the soil or the lack of nutrients.
@@datsuntoyy I understand that for sure. Where I live we have the same deficiency. What I did was not only fertilize with normal palm fertilizer but also use Manganese Sulfate Monohydrate Powder from Amazon. You can get 3 lbs for around $20 and it will supplement that mineral specifically so you dont get frizzletop. You still need to feed the regular palm fertilizer because manganese isnt all you need obviously. But that is a great way to help the palms with manganese specifically.
So it’s 1gal per palm
Thanks David always good info from you appreciate it.
Thank you Mike!
I heard that Medjool Date can produce edible fruit in Jax area? Is this true ? Enjoy your videos.✌️
Yes. They are cold hardy to 15F. Soft & nutritious Medjool dates in your own yard :)
The Problem is taste. I heard to get a Medjool with great tasting dates it needs to be a pup from another Medjool that has tasty fruit. Growing from seed will most likely not give good results in terms of taste.
outstanding video, thank you!
I just planted a 6.5 gal queen palm here in northwest Florida. I mixed a bag of miracle grow - cactus, citrus, palm soil with the ground dirt and created a water retention ring around it and watered it well. The higher elevation in my yard helps the soil be well drained. Any other recommendations for me other than maybe putting some mulch around it? Thanks so much for any help. Love the videos.
So how many gallons per palm? So 2 gallons in the soil and 1 gallon on the trunk and down the crown by top spear? And you’re doing 4 capfuls per gallon?
Loved the Video , very Informative, I have a question about Revitalizing the soil in a 20 gallon barrel where a 6 foot Bismark Palm tree has rooted itself. I have been contemplating using Vermicule & perlite at the top of the soil so it eventually soaks into the soil. I have no intention of removing th ep[almt tree from the barrel for the next year or two until i can acquire land to plant it. SO my only alternative righ now is to just reinvigorate the soil as best i can so they can absorb nutrients.. The palm trees have for sure rooted in the entire barrel so these no way for me to remove and replace soill. The water is soaking into the soil 2-3 seconds after i soak it weekly so the soikl does have a thic sandy consistency, not mud, which is a positive thing, i thnik i can extend its life, Any advice is welcome
Thanks for the video, very educational =)
Hi I have 3 foxtails New Smyrna beach area. They don’t look healthy they’re about 4 or 5 yrs old. One of them has a stunted frond. The other 2 have no new fronds. How can I help them or know f they’re dying. Thank you
10-10-10 I throw it around the tree a couple times a year and my trees jump like crazy!!
David, your delivery of content is off the charts--8-2-12. Do you advocate staining truck?
Hi thanks for video. I have Pygmy and queen palms. I live in corona California. I have a drip system. Not sure is this is the best irrigation for my palms. I’m concerned with applying fertilizer with a drip system. Would I have to hand water to get the fertilizer to sink in? My palms look weak.
Thanks David! Always appreciate your informational videos :)
Glad you like them!
. Happy Easter dude. I just planted two foxtail palms a week ago. Can I fertilizer them now and if so what do you recommend I use? I love you channel your knowledge is priceless! Thank you kindly in advance.
I’ve just got my palm nutrition spray, how much do I use for a smaller palms?
Mix 4 cap fulls of Liquid Palm Nutritional to 1 gallon of water. Depends on what you mean by smaller palms? One gallon of the mixed palm Nutritional Spray, will be adequate for palms 5 feet or less and containerized palms. You can also spray the mix on the entire palm, the fronds, stems and trunk as a foliar spray.
Is it ok to apply fertilizer in winter in Florida? I have been getting mixed responses from different growers. Some say never fertalize in winter but i have a chlorotic palm in my front yard thats asking for it.
What would you do?
Good morning, very good presentation. One question. I have a sylvester Palm. It was planted two month ago, I'm worried about the lack of greening. I live in central Florida. What do you suggest?? (2 feet bark)
Phoenix sylvestris, genetically have a golden orange color in the leaf bases and leaf stems. At times this coloring, can be misunderstood as a nutritional deficiency, however it is not so! Be sure to look out for Magnesium deficiency and Potassium deficiency which can develope if the palm is not fertilized every three months!
@@davidcasella2934 thanks very much David,I appreciate it make pure sense.
Hi David I have a Sylvester palm tree.last spring it bloomed with dots. This year I want to trim them before they bloom as they get rotten. Can you recommend how to remove the them ?
David-you are the man! Can I follow this same fertilization process for palms in containers?
I have a 12-4-12 palm food fertilizer, would this also work?
Hi David, your videos are very helpful! I was able to save my pygmy palm by applying one of the fertilizers you show in your video.
I have a Sego Palm that turned brown after the last freeze in Gainesville Fl. What could I do do fix it?
Thank you for the direct, clear and concise information! I just planted 3 sabal palms in South Georgia. How long should we soak them twice a day for the first 2 weeks? Is 30 minutes too long? They were sitting in water when we purchased them. And do you ship the products mentioned in this video?
Hey Dave when are you going to start your own channel now that you left earhworks?
After his non-compete agreement ends.
What? Nooooo, I just found this channel. How can I find if he has a new channel?
David, We're also in Jax and wanted to get your help on a few palms I have.
I’m in Texas and have Mexican & Texas sables. Any suggestions? Thank u
Do you need a license as a business to fertilize a palm tree like that????
All fertililome fertilizers have that same strong stinky smell.
If this guy was in prison I feel like he could could fit in with the latin gangs, black gangs, and white gangs
What an ignorant comment. Go read a book and expand that narrow mindset!
Super informative stuff. Just had planted 4 Sylvester palms and was in need of some good info on how to maintain/ care for them. Thank you sir.
Love your video brother
Great content…. Very informative! Thank you 🙏
I’ve really got to get to your store
Please do! Open 7 days per week!
This guy should be a professor! He's awesome
🌴 always good information thanks !🤙🏽
Thanks for info regarding potassium & magnesium needs for my palm tree.
Thank you for watching!
Great video David thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
I am in North Florida. I put a fairly large Bismarck palm in about 3 months ago. Full sun. It is not doing well. I have fertilized it 3-4 times...maybe too much. I water it every 2-4 days depending on rain. Where can I get some help on this? My husband and I love this tree more than all other palms and it is front and center of our front yard. Help!
There are many reason why your Bismarck Palm may not be doing well. We recommend bringing photos in to the shop for local customers or you can email photos to earthworksjax@gmail.com and we can help assess the situation virtually.
Solid video, brother! Thanks. Texas recently got hit hard with single temp temps. Your info. is a life saver.
Hope your plants are doing well H20Spy!
What if the palm was planted in July? Should I wait till September to fertilize?
Newly installed palms should not be fertilized for the frist six months after planting.
super excellent,, thanks,,
This guy knows his STUFF.
Thankyou so much.
I have plants in my porch, lots of them, including palms, is anything wrong with doing that?
No. As long as they get the correct amount of light and water. if your porch is open air, that is good for humidity. if it is indoors and air-conditioned your plants may need a humidifier or some time outdoors intermittently
Are yucca trees treated the same way
Is David still with Earth Works Jax? I have a palm tree question.
@FengG0Such a loss.😢
This dude is bad ass
Impressed again!
Excellent video. Very informative. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks. And I'll be buying that book right away.
Appreciate your videos mate , I've got a Mexican fan palm , looks quite ugly but growing about 14' tall , is there anything I should be careful about trimming this type?
Good video big guy, you know bamboo and bizmark palms?
Any info /advise on Bayer/ blue plastic bottle? That work in TampaBay for me- I like organic- I’ll try that
Would would you recomand for a couple 15 foot queen palms in north WA? They just dont seem to grow, new frawns arnt even opening up anymore. Still nice & green. Average temp here is 48 & we get lots of cloudy/rainy days
Thank you thank you thank you, you have saved my beautiful palm trees!! I have no idea what I’m doing and my husband loves palm trees😵🙂
great video...my first palm tree in pot ever! learnt a lot from you. i just potted a two feet palm in cactus, palm, citrus potting mix. Should i add the palm tone now and also add liquid fertilizer every other week?
The liquid fertilizer that you showed here in this video. If it fall on my grass will it damage it? and will it stain my cement curves and river walk rocks? that are in my garden where I have my queen palm trees.
Can I water my palms after I apply copper fungicide
Thank you!!!
What’s the difference between the palm nutrientional and the chelated palm liquid?
Gud job brother
Great Video.
Glad you enjoyed it
@@EarthWorksJax you are welcome. You should do a video on the different "cuts" of Palm tree available. Diamond cut vs. Smooth trunk and other options. That would be informative and helpful.
Thanks for everything! I’m craning in two date palms and want to take care of them
Just bought a house and I noticed it has 2 palm trees that need TLC . Thanks for this video
Great content . No negativity in all the comments . Interesting
Nice content, thank you not many people on youtube know palm as good as you
I would love to purchase that book where can I find it
Hello do I put copper fungicide on recently planted queen palm
Thanks David, very helpful!
Very helpful information! Thanks for the book recommendation too as I live in Northern California.
Thank you and we are happy to help!
Soooooooo! Where's North Florida Tropics? Pull the hair! Chan has everything ready for you! Look at that physique! What about the Dino Ponson hybrid queen Palms?
More info please. Do you know something we all need to know? Thanks!
Mantap terimakasih infonya👍👍🙏
Awesome video with a ton of information
So informative! Thank you!
Very helpful video..Learnt a lot. I potted a pygmy date palm 3 weeks back. I added potting soiling/perlite/worm castings and a 8-2-12 slow release fertilizer during potting. I have it in my patio in big container, it gets direct morning sun for 2-3 hours and then shade. But the edges of the palm leaves are brown crusty/crispy. I am properly watering, even using moisture meter, no pest infestation. Still the ends are browning, curling, splitting into two...do u know what I can do and what's wrong with the plant?
Could possibly be not getting micronutrients try some azomite and the fertilizer you gave it has high nitrogen and potassium content could be burning the plant best of luck hope they pull through
Very informative 👏👌👍
Amazed by his knowledge. Truly inspiring
Great video. Thanks a ton!
