Question: Should the water hit the top height behind the body or in front of it?
I assumed the towel drill was for extension only. The idea is to hit something way out in front after landing. You can teach where/when to release if you set the object to be hit in the proper spot. Can't do any of that with a bottle. The rest of your ideas on the uses of the water bottle sound great. Just totally different purposes and parts of the delivery.
yeah, but that purpose with the towel makes no sense. Hitting a chair with a towel teaches a pitcher where to release an actual baseball off a mound? Nope. It just doesn't. What people say a drill is intended to do doesnt make that intention actually happen in real life. The towel drill is junk.
@@DanBlewett I would say it's a "trick" to help a guy who isn't extending to force extension, and then to develop muscle memory around that extension by doing it over and over again so that he can then go to the mound and know the feeling. Lincecum's dad had him pick up a dollar bill. It's just a "trick". Lincecum isn't going to leave anything out front during a game. And again, not meant for any other part of the delivery.... one trick to solve one problem.
