The 2020 BMW X6 M50i trades off practicality for sportier styling, continuing to compete in one of the most popular automotive segments that it pioneered. This latest generation X6 M50i features a 4.4L V8 making 523 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, which is very impressive given the fact that its not even the full X6M! Why does everyone always go on about the X6's rear boot capacity?
"The sloping roof means you can't carry as much as an X5."
Well DUH*! Of course you can't carry as much. It's the coupe version. So it has that sloping roof line.
However, it seems plenty big enough for 90% of people's needs. And if someone needs more space, then get the X5. Obvious!!
But I think this version of the X6 is gorgeous and personally, I'd take it over the X5 anyday just for its looks.

Owner of the previous Gen X6. I have never missed the extra Cargo space in the rear! For the one time a year that I need to pick up something that won’t fit, I just have that sh*t delivered lol! It just looks so much more sporty than the X5. The X6 is a crossover that a younger person can get away driving. The X5 looks like a 40+ year old car and I’m 43………LOL!
AggiePride4life fair enough on the practicality but I don’t agree on the age perception. I have the new X5 and I’m 27. The comments are get are usually how can you afford that rather than it’s an old person’s car

I love this car and hate hearing about the less cargo space versus the X5. I have yet to miss any cargo space. Why would BMW make the same car twice, LOVE the sporty style of the X6. The steering wheel lights, changing lane, and grill light features are so cool.

Also, when u do launch control, u want to hold it (build boost) a bit longer. No more than 3 seconds. It will launch harder.

what do you say about the x5 trunk vs the x6 one ? i just love the double folding doors on the x5 and the bigger sunroof on the x5 but i love the aggressive look of the x6, i really don't know which one to pick.
As an X4 M40i owner, I love the sport activity coupe sloped back look... Never understood the level of hate for these, nor the level of love for the square back SUVs. But my gosh BMW has lost their fricking mind with pricing. Who are these people out there willing to throw away tens of thousands of dollars in depreciation on these overpriced cars? I bought my X4 CPO for nearly half its original sale price, 3 years old.
Great review btw, the silver mirrors are something they've been doing on the M40i and M50i models.
Lastly, all hail green BMWs! Not a huge fan of Manhattan green, (too safe), hoping BMW brings back more dark metallic greens, if the silly '90s green car=bad stigma is finally fading.
P.S. My 83 year old Dad said he went to Plymouth to pick up girls in high school too! So funny you said that.
Interesting. I like the lights in the grill actually. Maybe just not the fact that the grills keep getting bigger though. Would personally opt for the x5m if I was looking for something in the SUV segment, just don't see a reason for that sloping back roof other than looks which is also debatable/preference.

The Manhattan green is awesome new color. For 100k u get the 40i msport here in UAE. They give u 5 years service for free includes all parts but not tyres. Still dont think it's good value for money but this is how it's done here .. its intersection though to see how some options comes standard in the cheapest x6 here such as the crystal gear knob. Automakers are having trouble coming up with fresh designs. So, they just exaggerate features. Lengthen the roof line, bigger grills, giant badges, more blinding lights....

Not sure I like the flashing steering wheel lights. Cars starting to have too many warnings, prompts, etc for me distracting from driving experience.

that stupid grey mirror cap is part of M-performance lineup shit....m240i M340i m550i m760i, m850i x3/4 m40i, x5/6 m50i all have these except u opt for black pkg.....i did for my m340i.

Yeah; I'm an overall fan of BMWs, but holy hell -- 90% of them are black, white, or grey (with black, on black, on black interiors). I love the more unusual colors and interiors.

I don't get why you say the sound pumped in the cabin is not authentic, does it not come from the engine compartment? To me a non authentic sound would mean the engine sound is synthesized/created by the amp/sound system artificially not just pass-thru.
It's artificial. Recreated/augmented via the speakers.

@EddieX oh yeah, it's imposing. Imagine that on the X7 or 7 series. That'd be insane. I gotta say, the grill is much less gimmicky than it seems in person. The grill fits the show-offy, style forward nature of the car.
They should just make the whole vehicle one giant laser light.

Had 1 X5 and 2 X6, not a fan of the new one. Unless you get DHP, this car has no soul. Cayenne is way better.

@@EddieX The X6 and GLE coupe are the 2 worst looking, the Q8 I find quite good looking.
These SUV coupe-like, slanted rear hatch ugly p.o.s. Are hard to look at. Not practical at all. I drove an x6 for cpl months, hated it. I test drove the gle coupe, hated it.
