Imagine what this guitar will sound like in about 50 years time. There are some good guitars coming out of Martin & Gibson these days and I think we are in a new golden age of guitar building. Tomorrow's vintage guitars....
I have this guitar. I'm from the singer songwriter period. JT ..America... Bread..Lindisfarne..The best period in my humble 67 yrs opinion. This will become a classic in later years. It fits that late 60 early 70s vibe. Ive only seen one negative review from a guy in sunglasses whos comments were turned off. Dont trust reviews from people in sun glasses.😅 Unlike this presentation. I agree with this assessment and thanks for your time.🏴
Listening to this vs the 000-18 played at the Martin museum.. how much of the difference is the acoustics of the room(?) because the bass sounds so much more velvety on that 000-18.. wondering how much it's location vs the materials because the DSS-17 just doesn't seem worth it compared to that (never mind how amazing the D-28 sounds in that same location). As it stands you've managed to convince me to spend twice as much money and wait until I can budget it in but I'm guessing it's mostly the acoustics of the space throwing me off.

Thanks for this review. I enjoyed the history lesson almost as much as the demo. Such a cool aesthetic.
Glad it was helpful!
Hard to see why I'd need a more expensive guitar. Beautiful.
Thanks, Pete!
Agreed! That's what I was thinking about this model. It has that dry old sound but with the clarity/crispness of a Martin that rings true. Great buy
Glad to see you back Spoon Phillips ! Enjoy your reviews/demo's👍
Glad you like them!
Dreadnaught Slope Shouldered Model 17 love the matte Whiskey top and the history, Spoon!! Great job.
Whiskey! :)

Thanks for the kind words!
Great reviews as usual
Glad you like them!
Martin killed it played one the other day
Yeah these are great
Martin needs to bring back the rest of the 17 series. 00-17E , 12 fret parlor, 000 Whiskey Sunset / Black Smoke. Those are wonderful guitars !
Right?!

IMO it's mostly the room. The Martin museum looks lovely but it's far from acoustically flattering, or even neutral for that matter.
I have the 00LE Whiskey Sunset ......very sexy looking (IMO).
Does UA-cam require all these ppl to play the same songs in their guitar reviews? 😒
Yes - so viewers can compare any 2 guitar videos with the only difference being the guitar.
Well that makes too much sense! lol
Ah.....cheer up.
