It is really a shame that the reputation of the Avengers game overshadowed this underrated gem of a game. I mean damn, the story was suprisingly mature for GoTG and I absolutely adored the characters. Especially Groot and Gamora. I feel like this is what was missing in the movies. Those black marks around the eyes, aswell as the short hair to the side really did it for me and I don't know why. It just looks, more assassin like, if that makes sense. As for Groot, making him even more buffed was definitely the right move. He just looked a bit to skinny in the movies if you ask me. I definitely disagree with you on using Drax's movie version outfit. In fact, I think it's the opposite, this outfit was pretty much the only one that I never used because it felt completely out of place. All the other characters of his race had the same look as his "standard outfit" and he even says "my skin is teal" in the beginning. I'm so happy I read the 2008 Guardians run before this. I know this isn't a popular opinion, but I don't super love the characterizations and humor of the MCU GOTG movies. This game really does justice to the characters and shows way more depth than the movies allow. It was great to see so many nods to the comics too. I loved the store and great connections between the characters and after a while, I felt awesome unleashing the combos of powers. Yes I did notice glitches and technical issues, but when I discovered all the great comic references like Throg, Ryder's Helmet, the Brood cage broken, it's not only one of my favorite comic book games, but like I said, one of my favorites
I understand why people whould be abit worried about this game because of the avengers game but most people i seen just straight was not messing with this game and I'm like 🤨😐
People really gotta try and differentiate between Developers and Publishers. While I probably won't get anything from Crystal Dynamics any time soon I may get more games from Eidos-Montreal.
The final boss, by all means, should be catalogued as "alright"... But man, Final Countdown needle drop is absolute perfection. It elevates the climax to being one of the most memorable gaming moments of the year.
You put my exact thoughts into video form on this game, but I’m more interested I. The ogre battle 64 you have in the background, one of my favorite strategy rpgs of all time
I am glad that when I used the chapter select to get a collectable, it actually worked. I was able to pick up the Assassin's Ring for Gamora, but it didn't show up in the log until a few chapters later.
This game was so good, that in 15 min I forgot that they all look diferent from the movies. And it’s because their personality is so similar that you eventually see them as the same characters 👍🏻👍🏻 Great intro man love it ! 👍🏻
I love his videos and they give me good ideas of what to play when I have nothing dont think ill pick this game up tho because he kinda made it seem like it's not that good without the special headphones it was made for
Never knew Guardians was such a cool looking game, might give it a shot! Also I really liked the diting and presentation of this episode!! The casette not quite fitting in the player at the Refine! bugs section was a nice touch
I had a blast with this game it felt like it blended the comic and movie characters together well along with giving them a bit of their own take on them. I am a huge comic fan ever since they got pretty rebranded in 2008 ive been in love with their comics and all the fun comic refrences were a blast especially the Emporium
I'm a firm believer in the value and necessity of linear story driven games. Don't get me wrong I enjoy a good open world game. I'm halfway through Horizon Forbidden West and I love it. That said, to avoid burnout anytime I finish an open world game I like to follow it up with a choice based story game (Supermassive/Telltale/Quantric Dream), racing game, or a linear story driven game (this or Uncharted). A while back the corporate games media was using the term linear as a pejorative, which would drive me nuts. I bought this game at launch and haven't played it yet, but the moment I platinum Horizon it's going into my console to act as a sort of open world pallet cleanser.
Saw the title and was originally expecting this to be about Telltale GotG instead of an apparently new Eidos one. Even with the bugs you outlined, I hope Square-Enix management learned better on how to properly manage a Marvel game (i.e. not forcing microtransactions down players' throats).
Easily the biggest surprise of the year.. Top 3 games released for me. Metroid Dread and Tales of Arise being 1 and 2.. Did not expect much of Guardians when it was announced. Boy was I wrong. GO PLAY THIS GAME!
Huh? The only bugs I encountered were easily fixable by reloading a checkpoint… which was fine because the game has a excellent auto save system… Def my game of the year
I’m just glad that Square Enix was able to redeem themselves with this game. I personally didn’t mind the Avengers game all too much, but I see that it was a bit of a misfire. Plus, who wouldn’t want to play a game with a talking tree and raccoon? Edit: Yes, I AM aware that Square Enix didn’t develop this OR the Avengers game, I was just saying that it’s kind of jarring that these two games were published by the same company.
Worst/wierdest bug I got was the prisoner from chapter 5 appearing in the Milan. Just standing there, not frozen, he moved about the same as he did in his cage.
Definitely gonna play this one based on the review highlighting how good the story is but definitely not doing it multiple times just for the damn plushies haha
I played on pc on day one. It was overall a great experience the only issue would be occasionally when finishing a fight it wouldn’t register that it had finished and I would have to reload checkpoint, and a hard crash near the end after the “so metal” cutscene. I honestly loved this game it’s brilliant. Also the space combat felt suuuuuper janky with a mouse.
Heeeey, I see you have Lego Marvel Super Heroes on your shelf in the background, and a playstation 3 copy at that! I played that game for hours on my playstation 3 with my siblings. Ah, those great memories of us racing each other and fighting the escaped convicts at the Raft prison. So much nostalgia.😁
Hey, Jirard. You should definitely complete Sonic CD in a future video. I recommend that you play the 2011 remastered version of the game developed by Christian Whitehead of Sonic Mania fame. Also, you can change the soundtrack to either the Japanese/European version or the U.S. version. I would like to hear your thoughts on both soundtracks.
So, quick question. Have any of the major game issues mentioned in the "Refine" section been fixed in the months since this video came out? I ask because I just finished my first playthrough of the P.S.4 version either today or yesterday (comment typed up after midnight), and I want to know whether or not the problems pointed out for chapter select will persist long enough to rule that out as an option for finishing the trophies.
Only magical is that I tried the demo of this game it may have kicked me out it probably had both the demo or maybe the servers were bugged but you know what it captivate me and like you said in this video you got to have your playthrough once I do love my favorite family/team in the galaxy and saviors of the Galaxy LOL the guardians of the Galaxy and honestly this game looks good I like the graphics I like the colors I like the shading I like the whole Shazam I'm a go for it I need to go through my one play through
Love this game as well and almost got the platinum, I think your pixel bugs were fixed but there are some other bugs that are few enough that you can ignore it but it does happen, the worst being frame drops, but it’s still an amazing game
I got burned by The Avengers but when I got this game it was fun as hell and I loved playing it the branching storylines based off of your decisions often suck but when done right it makes people wanna go back and play it again and I do

Yes I did notice glitches and technical issues, but when I discovered all the great comic references like Throg, Ryder's Helmet, the Brood cage broken, it's not only one of my favorite comic book games, but like I said, one of my favorites
I still love the new intro!
@@Lord_Phoenix95 its almost like a brand. Even if someone else made it the brand was tarnished
Been waiting for this one 😃
Moving so far up in the world, congratz on a giant Dolby sponsorship! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
The final boss, by all means, should be catalogued as "alright"... But man, Final Countdown needle drop is absolute perfection. It elevates the climax to being one of the most memorable gaming moments of the year.
Fitting years later Starlord would Incarnate form an Italian Plumber to a hungry lasagna loving cat!
Wait what?!? He got cast as Garfield too? Lol wtf
Didn't notice the Dolby Atmos section was an ad until I read the video description lol well played!
I only had a few moments where it slowed down, but no other bugs. Great game
Bro, I feel like the intros keep getting better. Kudos to whoever makes them
Can’t stop playing it. I’m loving every minute of it
Damn I know this game is easy to complete but damn I didn't expect this so soon man
Had such a blast with this game.
My favourite part of the game was the giant squid fight to kickstart my heart
This game was so good, that in 15 min I forgot that they all look diferent from the movies. And it’s because their personality is so similar that you eventually see them as the same characters 👍🏻👍🏻
Great intro man love it ! 👍🏻
why dose my entire body shiver for this new intro???
I love his videos and they give me good ideas of what to play when I have nothing dont think ill pick this game up tho because he kinda made it seem like it's not that good without the special headphones it was made for
I never thought I’d ever see a good Marvel game again, and I am so glad I’m wrong.
Spiderman? Wolverine?
Spider-Man? PS4/ps5 miles morales
Just finished this and I got to say I loved this game it felt just like a I was watching the movies
Never knew Guardians was such a cool looking game, might give it a shot!
Also I really liked the diting and presentation of this episode!! The casette not quite fitting in the player at the Refine! bugs section was a nice touch
The only time I ever missed the team boost was when the game bugged out and there was no dialogue audio and my teammates were just staring at me.
Avengers had me scared to buy this on release but now that some reviews are out looks like I'll be picking it up soon
That intro animation was literal chills man
I like the little pop ups. Keep those up
I had a blast with this game it felt like it blended the comic and movie characters together well along with giving them a bit of their own take on them.
Wow that new intro definitely has some sauce to it. A+ guys
Can I say the new intro is hype as hell!
I didnt watch the Movies but I loooove the game.
thanks for the coverage, glad you enjoyed it as well. Keep it up!
Me initially:it's cheap I'll try it
Me later:WHERE GONNA RIDE STRAIGHT
INTO THE FIRE!!! 🤘
Saw the title and was originally expecting this to be about Telltale GotG instead of an apparently new Eidos one. Even with the bugs you outlined, I hope Square-Enix management learned better on how to properly manage a Marvel game (i.e. not forcing microtransactions down players' throats).
This video was like 80% Guardians of the Galaxy and 20% of Dolby advertisement.
i can imagine the board meetings when they came up with the plot for this game.
"h...hey guys....what if the soul stone started a cult?"
Actually one of my favorite games ever 10/10 my game of the year!
"Characters never stop talking" This is why I love Kid Icarus Uprising
Easily the biggest surprise of the year..
Top 3 games released for me.
Metroid Dread and Tales of Arise being 1 and 2..
Did not expect much of Guardians when it was announced.
Boy was I wrong.
GO PLAY THIS GAME!
This introduction is just 🔥
The Guardian's of The Galaxy game soundtrack had no business being as good as it is lol.
I have heard literally nothing of this game other than it was being made. But after seeing this, I feel like giving it a try. Looks really good
Huh? The only bugs I encountered were easily fixable by reloading a checkpoint… which was fine because the game has a excellent auto save system… Def my game of the year
Loveing the new intro
I’m just glad that Square Enix was able to redeem themselves with this game. I personally didn’t mind the Avengers game all too much, but I see that it was a bit of a misfire. Plus, who wouldn’t want to play a game with a talking tree and raccoon?
Edit: Yes, I AM aware that Square Enix didn’t develop this OR the Avengers game, I was just saying that it’s kind of jarring that these two games were published by the same company.
Square Enix didn't make it.
@@fillerbunnyninjashark271 Bu that logic Square Enix didn’t make Avengers either. Both Avengers and Guardians were made by studios they owned.
@@treesnip5667 no they didn't make avengers either.
this is Square? how bafflingly inappropriate for them.. glad it worked.
Square Enix is just the publisher.
This game utterly surprised me with how much I enjoyed it. It's mostly the writing that I absolutely enjoyed!
ayo what was that song being played before the intro?
I just finished listening to the Wastelanders Old Man Star-Lord podcast, and I loved it, so I might just pick up this game!
I get the need for sponsorship, but this one was very much you beating us over the head with a bat labeled Dolby.
Can we all just agree this damn soundtrack is AMAZING!
Only magical is that I tried the demo of this game it may have kicked me out it probably had both the demo or maybe the servers were bugged but you know what it captivate me and like you said in this video you got to have your playthrough once I do love my favorite family/team in the galaxy and saviors of the Galaxy LOL the guardians of the Galaxy and honestly this game looks good I like the graphics I like the colors I like the shading I like the whole Shazam I'm a go for it I need to go through my one play through
you know ngl, that intro is amazing
Love this game as well and almost got the platinum, I think your pixel bugs were fixed but there are some other bugs that are few enough that you can ignore it but it does happen, the worst being frame drops, but it’s still an amazing game
I think the plushies must have been a personal attack on Jirard, to mock all 100% percenters hahaha
I got burned by The Avengers but when I got this game it was fun as hell and I loved playing it the branching storylines based off of your decisions often suck but when done right it makes people wanna go back and play it again and I do
