Maybe it's because I'm old school but I think a curly tail grub on a round jig head is easily one of the most versatile lures ever made. It can be worked slowly like a swim jig or reeled steady like a paddle tail, kind of covering both bases. Sort of a forgotten bait these days. It's been around forever, but it still crushes all species of fish year round. You can probably put the tube in this category as well.
Absolutely! I am major old school, Mister Twister 3" or 4" grub on a 1/8 to 3/8 ounce round jighead. I even resisted the tube lure craze of the mid 80's.
Yes, the subtle action from a grub tail is so tantalizing. I caught a 2 lber and 6 lber at a highly pressured pond tge other evening on a homemade beetlespin underspin with a black powerbait 4" grub just swimming it
Great video, Randy, always appreciate your insights. I took your advice re: the 1/16th oz Gammy Tricky Head a while ago and it flat catches fish - happy to support your TW link, too!
I really wish a Shakey Head worm caught fish for me. In all my years of fishing, I have caught exactly 1 fish with it. I refer to it as a Boat only lure. It just does not instill confidence in me as a fish catching lure. I’m sure there is some user error, but not to the point of never catching a fish. Maybe when you get the new boat you could do an on the water video of how we should fish a Shakey Head.
I agree with you all the topics except one. The hot foot I love love love it driving with one hand on throttle and one the wheel seems obsolete. I want 2 hands on the wheel at all times
Doesn’t really pertain to us in the upper Midwest, we have hardwater season. Although I’ve caught bass shallow and deep with ice fishing baits, usually early ice👍

I agree.
Yeah, good call.

I'm a 3" or 4" Mister Twister guy myself. Even resisted the tube lure craze of the mid 80's .

Yup, I agree ! Thanks Randy !

I agree! I fish outside Chicago here in Illinois and fish silt bottom. I never catch fish on a shaky head- ever.
Shakey is big here but if there was silt I'd probably go drop shot. Shakey and top water walking baits are my best stuff.
Great video
Shaky head worm does my pretty good year round. Thanks Randy !👍
Gotta catch that fly on a jig!!
Good idea for a video
i cant say shakey head but a texas rig 8th ounce with a zoom finesse trick worm has cuaght more bass than anything for me
I expected a spinnerbait to be one of the four.
Agreed. Definitely 💯 one of my year round baits
Or even an underspin.
Will these be just as good fishing from the bank?
I think you miss one more. The Spoon.. lot don't use them. It's year-round lure

Jig, jerkbait, carolina rig and something else. 🙂 That's 4, now I don't have to watch.
Rattle trap
Randy, I can’t stand you or your channel. When does the next video come out, I want to have my very well-conceived trolling comments ready to go.
😉
Lol
