    I won a club tournament at Lake Oroville long ago. Glad I got to experience that. I recall first seeing this rig from a BassMasters show or article in the 80s.

    Randy- ❤ Love the idea of moving away from braid to fluorocarbon and a shorter 12” leader for a floating worm. Also what about merthiolate for color?
    A couple years ago you were saying that a floating worm was the only braid to fluorocarbon technique that you used. The braid kept the lure on the surface.
    You should just say that I improve my floating worm technique to catch more fish. This is what I have done.
    I have watched all of your UA-cam video and can see you are contradicting yourself.
    I have caught more bass because of you so I am very appreciative! Thank you!
    Rarely get skunked!

    Many years ago when I bass fished, I was launching and a old man just walked up and started talking. Asking me how often I came to that lake and how well I did on a average day. I had a good catch ratio, especially in the Spring with the pads and hydrilla. He walked to his boat, came back with a hand full of Zoom white floating worms and told me to try that. I pulled all kind of hogs in the boat that day. My bag was loaded with floating worms of different colors from that day forward. White, bubble gum and yellow seemed to be the best on the few lakes I fished.

    I learned this trick back in the 80s when I Bass Fished in Florida. I never used it much... Too much grass 😊🎣✌️

    Yes Doug Hannon, I loved the guy, interviewed with him to be a cameraman (underwater) I am/was a Rescue diver and applied to do it. I didn’t get hired because I was active duty Navy in Jax, Florida. As far as Randy doing a video on it, I’m glad because I pretty much forgot about this tactic, so I appreciate the tips. It’s good to talk about these things..

    I think we can all thank Nick Crème for not only the plastic worm in general it his original concept of rigging a nightcrawler some 60 years ago. I do like the way Randy does it.

    I have the best swimming worm rigging technique there is , it involves 2 hooks and a swivel and when done right it spins but to a fish looking from underneath it looks like it is swimming and for shallow water fishing it is the best lure I have ever used bar none especially for smallies !

    Love your videos Randy, but Davy Hite showed this on an old school bassmaster episode from back in like 1996… back when he was sponsored by V&M Soft plastics…exactly the same setup. It does work great.

    Randy, I tried to use your tackle warehouse links but; They almost always take me to a page of several different items instead of the specific model of the item you are talking about, the spinning rod mentioned in this video is not available, Adermine. I can't find the medium action rods you mentioned. Also you didn't mention what size swivel you use., looks to be a 6 or 7 but not sure. If you want to earn a benefit from your links how about making them go to the correct item. I was trying to buy the exact setup you promoted but it's difficult with out the correct information.

    Hello, In the introduction photograph, there was the worm, hook, swivel and a “split ring”. I never heard or saw any mention of the split ring in Randy’s presentation. Did I miss something of the set up? Thanks excellent tip.

    • @GS-zv3qn
      @GS-zv3qn 22 дні тому

      I noticed that too,where would the ring be placed if it gets used

    • @af4od02
      @af4od02 22 дні тому

      @@GS-zv3qn I don’t think the split ring was used. I thought it might be used between the Fluorocarbon line and 1/0 straight hook to provide weight or maybe to allow the worm to oscillate more. But, Randy buried the hook tie point well inside the worm.

    Randy…is this technique effective on small rivers?

    • @dariuslambert8659
      @dariuslambert8659 22 дні тому

      I think it would work good. It has a similar action to soft plastic jerkbaits which work well in rivers. I think it would be best in deeper slow moving pools. Im not super knowledgable but that just my thoughts.

    Are a Zoom Floating Worm and a Zoom Trick Worm the same thing?

  • @chriscardoza6164
    @chriscardoza6164 21 день тому

    Awesome information as usual! Since I've started following you I hardly watch anyone else's videos! The info is great, the delivery is great, length of video is great,... The bit of info that I'm missing is how to set the hook on the different soft plastic bites. Does the bass suck the whole plastic in or do they commonly bite some worm first? Do I set the hook when I feel the bite or give the fish a second or two to let it get the whole thing? That trick worm looked to be 8-10" and in your other recent video was 12" and you said you'll even use longer! I want to make sure that I'm armed with the knowledge before I invest in new plastics, new books and new swivels on a method that's new to me.

  • @laddy7166
    @laddy7166 21 день тому

    Wow, and to think I have been doing it all wrong since 1988. By putting the worm on straight you get no side to side movement??? Come on to SC and I WILL school you on how to use the Trick Worm. I keep one tied on year round, water temps be danged! Oh and I do throw it on a bait caster and could show you a thing or two on how you could catch more...Give me a break, Randy. I do have a back up on a spin cast but 98% of the time I throw it on a bait caster. Oh and Murray is my home lake...

      Amen. Read that article whenni was young. Used two snap swivels, size 1 or 1/0 bait holder hook and purple crème worm. Rigged crooked up the bend. Corkscrews though water but in 2D looks like a baby snake swimming! Caught loads of smallies ate youth camp.

    why post or comment here because I hope u read this randy
    as u know I've been a subscriber to your channel for years and agree with 90% of your thoughts
    but far as killing bass with tournaments is pure wrong and I got facts to prove it
    1. I own 3 ponds on my land
    one 25ac other 2 or around 22ac each
    yes all or over 22feet deep
    here is the facts from dnr
    I ask them to help me grow more bass and bigger bass
    they used my ponds as a study
    one we keep all bass we caught under 16 inches yes gave away to who wanted them
    and fact that pond grew bigger bass and shit ton of bass over 8lbs in 6 years
    there is a video of a biologists explaining why we should keep some bass under 14 inches to eat
    ok ok maybe this will help
    why u think dnr has limits
    why????? Just answer that and keeping limits what it does to the bass population in a lake pond river
