@@gocomitdead government officials covers a pretty big range of people, and thats if you are talking about federal people. If you include state level officials it would pop up the numbers to literally thousand and thousand of people. And making all of them unable to invest is so antidemocratic.

Failure to report stock trades results in a whopping $200 fine. Wow. So much.
Also, if they are ever suspected of insider trading, the Committe on House Ethics is the body that investigates them. It's literally up to Congress to invesitage whether Congress members commit insider trading. It's the very definition of, "We investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing."

@@ANDREALEONE95 She isn't using public information to make her trades. Her and other politicians have seats on special councils, like Council of energy, military councils, or Economic councils etc.
These councils often make massive decisions on what companies will receive government contracts worth billions of dollars. They are also months in advance informed of massive changes to companies, patents, and IRS filings from companies.
A good example is the CHIP race. the Biden administration awarded billions of dollars to Nvidia and Intel to build a microchip manufacturing facility in Texas just in case Taiwan was to fall to China if they invaded. Nancy had knowledge of this months in advance before the announcement was even made. She made an estimate $1.3 million off that trade alone.

Maybe an exec or manager said, "In 12 months we'll be increasing production 400% and know the market will be hot with demand for drones, etc etc etc".... THATS INSIDER KNOWLEDGE.

Congress should absolutely not be able to trade stocks. Maybe they can hold some long term ETFs but that's it. Its OBVIOUS insider trading and unfare advantage. Let alone conflict of interest. Congress should be focused on voter's portfolio's.
Well yeah, insider trading and stock manipulation are effective methods afterall. So betting on someone proficient in it is the way to go. *note* ignore the troll below. They simply need YOUR attention so they feel like a truly valid individual in life instead of the bundle of uninformed hate they are. If you ignore them the hole in their life grows.

@ANDREALEONE95 I'm not saying investing on public knowledge is insider trading. I'm saying Pelosi is involved in insider trading as she makes choices she knows will affect the market, or sees how other people will make similar choices.

How are people just now figuring this out? Congress makes the laws. Insider trading doesn't apply to congress, they wrote the law that way intentionally.

Honestly, her portfolio is basically the mega tech stocks. Basically if you invested in the Mag 7 or FAANG stocks, you would match her performance.

Why is everybody surprised about NVIDIA stocks going up?
I bought this stock when the government announced they were making a contract. Nancy bought it a week before the announcement but it’s not insider trading shes a Democratic congresswoman.

@@RTanna89all countries too. Last year a few Norwegian (my wife’s home country) politicians got ousted for shares in weapons companies. That’s just two ousted, most members of the Norwegian government probably have them but just haven’t been revealed. No matter what, politicians will be corrupt sadly. The ex prime minister’s husband didn’t even get investigated even though he most certainly was doing it. World’s screwed up, man.

Comparing a very controversial and corrupt politician to michael jordan is wild to me. Like, illegal insider trading shouldnt be considered "great", especially with the actual legitamate greatness of MJs NBA career. Just because shes good at breaking the law doesnt mean shes "being like mike" but in the stock market.

At least your politicians disclose their shares… in my native Canada legally they don’t have to. Not saying it’s morally right but it happens in most countries unfortunately, lots of it is just kept under wraps or “best friends “invest for the politician’s gain instead.
Just a reminder that this woman benefitted finacially during the pandemic, and was committing the frderal crime of insider traiding. If anyone asks what benifit anyone wouldve gotten from the Corona, shes a living example of it.

@@ANDREALEONE95 Well, the problem is that most people in Congress sit on a wide variety of comities. These comities have wide overreach and advanced knowledge of market trend information (in some cases even creating policy that affects it) before anyone else knows about it. For example, members of congress were briefed about the COVID well ahead of the general public and were able to sell their shares in the hospitality industry - thus avoiding any loses. That's just one example. In this case, Nancy Pelosi knew ahead of time (i.e. before it was public knowledge) about NVIDIA's plans and bought stock accordingly.
