I have been living in Albuquerque for close to 20 years, and yes the crime has become out of control, homelessness and theft sure is bad. Yes, beautiful city but unsafe as hell to try and stay a while just stay away from certain areas and you will be fine. Also if you go looking for trouble, you will find it.
I mean, ABQ is a weird place. If you stay in one place long enough, you're bound to see something wild. Who cares about our image? Reality is what it is.
The common mantra that 'all cities have these problems' is not true. Many cities do not have these problems. Anyone that has lived here for over 6 years has seen this mess explode under the current Mayor.

I've been calling it America's butt hole since yr 4 of living here but I keep having set backs like getting my car stolen or vandalized or medical stuff... Ugh I've lived all over the west and this place and Bullhead city are the absolute shittiest places I've ever lived.
