Side note for those who didn’t notice, the Whispers caused Wedge to die the same way he did in the OG game (the way he was meant to die).
Yeah, but what I don't get is people saying stuff like "Why even bother? He died afterwards anyway, so they could have cut it out completely."
No. We got a super good insight into who Wedge is as a person through his survival. He came so close to dying the 'first' time but got straight back on that horse and went back into fighting for his friends and family. We saw that he was someone who had huge insecurities but when push came to shove, he moved forwards with the same heart that he always had. He inspired those three recruits to keep fighting on, even after he was gone, and gave care to those who needed it when they needed it. He was just such a kind, loving, brave person who second-guessed whether anything he did was worth it or not. It was. It absolutely was.
Talk about being made to love a character who I pretty much shrugged over in the OG. Wedge lost his second chance at life and showed us the truth behind the Whispers - that they weren't content to just force a situation at the juncture of it, but also to kill beyond the bounds of a situation to 'right' the history they wanted to exist. But those small moments between his first and second death - I fully expect them to come back in the third game and to MATTER.
I think this also means that there’s a rule that if Whisper’s can directly cause someone’s death it has to fated to happen (Ie died in the OG game) and that it must be the same method a person died.
They can still “mess” with characters but not directly harm.
For Gilgamesh, anytime he's in something, he's canonically the same Gilgamesh from FF5. He's just constantly dimension hopping
I think there's only like, 2 or 3 exceptions, maybe? I could be wrong, but I think FF15's Gilgamesh is different. Could be 10000% wrong, tho.
@@lacarthcinclair5401yeah ff15 Gilgamesh is pretty integrated into the lore, rather than being his usual out of place dimension hopping self. Also lacks all of his quirkier personality traits

@@jameslawrenson1208 In FF5, he basically falls through a portal. The assumption is that he has been showing up in all the other games between then and when he shows up later in the game.

I do recommend seeing the other gold saucer dates since they are super cute and interesting, and some are important story wise so you should watch them eventually (maybe a reaction to them as well?) Aerith is always the one singing but depending on the girl with the current highest affinity, they’d play Rosa but if you got Barrett or Red, it’d automatically be Aerith, I believe.
You most likely got Aerith because you maxed her out right after Red, and did two side quests for her which bumped her past Red so your gold saucer date is whoever has the highest affinity then. Even if you maxed everyone out, there’s still “invisible” points being given for side quests, synergy abilities, etc.
I’m really happy to see your reaction to Aerith though, there’s not many playthroughs I’ve been watching who got her and you’ve been my favorite gaming UA-camr for a while who played the OG so was anticipating to see your reaction to it :) I also loved the “im searching for you” line and am so happy they stayed faithful to it.

In regards to Wedge’s death scene, I’m pretty sure everyone thought the implication of Wedge getting tossed out the building due to the Whispers and hearing the glass break meant he died there. It’s very similar to how he died in the OG Game and I believe the reason they probably didn’t show Wedge dying on screen is that FF7 Remake did not show any blood unlike Intergrade and Rebirth.

Well, since Nico fast traveled the whole date, he didn’t get to really experience the unique music the gold saucer has that mixes the saucer theme and the date character’s theme, which only plays during the date.
Imagine if the Sephiroth in Cloud's head tried to show up and mess with him during the play... only for the Genesis in Sephiroth's head to start pestering him about how amazing Loveless is.

Hmmm…..Nico, it’s hard to explain anything at this point in the game. But here’s the STONGEST advice you should consider. Anytime you see a Stamp dog on a poster, or a wall, or a bag of chips, or as a stuffed toy, pay very close attention to it.

In regards to whether their are two Clouds in Zacks timeline, at the very beginning of the game some troopers mentioned that their was a missing 'Ex-Soldier with a Buster Sword, highly dangerous' from the people they captured. But Zack had only just arrived in Midgar while carrying a mako poisoned Cloud. This along with Marlene being at Aeriths house and that Avalanche was with Aerith and Red when they were captured points to all of remake having actually happened in Zacks timeline with the divergence being they got caught up in the storm that fucked Midgar up preventing their escape, also the Cloud of this timeline has seemingly vanished during these events.
So the best explanation that fits is like Biggs, Zack and comatose Cloud were transported to this new timeline during the fight with Shinra's army. I guess a few soldiers corpses were brought over too because they were in close proximity when they were transported but other then those few none of the 500+ troopers bodies from said army that we should have seen were around either. They also seemed to have skipped forward in time a few months or so as well until after the events of remake in Zacks timeline happened.
We need a conspiracy board with red string to track this insanity.
Wow, I can't believe Sephiroth joined Cloud on the ferris wheel, what a touching moment, especially when he start describing his favorite things to Cloud. The shape of those things, the color, the reasons why he likes it, the power it'd give. Than Cloud realized he was talking about the Black Materia, so he tried to jump out the window.

So, something you have either forgotten or missed about Zack's situation. In the beginning when Zack arrived in Midgar, we saw the news about the aftermath from the ending of Remake, where Aerith was found wounded and unconscious with Red, Barret, and Tifa. This wouldn't had happened if Cloud never met Aerith. Additionally, in the same news, we hear they are looking for one more person. A guy with spikey hair and a big sword, aka. Cloud. Yet from Zack's perspective, he and Cloud just arrived, so that couldn't be the case. Basically, this is a timeline that is a mix of Remake and Zack's, with Zack having been sent forward in time.

I think the writers probably assumed that Wedge dying there would have been the obvious assumption. Because honestly, it IS the obvious assumption. I don't blame people for thinking that there could have been some weird shit, but the easy assumption is that he just died there. It didn't really need to be "revealed" that he died, because it's not a SURPRISE that he died. He got pushed off a massive tower, it's just that people were, justifiably or not, overthinking the situation when the reality is just that simple.
Well, with the Arbiters of Fate, it kinda makes sense why people though it could happened something different, the fact that Biggs who we thought was also dead being alive in another timeline really makes people think the same could happened to Wedge, for me, is quite surprising that Wedge was actually Dead and confirmed by this game when on the same game they showed us Biggs being teleported to another timeline after we thought he was dead, specially since they didn't killed wedge in the part he dies in the original.
Honestly wedge surviving just feels kinda... random at this point. He didn't really do much and then he dies for real later in the same game.
@@Luka9S9 See I take issue with that because of the three Avalanche members, Biggs' death was the only one NOT caused by the Arbiters, they weren't really there for his death in Remake. Jessie was straight up killed by the Arbiters, because she was set to survive until they blew her grenade up in her face. I personally figured that Wedge was the same deal. He lived longer than he should, the Arbiters fucked up their job, and so they corrected later on by killing him at Shinra Tower. I thought that was the whole point of them shoving him out the window. Because they were trying to keep to the original timeline, so they would interfere to make sure characters lived or died as they were supposed to (because they saved Barret's life not long after, because he's supposed to live)
@@aneonfoxtribute fair enough, I just find it odd that they send Bigg's to another timeline, basically making him dead in Cloud's timeline, and the on the Remake they not showing him actually dead, to them we having on Rebirth everything about Biggs, being send to another timeline and all, making it looks like the "death" or not of certain characters in a timeline, like Biggs, is not a issue, but Wedge being alive was actually an issue and having to correct it, just seems a little bit weird on what character should be send to another timeline and wich ones should actually die and for what reason, but oh well, I guess we'll see as we go on in this Playthrough.

As for the date, Aerith has all the tiebreakers in her favor. I can tell you for certain though, NO ONE had their affection maxed out, including Red. When you beat the game, one of the things the play log shows you is everyone’s affection levels.
There's a sick, twisted part of me that wishes whoever goes on the date with you would also be the one to sing Aerith's song. Can you imagine Barret singing No Promises to Keep?

Nico I’m so glad you enjoyed the date as much as you did. I personally got Red because I decided to go straight to the saucer without doing any of the side quests that start in ch12. I thought I’d get Tifa cuz I had maxed her out, but I was wrong.
That being said, I highly highly HIGHLY recommend watching the other dates and reacting to them. Each of them is incredibly special in their own ways. You can even get a date with Cait Sith but that had to be on New Game +
Also just so you know. There are 2 versions of every persons date. A standard version. And an intimate version. You got the intimate version of Aerith’s date because you have her maxed out. If you had no one maxed out the game would choose the person with the highest stat, but you would get the standard date. And those usually entail Cloud, being the most socially inept person imaginable, essentially staying reserved and not fully connecting with his date.
And yes, this is 100% game of the year. If it’s not it’s rigged. I just wish this game was selling more copies. This is huge step above remake gameplay wise and yet it’s not selling as well. It honestly makes me sad.
I get where you’re coming from Nico, with the whole Wedge thing, but when I saw in Remake that Wedge got pushed out the tower and it cut to black with him saying something like “I wish I could’ve done more to help,” I knew he died, and a lot of people assumed as much. Normally, I would think well a body wasn’t shown, so he must be alive or they’re going to do something with him later, but I chalk it up to having a weird presentation that they figured they would correct in this game to give it finality. For the people who assumed he was still alive and not dead. This was just confirmation, but what Wedge was saying and hearing the glass shatter to be thrown out the window, yeah he wasn’t surviving, and I guess they didn’t have plans for him to be whisked away by the whispers to another place either.
He actually said “Just tell me that I made a difference.”
Honestly this was a scenario in which I feel like we NEEDED to see the body to have confirmation. Given that whispers were involved and that it’s been more or less confirmed at this point in the story the Biggs got taken to a different timeline.
I think they left it semi ambiguous like that because they MIGHT have wanted to do something with him, maybe all 3 of them coulda lived in Zack's world and formed a party of 4 or something, or maybe wedge or Jessie coulda been left out and kept to 3, I can imagine a scenario like that floating around in concept, but its possible either for time or budget reasons or simply just story, Zack's side in this game is as small as it is and almost has to be something more in the final game?
I want to point out 2 different things since you understandably are confused by them.
1.) The part about Wedge dying wasn’t supposed to be some kind of surprise. The surprise had to do with the Whispers and what their role was in Remake. If you remember a couple scenes before that one, Barret gets flipping stabbed by Sephiroph and dies, but a whisper flies through him and brings him back to life. However, they don’t do the same to Wedge. They make sure he dies, and in the same way he does in the original 7. The goal of the whispers in Remake is to keep the timeline the same. It’s only now that things are different because of what our heroes did is why there are two sets of whispers now. The black whispers and the white whispers. One fights for the original 7 timeline, as well as for Sephiroph, and the white ones are trying to grant the heroes a new future.
2.) If you remember at the beginning of the game, when Zack saw the broadcast about the heroes minus Cloud, he saw them being taken into the choppers at the highway, where the Midgar section of the game would have ended originally. I think it could be inferred that without Cloud, everything up until that point happened, but perhaps with a different character. Maybe Tifa was the one who fell, or maybe it was Barret. Either way, it leads to all the same events going on. Aerith goes to see Marlene, she gets captured, the Tifa and Barret enters Shinra HQ, they meet Nanaki, and they escape. Only for their adventure to end before it could truly begin.
Ohhhh, right, that fall into the church is what the big difference was! If it was Tifa, that's a great set-up for a Tirith shipping AU! Thank you for giving me the idea! :)

I have no doubt that Nico’s going to react to the other dates too but I really hope he also gets to see the other character’s reactions to Aerith’s song when you have them as a date. Yuffie and Barret’s are so funny and Tifa and Red’s are just absolutely adorable!

The rest of the party then go on a 40 day long journey to track down Cloud and save him from the clutches of Dio

Related to the CotD, another gameplay tip that you don't seem to know based on something you said last episode: Aerith's Warp ability. It's use is not to put you back in your ward when you're knocked out of it, which you seemed to think it was last time when you said that the Warp cooldown isn't useful. Its use is to allow you to jump between MULTIPLE wards instantly. Aerith can also cast her Wards on characters other than herself. With these two things in mind, you can have Aerith just casting Wards across the map and being able to teleport between them. Like you can cast a Radiant Ward on Cloud, have Aerith teleport to it and do some damage, then cast the Arcane Ward on Barret, teleport to that, and unleash a double cast spell, and then teleport BACK to the Radiant Ward to keep up your damage.
1:26:03 I've seen Loveless so many times after timestamping a 3hr video of every date scene, "Release Me! My blade thirsts for vengeance!" has become a trigger word.

Hilariously enough, if you decide What is Barret/Garm’s weakness (depending on who you fought first) the difficulty for the next clash reduces to 1.
While if you decide to pick either of them as your soulmate, the difficulty MAXES OUT TO 4 STARS!!! I love the little details of this game so much!!!

In case you didn’t fully figure it out, Loveless' plot is basically the story of Final Fantasy 7, but without a true happy ending. Cloud plays Alplreid who is the Cloud of the story. A hero who is a prisoner to his vengeance.
Aerith plays Rosa, the Aerith Counterpart, a princess who is doomed to be separated from her love.
And Barret plays Varvados, the Sephiroth counterpart. The main villian who challenges the hero's beliefs and fortells his doom to becoming a puppet of vengeance.

I'll admit that I don’t know what Garn would represent in the play, but I would assume he's the counterpart to Jenova, as he is a beast from hell who has the same weakness to love as Varvados does.
And I’m pretty sure you figure out that the mechanical city at the beginning of the play is a Midgar counterpart.
To be fair, if Cloud is having visions of the future and other timelines, then Marlene also having them isn't that farfetched. The question is, is the reason for Marlene having these visions because of Aerith's influence, or is that lonstanding fan theory about Marlene being of Cetra descent true?
It could be. A lot of people think that the reason Dyne could hear his wife’s voice was because she was trying to speak to him from the Lifestream. But in his grief it made him fall off the deep end and go crazy.
@@oreotaku4017 Yeah, it could be that their are people who are of Cetra descent and don't know it OR it's actually possible for ANYONE to hear the voices of the dead from the lifestream under the right circumstances, but not everyone is aware of it.

Fun fact, at 10:02, Lucia and Matt were Glenn’s friends in FF7 Ever Crisis! It’s nice to see them mentioned, though it might imply that they aren’t with Glenn anymore if they were helping Avalanche and not the SRC with Glenn.

Ok, Aerith’s song was incredible.
So, the date scene is interesting. Each of your characters has an affinity level. Doing every bit of side content, using all of the synergy abilities, etc. will get everyone to the max level. When all characters are at max affinity, though, the game does have some RNG options that add extra points to characters. In this way, if you have everyone at max affinity, it is completely random which date scene you will get. The even more fun aspect, though, (and I hope this doesn't count as a spoiler, since we've passed the date scene? If so, a mod can feel free to delete this comment!) is that if you keep everyone's relationships at the absolute minimum, you can get an extra special date featuring... Vincent, Cait Sith, and Cid!

@@ryujin8754 Upon reading this comment, I went out to look. Apparently... yeah... that's the "intimate" version... I think the reason many of us assumed it wasn't (for sure I did) was because we assumed an "intimate scene" would be... more than just a soft lean against Cloud... Knowing this is the "intimate version"... kinda sucks...
@@SureenInkWell, it's more than "just a soft lean against Cloud" I think, Cloud is clearly going out of his comfort zone by iniciating "romantic handholding" (I don't know if it's true or not), especially if we take into the context NPTK song "take my hand, and never let me go".
It's a lot more subtle than the other date but, in my humble opinion, it fits better narratively. However, as you probably guessed, I am bias towards it 😅
Nico there was a few things you missed as far as fluff dialog. After the protorelic if you talked to Polk and the others they would talk to yuffie about sonon and what happened when they separated. And if you had explored the saucer you would have seen the party in each squre with some fun dialog. My personal favorite being Vincent I the hotel saying he wants to sleep in the coffin if they stay the night.

Honestly when it comes to the weird timeline stuff I find easier to just sit back and not think about too hard because we don't have all of the answers so thinking about it too hard will just confuse you. Like with Marlene for example, how does she know Sephiroth is coming? I don't know but she does and just leave it at that, makes the story much more enjoyable and digestible in my opinion. Plus we aren't going to get any true answers until part 3 (just like how in the OG you don't get any real answers until that section of the game anyway)
Nico, you didn't get Tifa because you didn't do all her side quests. So if you go to your map and R1 to side quests, it will show you who it was for. If you got a star on each one for that person's quests, you got a good chance of getting that person. As you messed up the kitty one and didn't do the gold cup one after arriving at the saucer the second time (you just went straight to the hotel) and didn't do her collab move enough times, you didn't get Tifa. But fear not, once the game is over you can not only select chapters like last game but also date choices. We highly recommend you watching Tifa's because I lost my shit while watching it and I think you will too! It is basically Sora getting invited to Smash all over again!
Oh and there's two versions for each date scene, an intimate one and casual one.
Also, as you went to the Battle Arena first, you missed out on a fight with Yuffie in the 3D Brawler as well as the Gold Cup side quest (which was important in getting Tifa).
I can't stand the protorelic quest for cosmo canyon. It's so heartbreakingly sweet. Jessie Biggs and Wedge are the first indication, the first hook to get you invested in this world. I think they are a master class of character writing on their own. I can listen to them bicker and laugh and tease and encourage each other all day.
"Shit, we gotta go." and ugh barret, barret is more the heart of the party than any of the girls. Barret always trying to shoulder be the big guy, the cold stone leader, but god get those glasses off and he's the kindest, sweetest man you'll ever meet.
even if you hate every new change the plot goes through, you just cant help be drawn in by these complex and engaging characters.

So to try to help with the confusion of the Zack timeline without spoilers: Remember from the start of the game when Zack and Cloud came back to Midgar they where playing a news report of basically what happened at the end of the first game. From my understanding is that, everything that happened in Zack's Timeline is basically the same thing that happened in the first game, the only difference is the gang did not escape and instead got caught in the aftermath. If you listen to the report they mention that the only person who is missing is someone with a Buster Sword, which the guards who where guarding Aerith when you went to rescue her as Zack pointed out that he had a Buster Sword, thinking that he was the one they are looking for. So it's like that the Timeline split, one where Cloud and the gang escaped Midgar (Clouds side of the game), and the other is the one that Zack is in where they didn't escape Midgar. Even though he has been with Cloud for as long as he had him, since the end of Crisis Core, to present day, everyone else knows Cloud because they all experienced the first game and it seemed like the Cloud that Zack carried to Midgar basically "replaced" the Cloud of that timeline. I hope this doesn't sound like it could be spoilers, I did my best to keep it as simple and to what I believed it was when I got to this point in the game. I hope it will become more easy to understand when you get closer to the end.
Remember Nico Wedge manage to delay his fate at the sector 7 piller because he had the grappling hook that manage to break his fall, because that happened the Whispers tried to make sure he died otherwise he would have deviated from the OG game, when he survived the first fall they tried to kill him when he went to save his cats and when that failed they wanted to make sure he would die at the Shinra building, however after what we saw with Biggs we don't know if he and possibly Jessie could be in different timelines, guess we won't know until part 3.

So, I think your scene with Aerith picking Cloud up was different with mine because I had Aerith for the first date. She mentions that she wants revenge with sky wheel because we were interrupted the first run.
You missed an opportunity to play a game of 3D Brawler against Yuffie to raise her affinity. You have to do it before talking to Dio in the Colosseum before the date.
In terms of shipping both Aerith and Tifa's dates are really good. I love how adorable Yuffie's date is though. It's different, but it might actually be my favorite of the 3. Maybe it's because I don't strongly ship anyone in the game. I enjoy the whole cast and what happens happens.
It's nice to watch you play through this game without going for a specific date in mind. I also did that, and I got the same date.
Btw Nico, Lucia and Matt who are talked about in that flashback with Wedge are the names of the two companions that Glenn has in First Soldier.

If you had picked Barret at the end of the play, the 3rd act would have been 4-star difficulty. It’s actually the easiest way to get the S Rank for the play, too.
You had a chance to do Tifa's last quest at the Gold Saucer right before you slept at the Inn. I don't know if it would have made a difference, but I wish I knew for sure if she had any chance to appear on the date.

The only thing I can say before you watch the other dates (which are gonna be available at the end of the game), is that yes Aerith sings in all of them, but it's different if you get Tifa fir example, because while Aerith sings they hold hands.
Also the dates aren't romantic, but the devs made sure they respresented Cloud's canonical dynamics with the characters.
None of them are canon because of replayability, but all of them are based on the main story's relationships.
People can get Red and still call the dates romantic which is pretty weird, especially when the game calls them "friendship" points at the beginning and Cloud isn't your classic harem protagonist (despite people want to delude themselves so).

Like Nico I love shipping characters but for FF7 I’ve never had a favorite ship for cloud. I like him with Tifa, him with Aerith, and even him with Yuffie. I think they are all valid, but I really hate how some Tifa fans really feel very pushy for any of the date scenes.
@@oreotaku4017 No wait...let's not call people pushy for knowing the story. Tifa is indeed Cloud's love interest and the only one he loves romantically. If anything they're tired of people taking both Cloud and her for granted, for mischaracterizing them and treating FF7 like it's some sort of otome. Which is less reasonable than accepting Tifa as Cloud's love interest (Aerith's being Zack).

What I meant with "the dates aren't romantic" is that they're not inherently romantic just because people call them "dates", as Cloud's voice actor also mentioned. What I dislike is players thinking, as I stated before, that Cloud is a player or someone who has multiple romance choices just because there are affinity points for the Gold Saucer, which are merely for replayability. The dates might be all optional, but they could also be canon if, let's say, they were consecutive.
As a Cloud fan, every date is valid not because of what you stated, but because in each of them Cloud has different interactions based on his canon dynamics with the charaters.
It just happens that only one of them is romantic, because Cloud only has feelings for a woman, as Cloud isn't someone who'd just accept anyone as a love interest like many people think just to satisfy their own desires.
Tifa fans aren't the problem, people who don't play the game and don't know the lore are the problem.
We know what happens in Tifa's date, which doesn't happen in any other date and people still act like Cloud would just do that and then romance Aerith, which doesn't happen.
This game has weird fans who can't accept what they hear and see despite it's blatant, so I my point was to remark how the Gold Saucer dates are only dates in name, not in fact. That Cloud's choice is Tifa in the main story, which doesn't depend on mechanics and it doesn't have anything to do with the Gold Saucer, which as the devs stated since the original, was only a way to get to know the characters better. That's what my comment was about.
It's not about shipping like many think, it's about the story, which people still don't understand after 27 years.

I’ve played FF7OG. I’ve played CC and it’s remake. I’ve played Dirge. I’ve watched AC several times over the years and have both the original release and the complete edition in my movie collection. I know that Tifa is the canon love interest. I know what happens in OG and everything before and after. I know all the really good points about Tifa and her relationship with Cloud. But she is a lot more than just a love interest. The fans of hers that always push for her are the kind I hate seeing because it feels that all they are doing is reducing her to a love interest. But because she is his canon love interest they feel she needs to be in every scene like this. I see it sometimes with Aerith fans too but not nearly as much.
They don’t need to be reduced to just girlfriends. But we don’t need people going damn why didn’t yo get X for the date?! Or people saying that they got the wrong “date”.

I disagree about the Tifa fans statement because in my experience in the fandom for years as a Cloud fan, Tifa fans are the ones who care about the plot and characters enough to not lie about them for their own sake (since most of what they say is what happens in the game and what people can see), so theirs wouldn't be pushiness. Rather frustration towards a fandom who treats them as if they're crazy for paying attention to the story and saying it how it is, instead of lying to create more controversy, or to stir the pot.
I hate shipping wars too, more than anyone, because seeing people butchering FF7 ruins my enjoyment of the game, but unlike many in this fandom, I think the solution isn't to ignore, or to claim Cloud loves "both" equally, but it's to play/watch/read the source material and actually recognize that Cloud loves Tifa romantically since he was a child. We just have to play the game, watch interviews of the developers, or read passages from the Ultimanias.
It's all there and it's all confirmed, people should just play and read, but they don't want to listen to reason. It's like this fandom wears a blindfold everytime these things are mentioned.
Some players can't think of Cloud and Aerith as friends without romanticizing every single interaction between them (mischaracterizing them and then accusing Cloud of being an ahole, for their own assumptions), even when Cloud makes it clear he's not interested, or when he's having an episode.
What I hate the most is players acting like he would switch girls for his own pleasure, self inserting and pushing their own desires onto him. Cloud Strife...the guy who rejects advances and hates when girls are being pushy with him, but kissed Tifa, opened up with her in Gongaga about his fears, called her beautiful in Remake, is always kind to her, joined Soldier to impress her, was intimate with her under the Highwind etc.
Nojima just wrote a short novel from Cloud's pov called "2000 gil for a hero" and in it there's a line which says he promised to become a special existence for Tifa. Claiming for the upteenth time both Cloud's and Nojima's position.
My philosophy is to let everyone ship whatever they want, have all the headcanons they want, but when it comes to the game, there's a linear plot which doesn't include multiple romances and that's fine, because FF7 was never meant to be interpreted and it was never really controversial. If anything, the fandom claiming their own interpretations, is the reason why they'll never understand it.
As an example of someone who uses their brain, I recommend you to watch a streamer called Whimsy Psyche, who played Remake/Rebirth, she's an extremely perceptive newbie who immediately understood the story with no bias in her theories and who would put some OG fans to shame.
The shipping wars will continue because of people who second all this "both girls" madness and who unfortunately get more engagement than people who actually know the lore.
I've been here for a long time and I've seen a lot of obsession over Aerith ending up with Cloud, despite she has different motivations, feelings that stem from her relationship with Zack and she finally dies, reuniting with him in the Lifestream. Let alone how people ignore Cloud's feelings and words for their headcanons' sake.
Yesterday I've seen a post from a person who never played the original game, disregarding Cloud's mental illness and Sephiroth's control over him, while using the scene with Tifa at the reactor in Gongaga (in Rebirth) to justify their claim that Cloud doesn't love her, comparing it with the ending in which Cloud is smiling at Aerith through allucinations and madness.
It's so strange what people would say on social media, over a game they don't really care about.
I always try to be ironic, saying how those people are possessed by Jenova too, so that would explain their delusions, but the problem is these people are real and it's disturbing.
I've seen a streamer during the ending of Rebirth, complaining Cloud didn't kiss Aerith and not only ignoring how she just said "at least I know where we stand" (and how Cloud in the Japanese version calls her a "comrade/friend" (nakama) just before her statement), but it's depressing how he then said: "Tifa got her kiss, why didn't Aerith? This was the perfect moment for a kiss, she deserved it, she has suffered so much during her whole life".
It's like some CxA fans can't see beyond their vision and want Cloud to look like a two timer for no reason other than pity, which is messed up.
I have a few questions always popping up in my mind. Why a kiss? Why with Cloud? Why not with Zack who truly loves her? Why do they think Tifa got it and Aerith didn't? Can't they put two and two together?
It's ironic for the fandom to blame who follows logic, since CloudxTifa and ZackxAerith "shippers" seem to be the only reasonable individuals in here.

It is very interesting what events happened here: First finding out what has happened with Wedge in a flashback, then these things that happened in the other timeline with Zack and Marlene and the Date in Golden Saucer. ^^
It is sad that Wedge seems to be dead (according to his comrades from Avalanche HQ) and I really hoped that he could be alive, too (like Biggs), but it seems not... he was such a nice guy and does not deserve this (hopefully his cats are at least fine). The whispers can be so cruel sometimes, because they caused him to fall to his death (to correct the timeline from the original game/story).
It´s very mysterious what Marlene told Zack about Aerith and Cloud. It is like she knows/foreshadowing the original story or what happens in the normal timeline from FF7. Now that she told Zack about it and who will kill Aerith nd Cloud could save her, I wonder what Zack will do about it.
The famous/popular date with Cloud was so great and well done and also the extended event scenes of the event/theater play and the ferris wheel/skywheel was amazing.
By the way, Aerith still sings in the theater regardless who Cloud go on a date with. Also there are 6 dates/persons that Cloud can go out with: "Tifa", "Aerith", "Yuffie", "Barret", "Red XIII" and the other 3 remaining guys together "Cait Sith, Cid and Vincent". All 5 main dates/persons (except the "date" with the 3 guys) have a normal and a intimate/deeper ending of the date in the skywheel/ferris wheel. There are more intimate/deeper moments for the girls, but it seems that Cloud and Tifa is the canon one, because Cloud has more romantic moments with her in his date (she is his childhood love after all), while it is more deeper friendship/platonic relationship with Yuffie and Aerith in his date (without spoiling so much in case you wanted to see/react to it yourself later).
Anyway, I really enjoying this great game and all the new and extended event scenes, too and also all the mysteries around it and what differences there are to the original game, so I am curious how this will continue and what fate will wait for Cloud and his group in the end. ^_^

I love how interesting and complicated this is getting tbh lol The whole Marlene thing, I suspect it's to do with OG memories of characters becoming jumbled into Zacks timeline from the original or at least Clouds timeline. As we've seen, certain characters are obviously remembering things that either didn't happen for their version or at least if they exist in Zacks timeline. And like Biggs - for a lack of a better word - his soul transferred over from Clouds tineline over to Zacks, or he himself teleported because of the whispers.

So for me I end up getting Tifa and she is the one I always got in the og game, for me it felt special to see the date seen as Tifa was the character I grew attached to the most especially after this game, I would recommend seeing the other date scene they are good and give more lore and character.

Gilgamesh has certainly had his comedic moments, even when being a genuine threat as a boss fight. Final Fantasy XII had Gilgamesh appear as a secret boss, voiced by John DiMaggio. That's what I refer to as "modern" Gilgamesh. In the second Dissidia game, Gilgamesh was voiced by Keith Szarabajka (AKA Joshua Graham). That's what I refer to as "classic" Gilgamesh. In essence, this version of Final Fantasy VII is the LATEST game in Final Fantasy's lineup to have "classic" Gilgamesh, so far.
Also, I like Joshua Graham, so this version of Gilgamesh is very beloved.

So for the date there are actually two variations to it: Regular and Intimate. Your date partner will be whomever in the game you have the highest affinity with at the time of reaching the GS in chapter 12. However, to get the INTIMATE date with said character, their affinity with Cloud has to be at least 80%. The regular date cutscene will basically end at the fireworks on the Skywheel, if you got the intimate date however, the cut scene will continue with more in depth stuff.
After you beat the game you’ll get a menu option that allows you to manually choose who your date will be with as well as if you want the regular date or intimate one, I highly recommend replaying chapter 12 multiple times to see all of them as they drop info from previous FF7 games as well as hints at possible future stuff.

I've always been a huge shipper of Cloud/Tifa. I ended up on the date with Tifa for Rebirth, and it was all my fangirl dreams could've hoped for. But I'll say that the remake has given me new appreciation for Aerith! I never was a huge fan of her in the original, and I feel like the remake made her a more relatable character. While I still love Tifa more for Cloud, I was super curious to see the date with Aerith, and it did NOT disappoint! Loving the series, Nico!
In Loveless, the part of Rosa is played by which of the girls has your highest relationship, so she can be Aerith, Tifa or Yuffie.
