The problem with CdBaby when I see my releases on Spotify it’s never under my label name always under my real name. Anyway on how to fix this for future releases
Hi, great video!. My current cdbaby single release is being held up (Submit button grayed out). It's asking for youtube music ID's for all the musicians. @Jacey Flames I was wondering if you could help me. I am about to release a Rap Drill track and was wondering if it was worth releasing the instrumental as well. The instrumental and the vocal track sounds very good. Do you also release an instrumental with your vocal track? Thank you
@@JaceyFlames To clarify, I got a Rapper to rap my lyrics over my beat and the track turned out good. I was therefore wondering if the best thing to do, would be to put both the vocal track and instrumental on CD Baby... As a Rapper yourself do you upload both the vocal track and instrumental? The aim is to be a producer who puts together tracks and features different artists.
Yes, it would be beneficial for you to do that. For me however, that’s not my goal because I am an artist first and then a producer. But for you, if you are trying to be known more as a producer then it would help you.
It would just be on the uploading page, when you are uploading your song on CDBaby where you can add a feature for your song. For co-releases, you would tag your page, as well as the other artist who is on there. As far as remixes, you would state on your release that it is a remix.
@@JaceyFlames the problem I'm finding is do I need to include (Artist B Remix) in the song title. I've been looking at various platforms and posting remixes is really tough because the directions aren't clear. I have lots of other friends who have had issues. Trying to avoid that with CDbaby as it seems easier but not sure if I need to list the remixer in the title even though they say don't list artist names in the song title.
It’s because it’s a liability to these distributors if any artist/producer posts a remix because of the legalities behind it. They don’t want to be held responsible for it, if the original song’s artist/writer/producer decides to sue because your streams are making money from it. That is why (normally) you need contracts or written consent to do so.

Or will they create accounts for me which I can then link after my first release since I do notice how it says they would create a new account or something like that… just wondering how that works
No, CDBaby will create those profiles for you once you upload your song(s) on their site and once it releases then you claim your profiles on Spotify, Apple Music, etc.
Hey man, I have a question for you : if I choose to activate the sync licensing for UA-cam, Instagram, etc, does it mean that small youtubers or influencers will need my approval and have to pay me before using my track into their content ? Or, if some people want to play my track in a DJ set uploaded on youtube, or publish a preview of my EP on insta, they will get copyright issues ? It's important for me to be sure that this sync licensing stuff will not make the virality of my music lower. I prefer to let people use it for free on social medias and win money on streaming royalties. Thanks !
It just means that when ppl use your music that you will get compensated for it. Since you are going through CDBaby for their sync licensing program, just keep in my that you will keep 60% with placements that they keep for you.
Hi CDbaby recommends WAV, AIFF, FLAC . The less recommended is mp3
