I was bummed when CCs kept saying he HAS to have a strict rotation and team to do decent dmg and I've found that even when I button mash with him, he can destroy even groups of enemies faster than my better built jiyan - I don't even have Calcharo's optimal team and his echoes are sub par. HOWEVER my characters are only lvl 70 so I haven't been able to clear the hardest levels of adversity so in all fairness maybe once I get there I"ll notice the difference haha

I feel like the main reason people saying Calcharo is a bad character is because either they overestimated the damage potential before the game even got officially released, or Calcharo isn't a "turn off the brain and spam clicks" kind of characters. People expected too much from all those leak videos of Calcharo during beta tests and since Kuro reduced the damage numbers a little bit, they didn't like it. I'm not saying Calcharo is the best char in the game right now (as of 1.2) but he definitely isn't trash. Almost every DPS character has their own downside just like Calcharo (like not being able to build stacks on counter atk or no interuption resistance to turn off the brain). If you take Danjin for example, she's a good DPS character, but if she'd played by a beginner, they're going to have a hard time keeping Danjin alive. Now that 1.3 char Xiangli Yao getting released with interruption resistance added to his kit (if the leaks are true), more people are going to sleep on this fun character. Some people in this world have too much unrealistic expectations... Calcharo was my first every character in this game I got (intentionally from selector ticket) and he'll be my favourite character until the end and he's going to be my first S6 character if Kuro ever decides to bring a feature where we can get a specific standard banner character like Chronicles wish banner in Genshin. Plus, aethetics had a role too, I like male characters with long white hairs *looks at Cyno*

Good tips. I love Calcharo. He’s my heavy hitter even with still just random echoes and half levelled skills. But he’s getting there. And hopefully my skills to utilise his abilities as well 😅 I’m usually a PlayStation gamer but for early WuWa start has to brave the horrors of mobile. Heh, not as bad as I thought but I really do miss my controller. So the more fancier moves probably have to wait until it releases on PS5.

I like Calcharo for almost everything. his playstyle, his advance mechanic, and his persona. One of the hardest to masterd with (in terms of peak gameplay) but when you do, The Leader of Ghost Hounds is the Best (HYPERCARRY ELECTRO) DPS in the game!!
This helps a lot. Obviously everyone is gushing over Jinhsi right now and I'm on the same boat. And as people have heavily confirmed (see Maygi's video if you don't know) that YInlin is definitively one of her best teammates. So now my Calcharo is maidenless. After seeing this video (will watch the other solo vids later) I have a reason to practice playing Calcharo more.

Also 1 thing that i really like from calcharo is how fast his Dodge Counter attack but also has long (because dodge counter attack has , duration depend on char) It's so easy to insert dodge counter between 2 dodge from 2 fast enemy attack, while other player with other char prefer to do 2 time dodge without counter

Actually I like playing Calcha + Yinlin, both have long animations but playing with swap cancel and swap back immediately during long animation is actually fun watching them doing tag team.
I got both Jiyan and Jinhsi both are absolutely fun to play but they have such different play styles. Jiyan is like a vacuum and feels so powerful but completely brain dead in terms of strategies and Jinhsi has so much burst damage but she is super susceptible to hits because she has to float in the air to do her combo so you have to be more cautious. I got 1 more pull on my guaranteed and was gonna choose Jianxin for my Rover team but you convinced me to play Calcharo. He's still the coolest and flashiest character to me, didn't wanna pull him because my buddy has him but we never even play co op lol. Thanks man
i picked calcharo as my first 5* and i felt this combo was very intuitive to learn without ever reading a guide (i didnt ever watch a guide on him and i learned this exact combo from just playing and being good i guess lol). albeit i didnt initially think to dash cancel his 2nd skills somewhat long animation (i figured to do it by myself after a bit of playing). idk why people find him difficult when his combo is pretty similar to genshins diluc (a standard 5*)

My standard GOAT... He's one of my main.. along with Jihnsi, Jiyan, and my beast dps Yinlin, all of them has their own 5 star weapon and almost perfect echo build 5 crt rate crt dmg...
The main reason people say that he feels "clunky" isn't his out-of-burst combo (which is optional in most cases), but rather the fact that the window to complete three death messengers is razor-thin. He loses around 30% of his burst rotation damage if he misses it (according to prydwen), and the fact it punishes you for dodge-countering doesn't help matters. He's also incredibly vulnerable to damage / getting staggered while he's in the air, which means that against aggressive enemies you are forced to either swap cancel his death messengers (and giving up on outro buffs like Yinlin and Jianxin's) or find a way to face-tank the damage, something not available at this point in the game.
I was expecting advices more on Calcharo's liberation mode. It seems very vital to hit all three death messenger for Calcharo yet the timing is so tight a dodge or two too often will make proccing the death messenger seems impossible. What could you do to counteract that?
Good point! So this a tip that has been shared already so I avoided sharing it again but the fastest way to get to a DM is by doing Basic - Basic - Basic - E - Basic, this way you get the DM a lot quicker ! Hope this helps
Loved him and even chose him in 5 star selector gacha But then jinhshi came I rolled for her lost 50/50 to calcharo and don't know how to build him for future till another character gets released and I hit 11k for guranteed
I think on R1 the difference is very, very small, last I heard lustrous razor is only 2% better, but on R5 lustrous razor has a huge advantage. You could try Sanhua as a sub-dps, she doesn't have coordinated attacks but she buffs basic attack damage which Calcharo still uses pretty often
@@own_goals_alti Very, very likely all the limited characters will have reruns, so yes! Since the gacha system is so similar to Hoyo games, we can assume she'll have a rerun in a few months, probably when they slow down with the new characters. In the meanwhile, you can also try Jianxin as a sub-dps for Calcharo, since she buffs liberation damage on outro, also she'll keep your Calcharo safer with her shield. Her downside to Sanhua tho is that she has lower concerto efficiency.

@@bravo1554 so technically, the way I play Calcharo, jinhsi’s weapon is better. That being said, the standard broad blade is technically better if you are playing the game like a normal human with a 3 person team and are mostly using Calcharo to burst during a damage window with resonance skill into liberation
Jihnsis weapon is really good for him, the main stats are needed but the passive isn't half bad, I'm finally going to raise him to lvl 80 and play him more in tower.
@@KingShado69 it is! I just wasn’t lucky enough to get it yet sadly. I think lustrous razer ultimately wins on him still, but I use E a lot more than most people so I am very curious about jinhsi’s weapon for sure !!
I hate the fact, that if you play with him with more than 140 ms, sometimes when you use his liberation skill, the last bar of the forte will be missed in the combo, and this will affect your overall dps because at the end you will be using 1 charged attack instead of 2. Still there are some workarounds to mitigate it, like dashing or using skill between his attacks, but still i hate it so much because it don't work sometimes.
Big Question! first of all, thank you very much for this juicy showcase! If u got full bar, do u not need to heavy before doing Ultimate? to get more dmg? in ur rotation the last step is a Heavy, thats why im asking, but u didnt shown a heavy at the crownless fight at the end before liberation/ultimate.
Hey! Thanks so much for watching. Good question! So the void thunder set bonus provides the buff for either a heavy or resonance skill for 15 seconds and it stacks twice. Meaning since I’ve already stacked it with my E there is no real utility in casting my heavy attack. If I had a larger damage window I would still do it though! The issue here is that if I cast heavy, crownless will fall to the ground and then I’ll miss my ult because the juggle sequence would end. So because I’ve got the 2 stacks already and ult’s initial burst does great damage, plus DM is nuts, I chose to skip the heavy there. Again, this is why Calcharo is awesome!! The theoretical rotations don’t matter much, it’s all about situational application !
@@Nimmersang not exactly, the echo is Heavy attack OR resonance skills, lustrous razer is resonance skill (3 stacks) So really what you want to cast is resonance skill, because you get 2 stacks of dmg bonus from Thunder Mephis for 15 seconds (it’s resonance skill OR heavy for the echo 5 piece set buff) and then you get 7% * 3 from lustrous razer if you cast all 3 resonance skills. This lasts 12 seconds. So the heavy is not actually necessary ! Specially when playing solo Calcharo. In a team situation it’s a bit different, because you can swap cancel is Mercy and then come back to him, so it may be safer and worth it in a team comp scenario! With Yinlin for example ! All situational of course! Thank you for commenting by the way, it’s a really valid question 🙏
@@Nimmersang hey just following up sorry I misunderstood : yes you do miss the 10% from his passive skill (sorry didn’t understand what you meant by trace at first) So yes, in this case you miss it because the damage window is too short to do both the heavy and the ult, that said normally you are correct! I pulled for Jiyan but then also pulled for Yinlin and as I got better at fights I’ve used Calcharo and Yinlin more. I’ve noticed that on harder fights, as I get better I don’t even swap into my healer anymore. I just stick between Yinlin and Cal. This has me wanting to use Yuanwu for more off field damage and faster vibration reduction. Any thoughts? I already farmed for 2 void thunder sets and I’m hesitant to go for a 3rd when I don’t see much of Yuanwu
Yuanwu is excellent right now because of his synergy with Jinhsi! If you pull Jinhsi, yuanwu is a no brainer! That being said , I’d rather rejuvenating on him with originite type IV blue gauntlets (to trigger the healing bonus) Honestly very underrated !
@@horg7203 I leveled him up and leveled another void thunder set for him to use in an all electro team. PSA: Don’t do it. I clear tactical fights faster with Verina. Disappointed he isn’t as useful. Will be using his echos as exp.

My main DPS for life ❤😂 Srsly tho, Calcharo’s play style is just so explosive with little down time in taking hits. Jinsi is awesome too but her normal attack just leaves her vulnerable.
one of the main issue is calcharo's playstyle is the complete opposite to the game's fighting mechanism... his attack animation are slow, although you can cancel his 3rd attack using skill, but you cant do that on 4th coz its the main damage, so we're basically vulnerable for 1 sec which is long for endgame modes...not much of an issue for bosses but for multiple enemies, too risky and then there's his liberation state, dodge/skill whatever, use it once and you'll messed up your combo and reduced your total damage, game is about dodge and parry but if we lose our major damage for performing that, its not good...he needs his own zhongli, jianxin is not enough, or maybe adjustments, lower his damage a bit but give him immunity during this stage or something
@@ABCDE7 yeah his kit definitely has issues, but he’s still a very fun character ! In any case, I do hope the devs take in the feedback and give him a bit of a rework
@@neverhonors2688 Yeah it’s tricky, I HATE when that happens. I would suggest not mashing left click in ULT unless you have a clear dmg window aka the enemy is broken or already being juggled/staggered in mid air as an example. If the dmg window is super constrained then you can also do BA three times into E (do this when Calcharo disappears up into the air while in ult) into BA two times into Death Messenger, that’s a common trick to accelerate the DM coming out, but again it’s all situational. That’s the beauty of Calcharo, you have to actually play the game based on the reality in front of you, instead of ignoring what’s on screen and just mashing intro/outro, left click, Verina heal *insert ignore entire game S6 Jinhsi Nuke*. I love this character because you need to improvise, you can’t just memorize a rotation. That’s the fun of it all!

This helps a lot. Obviously everyone is gushing over Jinhsi right now and I'm on the same boat. And as people have heavily confirmed (see Maygi's video if you don't know) that YInlin is definitively one of her best teammates. So now my Calcharo is maidenless. After seeing this video (will watch the other solo vids later) I have a reason to practice playing Calcharo more.

Also 1 thing that i really like from calcharo is how fast his Dodge Counter attack but also has long (because dodge counter attack has , duration depend on char)
It's so easy to insert dodge counter between 2 dodge from 2 fast enemy attack, while other player with other char prefer to do 2 time dodge without counter

Actually I like playing Calcha + Yinlin, both have long animations but playing with swap cancel and swap back immediately during long animation is actually fun watching them doing tag team.

I got both Jiyan and Jinhsi both are absolutely fun to play but they have such different play styles. Jiyan is like a vacuum and feels so powerful but completely brain dead in terms of strategies and Jinhsi has so much burst damage but she is super susceptible to hits because she has to float in the air to do her combo so you have to be more cautious. I got 1 more pull on my guaranteed and was gonna choose Jianxin for my Rover team but you convinced me to play Calcharo. He's still the coolest and flashiest character to me, didn't wanna pull him because my buddy has him but we never even play co op lol. Thanks man

i picked calcharo as my first 5* and i felt this combo was very intuitive to learn without ever reading a guide (i didnt ever watch a guide on him and i learned this exact combo from just playing and being good i guess lol). albeit i didnt initially think to dash cancel his 2nd skills somewhat long animation (i figured to do it by myself after a bit of playing). idk why people find him difficult when his combo is pretty similar to genshins diluc (a standard 5*)

My standard GOAT... He's one of my main.. along with Jihnsi, Jiyan, and my beast dps Yinlin, all of them has their own 5 star weapon and almost perfect echo build 5 crt rate crt dmg...
Bro I got all the echos i need but i still struggle with the xp itself like why are they so stingy about echo xp??
The main reason people say that he feels "clunky" isn't his out-of-burst combo (which is optional in most cases), but rather the fact that the window to complete three death messengers is razor-thin. He loses around 30% of his burst rotation damage if he misses it (according to prydwen), and the fact it punishes you for dodge-countering doesn't help matters.
He's also incredibly vulnerable to damage / getting staggered while he's in the air, which means that against aggressive enemies you are forced to either swap cancel his death messengers (and giving up on outro buffs like Yinlin and Jianxin's) or find a way to face-tank the damage, something not available at this point in the game.

I was expecting advices more on Calcharo's liberation mode. It seems very vital to hit all three death messenger for Calcharo yet the timing is so tight a dodge or two too often will make proccing the death messenger seems impossible. What could you do to counteract that?
Good point! So this a tip that has been shared already so I avoided sharing it again but the fastest way to get to a DM is by doing Basic - Basic - Basic - E - Basic, this way you get the DM a lot quicker ! Hope this helps

I think on R1 the difference is very, very small, last I heard lustrous razor is only 2% better, but on R5 lustrous razor has a huge advantage. You could try Sanhua as a sub-dps, she doesn't have coordinated attacks but she buffs basic attack damage which Calcharo still uses pretty often

Since the gacha system is so similar to Hoyo games, we can assume she'll have a rerun in a few months, probably when they slow down with the new characters. In the meanwhile, you can also try Jianxin as a sub-dps for Calcharo, since she buffs liberation damage on outro, also she'll keep your Calcharo safer with her shield. Her downside to Sanhua tho is that she has lower concerto efficiency.

@@bravo1554 so technically, the way I play Calcharo, jinhsi’s weapon is better. That being said, the standard broad blade is technically better if you are playing the game like a normal human with a 3 person team and are mostly using Calcharo to burst during a damage window with resonance skill into liberation

Jihnsis weapon is really good for him, the main stats are needed but the passive isn't half bad, I'm finally going to raise him to lvl 80 and play him more in tower.

I hate the fact, that if you play with him with more than 140 ms, sometimes when you use his liberation skill, the last bar of the forte will be missed in the combo, and this will affect your overall dps because at the end you will be using 1 charged attack instead of 2.
Still there are some workarounds to mitigate it, like dashing or using skill between his attacks, but still i hate it so much because it don't work sometimes.

Good question! So the void thunder set bonus provides the buff for either a heavy or resonance skill for 15 seconds and it stacks twice. Meaning since I’ve already stacked it with my E there is no real utility in casting my heavy attack.
If I had a larger damage window I would still do it though! The issue here is that if I cast heavy, crownless will fall to the ground and then I’ll miss my ult because the juggle sequence would end.
So because I’ve got the 2 stacks already and ult’s initial burst does great damage, plus DM is nuts, I chose to skip the heavy there.
Again, this is why Calcharo is awesome!! The theoretical rotations don’t matter much, it’s all about situational application !

@@Nimmersang not exactly, the echo is Heavy attack OR resonance skills, lustrous razer is resonance skill (3 stacks)
So really what you want to cast is resonance skill, because you get 2 stacks of dmg bonus from Thunder Mephis for 15 seconds (it’s resonance skill OR heavy for the echo 5 piece set buff) and then you get 7% * 3 from lustrous razer if you cast all 3 resonance skills. This lasts 12 seconds.
So the heavy is not actually necessary ! Specially when playing solo Calcharo.
In a team situation it’s a bit different, because you can swap cancel is Mercy and then come back to him, so it may be safer and worth it in a team comp scenario! With Yinlin for example !

So yes, in this case you miss it because the damage window is too short to do both the heavy and the ult, that said normally you are correct! You should do heavy before ult!

calcharo is the only reason i play the game, hoping a new male character that exactly combat gameplay like virgil from devil may cry,
I pulled for Jiyan but then also pulled for Yinlin and as I got better at fights I’ve used Calcharo and Yinlin more. I’ve noticed that on harder fights, as I get better I don’t even swap into my healer anymore. I just stick between Yinlin and Cal. This has me wanting to use Yuanwu for more off field damage and faster vibration reduction.
Any thoughts? I already farmed for 2 void thunder sets and I’m hesitant to go for a 3rd when I don’t see much of Yuanwu
Yuanwu is excellent right now because of his synergy with Jinhsi! If you pull Jinhsi, yuanwu is a no brainer!
That being said , I’d rather rejuvenating on him with originite type IV blue gauntlets (to trigger the healing bonus)

@@horg7203 I leveled him up and leveled another void thunder set for him to use in an all electro team. PSA: Don’t do it. I clear tactical fights faster with Verina. Disappointed he isn’t as useful. Will be using his echos as exp.

My main DPS for life ❤😂 Srsly tho, Calcharo’s play style is just so explosive with little down time in taking hits. Jinsi is awesome too but her normal attack just leaves her vulnerable.
one of the main issue is calcharo's playstyle is the complete opposite to the game's fighting mechanism...
his attack animation are slow, although you can cancel his 3rd attack using skill, but you cant do that on 4th coz its the main damage, so we're basically vulnerable for 1 sec which is long for endgame modes...not much of an issue for bosses but for multiple enemies, too risky
and then there's his liberation state, dodge/skill whatever, use it once and you'll messed up your combo and reduced your total damage, game is about dodge and parry but if we lose our major damage for performing that, its not good...he needs his own zhongli, jianxin is not enough, or maybe adjustments, lower his damage a bit but give him immunity during this stage or something

@@neverhonors2688 Yeah it’s tricky, I HATE when that happens. I would suggest not mashing left click in ULT unless you have a clear dmg window aka the enemy is broken or already being juggled/staggered in mid air as an example.
If the dmg window is super constrained then you can also do BA three times into E (do this when Calcharo disappears up into the air while in ult) into BA two times into Death Messenger, that’s a common trick to accelerate the DM coming out, but again it’s all situational.
That’s the beauty of Calcharo, you have to actually play the game based on the reality in front of you, instead of ignoring what’s on screen and just mashing intro/outro, left click, Verina heal *insert ignore entire game S6 Jinhsi Nuke*.
I love this character because you need to improvise, you can’t just memorize a rotation. That’s the fun of it all!
