Absolutely love your content, man the way you run through things and show how to make the RC better it's perfect. So glad Britt turned me on your channel.
Thanks man, I appreciate you taking the time to let you know you love the content! It is pretty time consuming and it is nice to hear it helps others/it is enjoyable! I think we probably have the most 2997a content and have fun making videos of the trucks!
Thank you!I look forward to seeing what you do and if you can improve upon things! I am thinking about what you are for the speed difference. It will be interesting to see.
The Urgenex 3s “2200” mAh I ran was 72mm long and there was no room to spare. If the Gens Ace Bashing 2200 3s is really 76 mm long it shouldn’t fit. 🤷♂️The width and height are listed as the same dimensions as my Urgenex I ran. But you got it in your 2997a? Man… I would have loved to try it as Gens ace is a partner of my channel… But I really didn’t think it would fit based on the listed dimensions! Oh well.... great info for those looking for one that will fit in the stock LIPO tray. I looked everywhere for different options.😂. But, the Urgenex isn’t really 2,200 mAh…. I suspect the Bashing has an embellished capacity too as it is only 142 g so it would likely not perform very well and that is the whole reason I wanted to be able to fit a bigger LIPO. 😞 A strong performing 3s 2200 mah should weigh closer to 180-200g (my LiperiAir is 194g). I need a strong performer for the brushless setup I am getting ready to run. Have you GPSed your car? I’m curious what kind of speed you are getting. Now that I can fit a larger battery, I might look for something around 2500 or 2800… But it has to be a good one or it will not be any faster than my 2200 LiperiAir.
@@BriansRCStuff yes, thank you! New to RC and this is my first car, looking into some upgrades. For different tires (maybe paddle tires) where can I find them?
I was looking to put a high performance 3s LIPO and in there…. Otherwise I probably wouldn’t have bothered. But yes, I think you could with a longer LIPO strap.👍
Sorry for all the questions. Do you think the run time is more with the longer battery after modifying the tray than the shorter 2200mah you first had? I’m debating on modifying mine and getting the longer traditional size battery vs the 2200 short one. But I’m mainly looking for run time. Not too worried about getting that extra mph
@@Fishing_Obsession87 Yes, it has to be. The short 2,200 mAh isn't really 2,200 mAh. It is more like 1,850 or 1,900 mAh. Also, it has more voltage sag so it will hit LVC off sooner than the bigger and heavier 2,200 mAh. Is it worth it? It is debatable. If you are running it stock it is kind of worth it.... but you may be happy with the smaller LIPO in there. I am going to run a much hotter motor in mine and the little 3s LIPO would not have been happy and the performance difference between the 2 LIPOs would widen with the extra load of the spicy combo I am putting in there. If it was me, IDK if I would bother for the extra run time as it may only be a few minutes (I would think no more than 5). You might be better off just tossing another LIPO in there and running it some more. Sorry I didn't give you an "answer" but those are at least my 2 cents. : )
@@BriansRCStuff thank you sir. I found a 3000mah that has the same dimensions as the one you used in the video. May try that. If it’s a true 3000mah it should add 10 mins atleast id think.

Great tutorial Brian
Thank you.
To quote tim the tool man taylor “more power” 😂
😂
Pretty much what my plans are for mine. Well done Brian!
I’m betting a difference of 5-6 mph more than the urginex.

They have battery plates with straps u can glue or double side tape
Thanks for the info. I will have to look into that!
Nice mods Brian
Thanks!
Maybe try the bashing 3s11.1 2200mh runs very well no mods fits diagonal with an extra strap 😂

nice video! Do you know where we can buy some spare tires for this HBX2997a?
You are looking for the stock tires? If you have the part number for the manual, you can try looking here: haiboxing-hobby.com/search?q

Can't you just stack the smaller 1600 Mah batteries on top of each other and run them with a parallel adapter?....that would give you 3200mah

How’s this holding up?
Other than the rear of the body, so far so good.
