Planes struggle to land at Bristol Airport as Storm Callum brings wind

Thousands of homes are without power across Northern Ireland, the north of England, Wales and the Republic of Ireland as Storm Callum causes chaos. An easyJet plane had a bump landing at Manchester airport while south Wales battled with 6.3in (160mm) of rain and 76mph winds hit the Isles of Scilly. The UK's third named storm of the year has brought an amber 'danger to life' warning from the Met Office, with growing concern over flooding causing carnage to homes and businesses. Yellow warnings are also in place throughout the weekend for high winds and rain. Dozens of flights have been cancelled out of Belfast, Dublin, Cardiff and Newquay airports, with train services in Wales, Devon (train pictured being battered by waves in Dawlish bottom right) and Cornwall (car pictured in Penzance bottom left) also affected. Ferry services between Wales and Northern Ireland are currently suspended too. People across the UK took to social media to complain of a sleepless night as gales battered their homes leaving their back gardens and routes to work a mess, while the wind blew fiercely in Windsor for Princess Eugenie's wedding to Jack Brooksbank at St George's Chapel.

I was probably meant to be on one of these. Flight cancelled due to the plane being unable to land. We spent 5 hours in the airport and never made it to Amsterdam 😩

exactly for this reason i havent flown on a plane since 2002 when i was 18, planes are no match to mother nature
