- This Terraria weapon gains power the more you eat... The Ham Bat. Terraria 1.4.3 the Don't Starve Together crossover update introduced a handful of unique items to the game. Included in this were some pretty random true melee weapons such as todays pick, the Ham Bat. This weapon not only has a fun unique functionally, but is obtained from one of the games most elusive enemies- the Pigron. The question is, is it worth the grind? Enjoy!

I did it's super effective in early invasions but to be honest using the tongue blade is much better
Ham Bat is one of the best weapons in Don't Starve. It has a shelf life rather than durability, so you can use it as much as you like before it spoils.
Dark sword still better tho
@@Vici0uSquirrelam bat is way easier to get early and Dark swords are a pain to farm to beat early bosses like the guardian or bearger.
@@Vici0uSquirrel true. cheaper too if your character is voracious and you're solo without some sort of meat farm
@@milothan-poirier570 tbh both are pretty easy to get and the dark sword can be used for more than 3 days since after that the hambat will have damage lower than the tentacle spike and anyway you need only a couple dark swords for the bosses who dont heal or have a defence buff since they deal 6800 per dark sword if you dont have any damage buffs.
@@Vici0uSquirrel If you're talking pure damage, yes, the Dark Sword beats the Ham Bat. However, the Ham bat undoubtedly beats the Dark Sword in availability and durability, making it the better weapon overall.
An edit: Even overall damage is better than the Dark Sword, seeing as Ham Bat has infinite durability.

The damage increases should instead be percentages and calculated *after* all your other buffs so they are actually more substantial. Also, maybe the buffs increase size, swing speed and crit strike chance.
The damage buffs might be flat before buffs, which would function pretty much the same
if the increase is flat then that would be a nerf since, for example
100 + 50 + 100% is 300
meanwhile
100 + 100% + 50 is 250

please do the brand of the inferno, its a pre plantera hidden gem and it can be used to straight up evade some lethal hits and provide a huge damage bonus, despite being extremely niche

This weapon is very powerful when playing true melee in vanilla i would like if you made a whole video about the true melee sup class its a lot of fun
The Ham Bat is kind of odd in Terraria... As in Don't Starve Together its basically a must have, easy to craft weapon that loses damage over time but has infinite durability... While in Terraria its a mediocre, rare novelty weapon that doesnt do damage when even fully buffed

Could be more interesting if base damage depended on the percentage of food items you've consumed during the playthrough.
during playthrough would be nuts, i think it'd work better if it required you to eat every X seconds for it to keep it's damage buff
and of course for said damage buff to have a substantial increase from what it is now, as currently it just puts it on par with other easier to obtain options
I know it isn’t exactly in the “don’t starve” game but imagine if you could combine all of the don’t starve melee weapons (tentacle spike, bat bat) together into some mangled club with all of their effects. Having the bat bat’s life drain, the tentacle spike’s projectiles and the ham bat’s food and healing buffs. Honestly would be a pre-mech weapon I’d consider using.

Hambat in DST: One of the best weapons in the game right behind Dark Sword, can be crafted pretty early in a playthrough.

Arguably better than the Dark Sword, since it lasts way longer in combat and is extremely easy to get.

I'm usually one of those people who watch sockrteez's vids and just go "eeh.. already knew that" but this, definitely never knew the ham bat's damage scaled with food buffs.
I do remember actually using this in the destroyer fight mostly just to use it as a healing weapon against his probes
Funny how in don’t starve together the Hambat deals 59 damage too.
Not always, the damage scales with how fresh the hambat is. This is why crafting one hambat right before a boss is incredibly useful, as you have high damage outputs with infinite durability instead of having to craft many dark swords because of how high health DST bosses have.
The best part is how literally every weapon gains damage if you eat
Yeah, I came down here to say this, & I'm surprised you don't have more Likes. This weapon's food-based gains seem on par with all the other weapons' food boosts already, so I wouldn't even say that's a feature. 🤷♀️
I think maybe the hambats food boosts only apply in the constant seed , at least thats what would make the most sense
For finding pigron just get a statue because statue monsters can drop items
Also it be easy as heck just get hard mode and activate the statue
note that statue spawned enemies have a significantly lower drop rate, for example with unicorns is 5% of the usual, so a blessed apple goes from 1/40 to 1/800, that being said with rare enemies you can kill possibly thousands of statue spawned ones in the time it would take to find a single naturally spawned one, so it ends up being more likely with statues

The most easy to obtain and one of the most powerful weapons in don't starve is worst(and hard to obtain)true melee in terraria, same as doom slayer's sword in Fortnite
Pigrons can be spawned by fishing in the overrun ice biome in the cavern layer. It’s not super consistent but I’ve had better luck with this method
it'd probably be super good if true melee wasnt super not, especially considering the performance of the life drain

I got this thing dropped like 3 times during my melee playthrough lol, wasn’t grinding for it and I ended up not using it. Oh and the Bat bat dropped like 10 times randomly. Also got like 15 compasses before a single depth meter but that’s neither here nor there

Please do the Toxicarp next! Its often overlooked as an early hardmode weapon because of the crystal serpent, but is actually pretty good overall :)

I got this so many times trying to get the spirit lamp (because I made a desert underground near an ice biome) and it was honestly mediocre. Cool when matched with palladium, but not so useful elsewhere.

Just remember that if something might have a way to kill you, it will probably kill you
of all of the pretty few bad habits that terraria has, i think having fairly mundane low drop rate items on low spawn rate enemies is the worst. this is how a lot of cool weapons get overlooked, missed or even become unknown because nobody uses them or talks about them due to how hard they are to obtain when you could just get something else in much less time. i hope one day they significantly increase the drop rate of all these rare weapons from rare enemies
