Its a good thing to have such lush growth. Some old timers are saying its the best july/ august growing seasons they hsve seen in a generation or more. Congratulations on fantastic farm and grazing practices,,,, but remember,,, your best indicators are in the lean years. Watch your neighbours buying hay,, when you have fodder. Its something to remember on grass referencing.
Can you show a picture or short cideo showing your atv setup. Saw a glimpse of your reels hanging to the outside and figured youve experiemented and tested ablot. Trying to shorten my learning curve. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Ha. Fellow Michigander here!
Thx for your videos. Q. I have some areas that have "thinner" grass and concerned this will leave bare soil. I can overseed these areas before cattle enter, but concerned about bare soil and non.desirsble species takingg over. Any thoughts? Thx
@@JimCasler we have to get out of our heads what over grazing really means, it’s not leaving bare soil ( not that I condone leaving g bare soil) it’s coming back to the plant before it’s fully recovered, I had thinner spots all over this farm when we started, you could walk the pastures in August and pick rocks it was so thin. It will heal itself it will just take time. I think the stampeding of the cattle along with the defecation will help those areas.
Don't you also adjust paddock size so thinner areas to begin with are accounted for? I remember Jaime also was saying you are also looking at what time of year, what you did last year,, what do you want to accomplish. @drumhillerfarms6858
Looks good! I’m seeing excellent results in a drought hope to see even better when it rains
@@zhostetler3 heck yeah I hope you do get some rain
Thanks for the video. With some extra netting you can run the tractor inside, fence it and then lift it up, then move the empty one back out.
Man your pastures look amazing!! 🙏🏼 working on getting to that
@@AlgiereRanch thanks! Hope you do.
Incredible cows must love that
@@hooverelondono9946 they do!!!

@@tireddad6541 good point, always adjust your paddock size accordingly
How many total acres are you grazing with the cattle, how many cattle do you have?
@@georgeheller2281 120 head, we have only grazed 80 acres this year, we are stock piling about 30-35
Must have some good top soil.
@@georgeheller2281 when we started the grass was so thin you could pick rocks in August some places were like beach sand
@@georgeheller2281 25 and 35 day resting. Just are not enough.
Is that grass warm season?
