This totally made me giggle. It reminds me of a silly song that Americans learn in elementary school called Polly Wolly Doodle where the person in the song is described as having curly eyes and laughing hair I believe. I needed the giggle that you gave me. Happy holidays!
@@scarlettokeeffe9777 depending on who was sitting in the back, it might have been somebody who the person in the back recognized, or the bravest person in the group was sitting in the back and willing to speak with the stranger. I know that there's been situations where I've been in the back of a car and the only one in my friends group willing to either speak with a cop that pulled this over or I recognized a friend in car next to us and rolled down my window so it's very plausible.
if i was a suspect in a case i would be a GONER . my memory is so bad that they’d ask “where were you last night” and i’d have such a hard time answering
It’s doubtful. It’s likelier that they were ingesting something that caused a problem among them IMO. Alcohol or marijuana, perhaps something else. Gary was allegedly prescribed Stelazine for his psychosis. He was also given Cogentin to help stave off EPS. Stelazine is never prescribed anymore. I’ve never seen it on a formulary at any hospital and none of my patients have reported taking it upon admit. The only phenothiazine used commonly is Thorazine. Yet its use is confined to marked agitation and refractory psychosis in select patients. Phenothiazines also play a role in hypothermia as well. It would have taken 5 half-lives for the Stelazine to eliminate from Gary’s system, and the drug has a half-life of approximately 9.5 hours. So in two days the drug would have been out of his system but the clinical effects might be preserved longer. It all depends on how long he was on the drug and how consistent he was taking it. Interestingly he had a history of assault and other problems but had been doing good. The possibility exists that introduction of another drug affected Gary and/or the others. Without a toxicology we will never know. Anything is possible though and it’s truly a mystery.
Katrina Rose No, I found reference that states he was taking Stelazine (trifluoperazine), a phenothiazine like Thorazine, Proloxin, and Trilafon. This last three are the only phenothiazine antipsychotics we use now. Stelazine is a drug I’ve never seen prescribed. I believe it’s still on the market but there are a few first generation antipsychotics you never see now. Stalazine has the highest incidence of NMS and other problems that outweighs its therapeutic. Not too many patients are on FGAs as a maintenance med. The risk of TD and EPS is just too significant. Nevertheless, back then, FGAs were all we really used and he was reportedly taking Stelazine. But yes, Haldol is a FGA antipsychotic like Stelazine. ETA: Haldol, Thorazine, Proloxin, and a couple other older FGAs are used mostly for inpatient psychosis and agitation. Some patients do take them as OPs but only when they’ve failed to respond to SGAs like Zyprexa or Risperdal.
That heart attack guy is sooo shady. After a heart attack you go 12km to have a beer and come back to your car instead of going to that place and ask for help instead of beer. And sees the car parked near him and is not checking if someone may be there to help him.
From what I heard he had his attack and stayed in his car and was woken up at 1am by voices of 5 men and saw a lady and baby, baby clothes were also found in the cabin. But people have also said that could’ve been confusion after the heart attack? I’m not sure I hate not knowing hahaha
Did they do an autopsy of the guy who lived for 8-13 weeks but starved? He probably was paralyzed and couldn’t get to the food. In my opinion, There had to be foul play in this case
Possibly but doubtful. A human body cannot survive without fluids for more than a week max. Even if he didn't have food or couldn't access the food, in order for him to survive for 8-13 weeks he would have had access to fluids. I would have guessed that he would melted snow but the paralysis theory means that would be impossible.
Bella you are probably one of the only youtubers I watch with half an hour videos at normal speed. Literally everyone else with long videos I speed up to ×1.5 or 2
This is of course speculation, but here is a suggestion about the canned foods: previously, I heard that people are pretty sure Ted Weiher was on the autism spectrum. My cousin has autism, and he has a STRONG taste aversion to many foods. I think canned fruit is one of them. And from my understanding, that aversion is so strong that he might not be thinking "oh this is gross but this will save me," it's more like "no absolutely not." In general, I think a lot of the "they got lost" theory starts to make more sense when looking at it through a neuroatypical lens and saying "okay then what does this situation look like to these particular people."
SareeseTheFirst interesting, but there comes a certain point when a human is truly STARVING, that he/she will eat ANYTHING. When you get hungry enough, you won’t care about what it is or the taste. Starving humans have eaten raw animals...even canibalism!
I was thinking something like this too, but then how does the watch found in the cabin not belonging to any of the men explain this theory? That's the thing that keeps me stumped.
Margot I agree with you!! I have a close cousin who has pretty severe autism and I know quite a bit about it because of that and being around him, but I honestly can’t say I know what the reaction would be in this particular situation. Pure human instinct of needing food may take over to some point, but a strong aversion could also over power that.
Livi170 it’s not the taste. I’m autistic myself and taste isn’t what I’m so averse to. Yeah there are things I find to taste disgusting (dark meat from birds for example), but I can eat it. However, there are foods I literally cannot eat due to the texture. I will throw up. I can’t eat mushrooms or grilled hotdogs for example. Now, I haven’t been in a situation where I’ve been starving to death, but I wouldn’t automatically rule out that he refused to eat something because of its texture despite starving to death.
Yes. I have Sensory Processing Disorder (formerly Sensory Integration Dysfunction) & I have a taste aversion to certain foods. I just will not eat them. I'm a picky eater. If it were me, I'd eat what I could eat & leave the rest.
My favorite thing about these videos is how non judgmental and “professional” Bella is. Like she doesn’t make fun of any information or dramatize anything, she’s very informative and seems non bias! I feel like I’m actually able to Really understand these cases. She makes them easy to understand and sooo interesting and adds in all the people’s personalities!
I work with adults with disabilities. Some of the people I serve, do not make rational decisions. They might have heard of this place, or the Gary guy thought it would be cool to take a drive, or they heard of it at the game, ect. Once they got there, they might have made other irrational decisions. They might have been separated and not have known to look for food, or to work propane. I have had several of my clients just wander off , with no idea where they are going, how to survive, or to get help. It's why I am a Service Coordinator, to prevent these incidents by putting proper services in place. Just from my work experience, that is what I think happened. Then you throw in mental illness, and maybe that man hoarded the food, or had a psychotic break. The others may not be able to advocate for their needs, and sadly starved or froze when there was food, we would think to eat. So sad.
I have a friend with autism. Most kids are trained always sometimes or never. He wasn’t trained for sometimes When I first heard of this years ago, Army training or no, the stuff in the cabin didn’t belong to them so they might not have thought about it being ok to use it or take it
this is exactly how i was thinking watching this video. all of bella’s rationalizing is accurate, but for someone who is neurodivergent, it may not be so clear at all. i have a sibling with special needs and have worked with individuals with a whole spectrum of different developmental disabilities and you just really can’t predict their behavior like you would with the average person! i can easily (& sadly) image these men being so near to every provision they needed and just not having the comprehension to figure out how to sustain themselves… such a sad story
Did anyone ever look into the guy who had a heart attack? Like he just happened to be there in his car overnight on the same day they went missing? Maybe he just convinced the doctor to say that he had a heart attack somehow, it just seems too convenient for him. not to mention he changed his story? Idk just speculating but to me it definitely seems like foul play was involved, even though at first glance it does kinda seem like Matthias had a mental break and got paranoid and drove them out there, but there’s just too many red flags for me to buy it. like how far the bodies were from the car, how long they survived, the uneaten food, the fact that the driver knew the road, etc . it seems like maybe they met someone at the basketball game(maybe the heart attack guy? Maybe someone else?) who lured them out there for some reason... I live close to the area where this took place and there are some sketchy people that live out in the foothills it’s the kind of place you live when you don’t want to be bothered by anyone
It makes it difficult to find an exact cause maybe because of their mental conditions. They can't really think clearly, and especially the guy who was schizophrenic, the delusions may have taken over enabling him to think rationally.
Arlene right or maybe they started thinking that people were out to get them and that the food was poisoned or something bc I don’t think they had their medications and people are easily convinced if it’s over enough time
Makeup by Haylis it sounded like only one really needed meds. I assume the others were medicated somehow, but the only one we know that fact about is Gary. Gary reportedly didn’t take him medications with him, yet it’s unlikely skipping the med caused a problem. Hard to really determine since we don’t know his duration of Stelazine, which is what he took for psychosis. If he’d been religiously taking the Stelazine for 6 months, then stopping it for as long as 5 days or more wouldn’t be a huge issue. The fact that 5 men were missing and 4 found dead of nothing but starvation and hypothermia is the mystery. It’s also unusual that Gary was never found. I can’t fathom how 5 men went missing or died under mysterious circumstances. Food poisoning would just result in many stops on the drive to vomit or use the bathroom. They’d be dehydrated but that’s an extreme in all men. Disorientation would be a potential problem (delirium), but even drug use wouldn’t necessarily do them all in. I get to wonder if one of them got mad and made them stop, only to wander off out of view. Then the others went looking for him and succumbed to hypothermia. That’s my guess.
Alcohol is also well known and still used for those suffering symptoms of early hyperthermia (obviously not in a medical situation). Hence why avalanche rescue dogs carry alcohol around their necks. It warms the body, until help can arrive. This method has been around for a long time.
I had a mild heart attack earljer this year and i just assumed it was weird horrible cramps or something or cold related because i have body temp issues and it was -2c I just continued to go to dance class after it Youre body is wild
@@alygreene6883 personally my theory is if somebody did go crazy and kill everybody then it wouldve had to be the 4 they found 2 months later or Zinaida, they are the only ones that make sense, also Zinaida was found closest to their camp but she wasnt found first?? The two Yuris were found first but they were found SUUUPER close to the 4 found 2 months later???
I for sure think there was foul play involved. Maybe someone put him in the trailer after he died, perhaps he was in the trailer with the perpetrator and they didn't let him eat the rations but ate them instead. The watch that didn't belong to any of the men suggests someone else was involved. There are so many endless possibilities!
Catherine Milano completely agree it almost sounds like when the others passed or were murdered they took the men across from the cabin due to decomp and then when the final man passed they just left him in the cabin. That’s why there were so many different stages of decomposition to them all. Makes no sense why they would not eat the food in the sheds and cabin unless someone wasn’t allowing them to. They didn’t use the propane or have a fire because it would have drawn attention to the cabin. This is so sad.
@@fla_girl0512 I agree, that is what I think happened otherwise there is no way they wouldn't have eaten any of the rations or used the propane to light a fire. Someone else was for sure involved and staged their deaths (i.e. placing them where they were). It's very sad that they had a chance of survival but that someone took it away from them.
@@fla_girl0512 I just read your comment! it's definitely interesting, I initially had that thought too that perhaps Joseph knew something a little more than he led on. He does have some inconsistencies in his story but even if the men never returned, don't you think he would've tried to tell the police that he saw them and they disappeared etc, him lying to them makes me think that he has something more to do with it
There was definitely foul play! There's no way someone who is lost and finds shelter with food, clothes, etc. Will not touch anything. I think they were taken hostage-somehow. They were led up the mountain and they were murdered. UNLESS the one driving just took everyone up the mountain and they got lost. IDK this case is super weird BUT there was definitely foul play.
hey bella! i just wanna say i love your videos and i want to request a case. i've been looking into the joey labute case lately and it's so heartbreaking. i live in the state he was "murdered" (i use quotation marks because we're not actually sure if he was murdered or what) and i've walked and seen above the river he was found, dead. there's a bridge right above the river where he was found and once i realized that i'd walked over the same bridge it made my stomach turn and i felt sick. the family still needs closure. the joey labute case is inexplicably confusing. this case needs to be brought to an end. thank you bella. edit: just want to say how much i appreciate the likes. i wasn't meaning to get a bunch of likes. i just want the family to get closure and this case, its sickening.
Five guys at an out of town college sporting event - might someone have offered them a drug they shouldn't have taken? Wouldn't be the first time its ever happened. Did they do a toxicology report on the guy in the trailer? Also, girl with baby, these guys sounded like they may not have had a lot of women chasing after them so they may have been vulnerable to a woman being used as a ploy of some sort but the guy in the trailer wasn't robbed so.....wow. CRAZY! PS Heart attack dude sounds sketchy as hell.
Maybe heart attack guy was initially lured up there himself by this mystery woman and when they were getting frisky in his car, he had a heart attack and then she dipped and hitched a ride with the guys as they were passing and somehow took advantage of them next.. there probably was no baby.
I just watched another video of this on Bedtime Stories channel someone commented a theory that was interesting their theory was that Joseph Shones and the men crossed paths and since he was ill and the men were good hearted men they tried to make it to the cabin to somehow get help for him and were defeated by the weather conditions and once the men never returned he had to make it on his own and he lied about the women and child out of guilt. Interesting theory I thought.
I just started watching u this week because I have been sick and have become OBSESSED with these cases and I love these videos and how much work u put into them!
I love how diverse your cases are. I’m watching an Australian youtuber cover a case right outside my town in sacramento. You truly are awesome at these videos and can make everyone from around the world feel connected!
I've seen stuff about this case before, and you're right, it's absolutely mind boggling! No answers, just a million questions why. Well done in presenting it though, Bella.
i find it weird that he wouldn't take his medication with him, even for a day trip for such a serious condition. it's not something you can get off the counter in a pharmacy. i take my migraine pills everywhere, there's some in my bag non stop, i also have some pills for stomach issues usually with me. i don't know why but i just find it so strange.
I have several mental illnesses but I only carry around the medication I would need ASAP, but the ones I take once a day or whatever I’ll leave at home if I’m going somewhere, even for a whole day, cause I already took it and don’t expect to need it, does that make sense? Sorry if it doesn’t haha
All depends on how long he was planning on being gone. It’s not a PRN used for a paroxysmal disorder but a maintenance med. so skipping a dose or two wouldn’t likely be a problem.
Szimola well, I guess you have to be prepared for the sudden onset of a migraine or stomach issue but I suspect this medication had to be taken regularly, eg once a day, so there would be no need to carry them around
Szimola I totally agree. I have a few conditions including epilepsy, ADD and anxiety: and I normally carry 4-7 days worth of medication just on a regular basis
Hey Bella, this is my theory! A bit long but, hope it helps. The guys met with fowl play and bullies. I don't think they would have gotten lost, and even if they did, they would have stayed together in the car until the next morning - especially if it got stuck in the snow. This is my theory: 1. The boys met bullies or a bunch of problem - makers either during or after the game in Chico. The bullies forced them and accompanied them up Oroville-Quincy Highway in Plumas Nat Park. 2. The bullies were familiar with the Oroville-Quincy Highway and that is why Madruga's car seemed to have been in perfect condition. They force the 5 up the mountain with the plan of abandoning them there, getting the car stuck in snow and taking the car keys in order to confuso them - a mean game. 3. The bullies force the 5 to get out of the car and scare them into running away as part of a mean prank. They may have played such a mean game telling them to ''find'' a cabin or something else and that they would do something to them if they tried returning to the car. 4. Joseph Shones believes he saw (or hallucinated due to his mild heart attack) double sets of car lights. When calling out for help from his car, the bullies quickly go silent and shut off their car headlights so Shones can't make out who they are or what type of car they have. This is also why no one decides to help Shones - because they don't want to be caught or get into trouble. They then flee and leave the picture. 5. During the rest of the late night/early morning the boys are in a frantic search for help while trying to survive and two - Sterling and Madruga - die of hypothermia. The other three - Huett, Weiher and Mathias - eventually find the cabin trailer. Weiher has suffered terribly and having swollen feet, cannot take anymore and is placed by the other two on a bed in the trailer. They wrap blankets around him in order to help him heat up and he was probably on the verge of passing out and dying. While Weiher lies in bed unable to walk due to frostbite and severe pain, the other two venture out to find help. Matias exchanges his shoes for Weihers as his own feet are swollen and he needs shoes of a bigger size to put on. (Weiher was bigger). Before leaving, Matias opens a few cans of food for Weiher to eat. 6. Huette and Matias, upon trying to find help, get disorientated and die due to hypothermia unable to find help or return to the cabin where Weiher is waiting. 7. Weiher survives for a few more days or possibly weeks and months (as the autopsy suggested) wrapped up in the blankets unable to walk, probably too hungry to try and find food in the cabin. He probably didn't even know there was food or a way to heat up the cabin as he was just in too much pain as well as mentally unfit to logically make sense of things after all the distress and trauma. He eventually succumbs to the circumstances. 8. Months later Weiher's body is discovered in the trailer and in the following days, all the mens bodies are discovered near the área except that of Matias. Matias probably died the same night he ventured out the trailer along with Huett but his body has never been located. 9. The bullies who wanted to play a nick game on the 5 took it too far and, after realizing what had happened, to this day have never come out and admitted their unintentional crime. My theory. Thanks.
Maddie Grace especially with 2 of them being in the army so they would want to help and be strong enough. For example what if the people in the truck said that their friends were stuck on the mountain ? So the guys offerd to help them?
PLEASE do a video on Shanda sharers case i’ve been asking for a bit now i think you would be captivated by this case it’s honestly so horrible considering the ages of the suspects involved it’s honestly so heartbreaking i think you really should talk about it because she doesn’t really have that much recognition i recently read the book called Cruel Sacrifice and it tells the real story and point of view from the “killers”perspective and others as well pls talk about her case so heartbreaking. Please mention Melinda loveless, tony, hope, and laurie the girls involved with the killing. I love you so much you do amazing in every video everything you talk about is thoroughly researched which is really cool.
I heard about this case one websleuths years ago, they had a long thread on it, not sure if it is still there. This really is a baffling case. I remembered it because nothing made sense. Why were they driving into the mountains, why was food untouched in trailer, blankets not used, weird sightings that make no sense. Why would five guys be in back of a pickup truck in the mountains, not the easiest terrain. The left behind vehicle they drove had gas and was in working condition. Bodies that were found were not found together, three were found outside in the elements one in the trailer and another one never found.
My theory is this: If the red pickup is real, is it possible that the people in that truck took advantage of the men's disabilities and lured them into this remote area. There, since there was no sign of a struggle or any damage to the car, they were lured out of the car and the three bodies (can't remember their names forgive me) who's bones were found scattered everywhere were killed and the killers left them there for nature to take care of. Mathias and Weir then flee and they come up to the trailer, panicked they break the window open and climb in. They don't set a fire because they don't want to be seen by their pursuers and their fear and lack of knowledge of the area prevents them from finding the rations, the blankets, and they died because of their fear of being spotted by their pursuers. Mathias takes Weir's shoes to go outside and is killed and left for the animals to feed and Weir dies alone. This is just a theory and I don't know how plausible it sounds but that's my take on it. I hope one day we find out what happened to these men because this was such a sad, tragic story.
I also 100% think this had something to do with people bullying a group of handicapped men out by themselves far from home - I think that was the start of it all for sure and they were the ones with the pick up truck that drove them to the trailer
I think Gary may have lost his mind and killed them all but it leaves a lot of holes. What's up with the pick up truck? Also I want to know how the guy who had a heart attack got rescued. This is a crazy mystery and one I've never heard dispite living very near this area.
Good point on the guy that'd a hear attack. Plus this story changed about a million times it seems and, if I understood correctly, why walk back to a car thats out of gas and not just call for help while having his hear attack aperitif :P
ND Olivier right like why leave the car? none of that made sense... at first I thought the people in the pickup might have hijacked them but there were five of them and there was no sign of a struggle at the car... a hardcore mystery without a doubt.
posikillsangst this Gary Mathias spells his name with one t. That's impressive researching though that's actually not super far away from the area this happened.
APSaddict I apologize I made an error with typing his last name wrong, on the database it shows with one T. There’s a landline phone number and the age of his shows to be 66.
Those poor men! It sounds like they had a great network as friends and each of them had the drive to give each other and themselves purpose, which is so difficult with having a mental handicap. Definitely a fascinating case and I hadn’t heard of it before.
I dont understand why heart attack guy would go back up the mountain to his car which was completely useless at that point and not just wait till the next day to get it towed after the snow had melted, so that is really sketchy to me. I think that Mathias might have had this planned. Maybe he didnt take his pills on purpose and offered to drive them home but instead drove them to this location and it was dark so the other guys didnt really notice they were not going the right direction until it was too late. I also think its weird how two of the guys that were found had already decomposed literally down to their bones but the other two men had not. But if it was Mathias I think that would also explain the food that was eaten . I wonder if they all died of starvation or if there was foul play involved.
I was thinking about this case just a few days ago and couldn't remember enough of it to search it back up and read about it again. It's like you read my mind.
I've been loving all these uploads!!! We appreciate all the effort you have been putting into all of them, these cases are so interesting. This one is so so confusing lol just nothing makes sense
This wouldn't explain why they were up in the forest in the first place, but what if one of them got frustrated, or maybe Gary forgot his medication or something, and got out of the car and started walking or running away? it could explain why the window was down if they were trying to call out to him, and then if he ran off the road into the trees, why they would have abandoned a perfectly functioning car with gas. Maybe they were just trying to catch up with him, then got lost and were wandering around for a while and got disoriented. maybe Ted's feet had gotten frost bitten and couldn't walk so when they stumbled on the trailers they carried him in. and when they saw there was food they stopped and had something to eat before leaving Ted to look around, either for Gary or the other trailers, etc. and they got attacked by animals. I saw someone else mention this, but maybe Ted was paralyzed from the frostbite, or just in too much pain to stand and get the rest of the food and so he ate what was within reach before slowly starving? And Gary just wandered in a different direction and just hasn't been found yet.. I hadn't heard of this case before but it's very interesting. I still don't know why they would have ended up on the mountain, or what the pickup truck/ heart attack guy would have to do with it... I have driven on many forestry service roads in a low-lying VW and while it's not the ideal vehicle type it's certainly doable for most roads, you just have to drive pretty slow... maybe someone told them there was a shortcut, or they took a wrong turn and were looking for a place to turn around (a lot of those roads are pretty narrow)? idk, but this case is going to bug me!
my theory is (and its not complete) that there was definitely foul play involved & they were taken to the trailers by someone (or more people). the food wasn’t there, they(the attackers) put it in there after the first man on the bed died from starvation. then somehow the other men escaped, one took the dead mans shoes (bc of what you said). but they were too weak so they didnt make it far & might have been attacked or their bodies just couldnt take it anymore.
kind of off topic, but i remember one of the first videos that i watched from your channel was about the actual dyatlov pass. it feels like we’ve both come a really long way since then! i’m so proud of you
I’m going to school at Chico state and I have never heard of this case!! It’s also interesting to hear you talk about an area that I am familiar with. Such a heartbreaking case
Maybe they rolled down the window to talk to somebody that they thought could help them and the person directed them to these shelters and then did something with them and their bodies when they got there.
I AM SO SORRY. I watched ALL of these and didn't like once. I think you told them so well so I was always in shock and turned my laptop screen down to take a breather. Going back to like all the videos now. That's never happened before hahaha take it as a compliment!
I love the way you cover all topics, I have some suggestions for future videos. I am also Australian and I do want to see more of these cases become internationally known. “The man on the crucifix” or sometimes called “rack man” “Vanishing” or “missing Cessna 210” an airplane. “Tynong North serial killings” “Disappearance of AE1” a submarine.
soo sad this is ending soon but so happy and thankful you did this ❤️ definitely gave me something to look forward to, these last few weeks have been awful
But who died first? What if the guy in the trailer saw how his friends got attacked by animals and was so shocked that he refused to eat? Gary maybe got psychotic and decided to walk into the forest and animals destroyed every part of him... However, that wouldn’t explain how they got so far from home and from their car and why did they leave their car at all.
The more I think about it, I have to wonder if someone in the car got mad. Since Gary was never found, maybe he was the angry party. Nevertheless, an argument ensues and the car is stopped. The angry party exits and starts walking away. As the rest sit there and expect him to come back, they soon realize that he’s not in sight and too much time has passed. Eventually, they exit the car to search for him. As they wander around looking, they wax and wane between returning to the car and searching. Over time hypothermia sets in for some and they become slightly disoriented. After a period of time they are fatigued and start to die. Basically, they go after a friend, can’t find him, and die looking.
odiebombodie maybe he had a significant amount of frostbite and pain that associated with his other hypothermic symptoms impaired his ability to open packages and eat. People do strange things in extreme cold temperatures when lost. We don’t have nearly enough info to discern whether anyone really ate or not. Perhaps they ate some but eventually succumbed to exposure.
@@odiebombodie There is a theory that the ones who found the trailer didn't eat the food, because they thought it was private property. They were scared they would be arrested, so they didn't eat.
The fact that he was covered in 7/8 white sheets and there was an unknown watch in the cabin tells us someone else must have been involved and maybe that person kept the man locked up and starved him until he died then layed out his body with the sheets and left. Explains why there was food there left untouched.
I was born in Yuba County, and didn't know about this case until about 5 years ago. To give you a little context, I'm 48 years old, so I find it interesting I didn't know about it. We did move away from there in 1976, lived in Europe for several years, but my grandparents lived there in 78, when this happened, and never mentioned it when we moved back. Anyway, good job on bringing awareness all the way from the Antipodes. I realize it's been 2 years since this upload, so I hope you see this comment. Stay wonderful and keep educating 😊
I think someone convinced these mentally vulnerable men to go with them (for whatever reason) and they most likely abused them. Honestly, missing medication for a few days doesn't mean he would automatically start having schizophrenic symptoms especially if he was so consistent with his medication two years. If anything Gary was are off his medication for a few weeks and then something triggered an episode on the way home. However, I think they were tricked into helping someone or they were offered something...Then they were taken by the person with the pickup truck
Girl yessss I wanna know what could've caused them to go in that direction , so weird, I was thinking maybe they got out the car if they saw a bear or something was blocking their way thru but idk its so weird and a real mystery...
I loooove these videos, please cover the Kyron Horman case! He's from my home town and a lot of people suspect his mother was involved in his disappearance.
Hm. Is it possible that the two that were in the army had died/disappeared so the guy found in the trailer couldn't open the food because he didn't know how? I mean I feel like he'd be able to figure it out but I don't know. The one thing that convinces me of some sort of foul play is the watch. Everything else could conceivably be explained without involving foul play. But not the watch. It had to get there somehow. I see everyone saying that the heart attack guy is sketchy but... I don't think so. I don't know why, but his story doesn't really throw up any red flags for me. But anyway here's a theory I think: they met someone at the game, and since they all seemed to be fairly naive and trusting, they agreed to follow the person (possible the woman with the baby?) to hang out at their cabin or something. Maybe this woman was bait of some kind. I could have been a ken and Barbie killer situation where it was like a couple that would lure people in to kidnap and imprison. Maybe the man were all held somewhere else and then after their deaths their killers moved the bodies. Or their killers purposefully set up all this confusing horseshit to throw people off. Maybe the woman pretended that her car broke down so the men would stop too? Or could it be the man with schizophrenia hadn't taken his medication in a couple of days so he started having a psychotic break, and the rest of the men looked at him for guidance in a made up situation? Maybe they got to that area by accident? Like they thought they were heading toward home but later realized they were going in the complete wrong direction?
I feel like they would've had to have met someone or a group of people there either at the basketball game or outside the diner. Who were able to manipulate them to follow them somewhere. The watch that was there and didn't belong to any of them. The fact that they hated the cold weather but somehow managed to be stripped down to lighter clothing. Idk and the fact that they had mental disabilities does make this case a bit harder because they probably weren't able to analyze the situation and make rational decisions.
Let’s take a guess at how many people are going to comment on ‘brown curly eyes’ as if there aren’t already 100 comments about it 👀😂
An uncountable amount!
This totally made me giggle. It reminds me of a silly song that Americans learn in elementary school called Polly Wolly Doodle where the person in the song is described as having curly eyes and laughing hair I believe. I needed the giggle that you gave me. Happy holidays!
hahaha funnyyyy...LOVE YOU BELLA
HAHAHAHAHAHA i didnt even realise it
I HAD to comment .. that had me laughing so much!!! :)))
"brown curly eyes" now THAT is the real mystery
laughingatyourface i thought I was the only one who noticed 🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂I'm dying
I had to go back and listen when I first heard it 😂
LMAOOOOO
She said COLOR it just sounded like she said "curly" because of her accent.
This is kinda irrelevant to the video but Alessia Cara mentioned in an interview that she loves to watch your channel!
Sarah Amaladoss that’s dope asf
no way, how crazy so awesome
That is so great! Congrats Bella!😁

Maybe the window was down because they were talking to someone
The back window ??
@@scarlettokeeffe9777 depending on who was sitting in the back, it might have been somebody who the person in the back recognized, or the bravest person in the group was sitting in the back and willing to speak with the stranger. I know that there's been situations where I've been in the back of a car and the only one in my friends group willing to either speak with a cop that pulled this over or I recognized a friend in car next to us and rolled down my window so it's very plausible.
These videos make me realize that I never pay attention to the things going on around me.

Interestingly most people’s brains can be jogged by seeing a few images of people you’d never think you’d remember!

I'm wondering now if maybe Gary didn't take his medication and he freaked out which caused everyone else to as well.
I appreciate all the hard work you put into your videos!!!
I've always heard it that he had a heart attack and stayed in his car. Anything else and I think someone is bullshiting

WHAT i didn know that was a thing!! Definitely not all hero wear capes❤️
So sad.
This ^^^ 👏👏👏
That's what I was thinking, also if there was some sort of foul play (pickup truck) people could have easily taken advantage of them.
I have a friend with autism. Most kids are trained always sometimes or never. He wasn’t trained for sometimes When I first heard of this years ago, Army training or no, the stuff in the cabin didn’t belong to them so they might not have thought about it being ok to use it or take it
That’s true, but they were all mentally stable enough to take a trip far away so it just confusing
this is exactly how i was thinking watching this video. all of bella’s rationalizing is accurate, but for someone who is neurodivergent, it may not be so clear at all. i have a sibling with special needs and have worked with individuals with a whole spectrum of different developmental disabilities and you just really can’t predict their behavior like you would with the average person! i can easily (& sadly) image these men being so near to every provision they needed and just not having the comprehension to figure out how to sustain themselves… such a sad story
Did anyone ever look into the guy who had a heart attack? Like he just happened to be there in his car overnight on the same day they went missing? Maybe he just convinced the doctor to say that he had a heart attack somehow, it just seems too convenient for him. not to mention he changed his story? Idk just speculating
but to me it definitely seems like foul play was involved, even though at first glance it does kinda seem like Matthias had a mental break and got paranoid and drove them out there, but there’s just too many red flags for me to buy it. like how far the bodies were from the car, how long they survived, the uneaten food, the fact that the driver knew the road, etc . it seems like maybe they met someone at the basketball game(maybe the heart attack guy? Maybe someone else?) who lured them out there for some reason... I live close to the area where this took place and there are some sketchy people that live out in the foothills it’s the kind of place you live when you don’t want to be bothered by anyone
sophie brooks Yea I agree. It seems like they were hiding from someone since they didn’t make a fire.

What am I going to do when 12 days of Christmas is over 😪
We'll re-watch older videos to satisfy our thirst 😭😂
It makes it difficult to find an exact cause maybe because of their mental conditions. They can't really think clearly, and especially the guy who was schizophrenic, the delusions may have taken over enabling him to think rationally.
I was wondering if he has some kind of episode and convinced the others to go on this quest for some reason.
That’s my guess.
so he JUST had a heart attack and thought drinking a beer would be a good idea? lmao
Most people don’t know they’re having heart attacks honestly. He could have thought it was something to do with the cold
Alcohol is also well known and still used for those suffering symptoms of early hyperthermia (obviously not in a medical situation). Hence why avalanche rescue dogs carry alcohol around their necks. It warms the body, until help can arrive. This method has been around for a long time.
I would shiiiit😂

The Dyatlov Pass incident really stumped me and now this one!!
ALI BUZZELLI same. a few days ago i thought about the dyatlov pass video bc it is my favourite and now this 😍
What’s your theory about the Dyatlov Pass incident?
I just commented another theory on the video I read it from another channel that covered this let me know what you think?
@@fla_girl0512 I just read your comment! it's definitely interesting, I initially had that thought too that perhaps Joseph knew something a little more than he led on. He does have some inconsistencies in his story but even if the men never returned, don't you think he would've tried to tell the police that he saw them and they disappeared etc, him lying to them makes me think that he has something more to do with it
Catherine Milano yes ma’am exactly stories like this make me want to like be a PI or something 😂 I feel like man I can solve this shit😁
ND Olivier if it took about 8-13 weeks for them to die then maybe the drugs wouldn’t show up in the tox screening.
@@sassywasthebestcat great point. Plus it doesn't sound like the guys found in the field had much to test :( Hmmm...
I thought drugs, too...
Maybe heart attack guy was initially lured up there himself by this mystery woman and when they were getting frisky in his car, he had a heart attack and then she dipped and hitched a ride with the guys as they were passing and somehow took advantage of them next.. there probably was no baby.
How could they have driven up the mountain on drugs and not damaged the car lol?

I just watched another video of this on Bedtime Stories channel someone commented a theory that was interesting their theory was that Joseph Shones and the men crossed paths and since he was ill and the men were good hearted men they tried to make it to the cabin to somehow get help for him and were defeated by the weather conditions and once the men never returned he had to make it on his own and he lied about the women and child out of guilt. Interesting theory I thought.

Kayla Rogs makes sense, that’s what I thought, that if you only need to take them once a day then there is no need to carry them with you.
I was confused at first cause I was like haven't you done this already? But it's the American one
Hey Bella, this is my theory! A bit long but, hope it helps.
The guys met with fowl play and bullies. I don't think they would have gotten lost, and even if they did, they would have stayed together in the car until the next morning - especially if it got stuck in the snow. This is my theory:
My theory. Thanks.
The dyatlov pass is my number one favourite mystery. THANK YOU!!!!! never heard of this before!!!
This case is absolutely insane. Nothing makes sense. This is definitely one for the record books. Thanks for filming this.
Do you think someone from Chico told them to follow them back home but led them in the wrong direction??
Maddie Grace thats a good theory , maybe they met someone who told them they needed help and they followed them...
And maybe they talked to them when they got to the mountain so that's why the window was down 😲
That’s what I thought too!!
Andrea Vidovic omg yess
I definitely think this is what pretty much happened
watched this while doing my makeup and finished my makeup as soon as you finished the video... i feel accomplished
I’m kinda sad that ur ending this soon 😑😥
I found on a database of a Gary Dale Matthias age 66 (he was born in 1952) living in Shingle Springs California. I’m not sure if it’s him though.
posikillsangst this Gary Mathias spells his name with one t. That's impressive researching though that's actually not super far away from the area this happened.

Those poor men! It sounds like they had a great network as friends and each of them had the drive to give each other and themselves purpose, which is so difficult with having a mental handicap.
Definitely a fascinating case and I hadn’t heard of it before.
i’ll be depressed when these daily uploads end
when you said ‘brown curly eyes’ i started cry laughing. absolutely incredible. thanks for your hard work on these videos bella ❤️

I learn more from Bella then any history teacher ever. Love these videos and you Bella! ❤️
Has everyone forgotten that Joseph
Schone said something like, “I should
have done this years ago!” What did he
mean by this?
It's the middle of the night and I promised myself I'm gonna stop watching your video but here I am
kind of off topic, but i remember one of the first videos that i watched from your channel was about the actual dyatlov pass. it feels like we’ve both come a really long way since then! i’m so proud of you
I’m going to school at Chico state and I have never heard of this case!! It’s also interesting to hear you talk about an area that I am familiar with. Such a heartbreaking case
your from that area too!! I came from the camp fire
@@ruth.navarr0 woah really?!
Gurl, I live for your videos, I have been binge watching them like crazy!!
YAY I’ve been binge watching all of your videos and I already watched all of them within 4 days
When Bella is like one of the only UA-camrs I watched due to her amazing content...
I don't want they mystery videos to end. 😭 im gonna miss this marathon of mystery videos
we stan a queen posting constantly !
Maybe they rolled down the window to talk to somebody that they thought could help them and the person directed them to these shelters and then did something with them and their bodies when they got there.
Does anyone else watch her videos and think 'damn she's beautiful' phaha
I AM SO SORRY. I watched ALL of these and didn't like once. I think you told them so well so I was always in shock and turned my laptop screen down to take a breather. Going back to like all the videos now. That's never happened before hahaha take it as a compliment!
I love the way you cover all topics, I have some suggestions for future videos. I am also Australian and I do want to see more of these cases become internationally known.
“The man on the crucifix” or sometimes called “rack man”
“Vanishing” or “missing Cessna 210” an airplane.
“Tynong North serial killings”
“Disappearance of AE1” a submarine.
watching this while eating breakfast. i LUV this series & you duh♥️🦋
soo sad this is ending soon but so happy and thankful you did this ❤️ definitely gave me something to look forward to, these last few weeks have been awful
Fcreceptor most logical and simplest explanation but doesn’t explain why he didn’t eat the food
odiebombodie maybe he had a significant amount of frostbite and pain that associated with his other hypothermic symptoms impaired his ability to open packages and eat.
Omg I live in this city yet never heard of this
Omfg the cough at 15:25 killed me, nearly jumped out of my skin 😅
Melissa Chambers It was the dog 😂
Lol me too. I think I lost a year of my life it scared me so badly!
SAME
next mystery monday needs to be on the phenomenon of brown curly eyes
This is my favorite case you’ve covered 🤩 thank you
your earrings collection is honestly AMAZING ME. loving all of them😍
@@No-sl6ug lmao wtf?
all your old band tees + unique earrings combos in these vids r so cute. love from NY!
I had saw another you tuber do this story. It gets me every time I hear it. I don't know what to think. Great video.
I love how she says “two”.
I love the hard work you put into your videos! Keep up the good work and have a great Christmas in advance!!
I went to high school in Yuba City and when you said Yuba County my jaw dropped. I’ve never heard of this case.
Girl yessss I wanna know what could've caused them to go in that direction , so weird, I was thinking maybe they got out the car if they saw a bear or something was blocking their way thru but idk its so weird and a real mystery...
Totally irrelevant to the case but I couldn't stop staring at your skin!! That foundation looks gorgeously radiant 😍
Hello u yes u the one scrolling down the comments I love u and have a good day😍😘❤
Hala Oun I love you and hope you have a good day as well ❤️
Hala Oun ditto👍🏼
Thank you! Happy Holidays!
I love this series!!! I’m so addicted! I love your videos Bella!!! 💓💓💓
Best series everrrrr!!!! I love these mystery videos!
I can't even come up with a logical explanation regarding this case & like you~ I'd love to know what happened!
Bella’s videos are the only ones I thumb up before watching them lol
15:24 wtfffff is that noise😂
her dog
Charlotte Thompson i literally jumped that scared the hell out of me
and at 15:43 it sounds like a little girl singing or something 😭
Charlotte Thompson just about to ask
i was kinda scared watching this video alone and when this happened I literally jumped 😂
You’re videos are always so interesting, it’s obvious that you put a lot of work into these 😊
This is the most strangest and confusing case I’ve ever heard of.
