I so want to tune correctly (like euro models) my 2003, and 2015 TDI's. Dont think that 800.00 each is even near fair. Open source and tutorial here is great.
Great video! Just a couple of questions: can i use the tactrix j2534 obd adapter with the flash gui? And is the flash gui available for windows 10? Last but not least, what would be a pretty forward looking software to make changes in the ecu map in this combination?
This might be a simple question, but I'm stuck. How do you open the program? I have python and python works as it should. I can't click the program and it run. I even try opening in cmd and it states this. Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.19042.1415] (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Can you go over what hardware you are using to connect to the car? I see there is a SimosHiSpeedLogger that uses a RaspberryPi? This whole project sounds super awesome!
Thanks! Yep, the initial development was all done via raspberry pi/socketcan using a canhat or a seeedStudio board. The code was later tested on windows and I wrote a j2534 PassThru wrapper for the dll, so this video was done using a tactrix openport cable. Itll run on a macbook with a little bit of effort too!
This software wasn't written so you could flash someone else's tune. If you have "another company tune", unless it's an uncompressed/unencrypted bin file, it'll do you no good. That said, you can absolutely flash an R file to your GTI. and you'll trip the immobilizer for power class mismatch and you'll need to open the ECU and bench restore it. The actual flash procedure is 1/10th of the tuning process. You'll want to build or acquire a properly tuned GTI file and flash that.
This is too cool. Now I get to debate how long I want to hold onto my warranty for before trying to fix the rev hang.
Rev hang is a eliminated in a single table. It's a 5 minute fix.
@@MrJoedubs that’s awesome. I read through the thread on golfmk7, if I wanted to look more into the process would you be able to DM me a discord link?
