- Sanji Vs Luffy. This is one of the most heart-breaking "duels" I've ever seen. Maybe Sanji's way is a bit too much, but at this moment I really understood why Sanji did that and it was very difficult for him. He just wanted Luffy and the others to be safe even though he had to suffer alone in a place that wasn't where he belonged. Sanji is always my favorite.

Something undervalued is that Luffy looks sanji right in the eye the entire time as he gets hit, essentially telling sanji he sees through him

Luffy said he would starve to death. Remember, Sanji is a person who cooks rice even for his enemies. For Sanji, starving to death is crueler than any other death. Luffy knows this and dares to say so. This can only be done if both parties trust each other.
If zoro was there, he wouldnt interfere. This is probably one of my favorite and saddest moments in One Piece.

Its the same like Usopps fight with Luffy... he didnt interfare because, its a matter between a Member of his crew and his captain! He tried to calm down the situation INSIDE the Ship before Sanji didnt kicked luffy in the face for what he said to Usopp... he just said "Just stop it now"... but at the moment where this fight goes personal, he knew it! After Nami said "Get him back" to Luffy after usopp left the Ship, Zoro just stared at Luffy like as he wanted to say "Dont do it" with his face ... because after the fight with Usopp he said to Luffy "You did what you had to do... if you gave up, we had no respect for you anymore" ... Thats why Zoro is the UNOFFICIAL VICE CAPTAIN! ... People can deny it if they want, but so many actions of Zoro proved it, that hes the Vice Admiral!
He let himself getting beaten along with his Captain from Bellamys Crew without any good reason (it was really dumb but he stood there with Luffy until the very end)
He stood up for Luffys HONOR that Usopp can join back ONLY if he apologize to Luffy!
He decided as well that its ENOUGH after their fight! (Usopp vs Luffy)
He took ALL the pain from Luffy whats been pupulled from Kuma! (Yeah i know Sanji would have did the same, but no one knows if Sanji could manage the DMG like Zoro did)
And the list is keep going!
Zoro would NEVER interfare in Luffys fights, because he KNOWS Luffy can handle it by himself because its HIS Captain! ... He just respect him!
But as expected, EVERY Community has some idiots who dont have common sense and still hiding between there "Opinions" they dont wanna get the obvious in their head ^^
The fact that Luffy learned how bad it feels to fight against your own crew when he fought Usopp, and now he does nothing and says that Sanji is the one suffering (because he knows how it feels). That's pure character development.
My guy tanked all of this without haki after fighting a Commander for about 12 hours.

This is one of the best moments in one piece. Sanji pushing his captain and crew away so they won't get hurt and he can endure this alone, Luffy seeing right through him the whole time, the dedication he has for Sanji, Nami feeling betrayed, obviously, it's difficult for her to trust someone and Sanji broke her trust here beating their captain. Perfect character writing, how can some people say that Oda lost his touch after timeskip?
Reason Why Sanji did this:
Sanjis whole purpose of fighting and making luffy leave him was 2 things
1. Sanjis family was at stake and even if he told the truth, theres literally no way Luffy would leave him behind. He'd try to find a way to save sanjis family and sanji (And by luffys logic, its defeating both bigmom pirates and germa66)
2. He'd have to go against germa66 and bigmom pirates ALL ALONE which he has literally no chance to win (infact he already lost once and barely escaped as he got lucky bigmom was having hunger thing and that bege and germa teamed up with him which no way Sanji couldve known)
So Sanji decided to Save Luffy and his Family by going against Luffy and making him believe he hates him (Just like Ussop left). Sanji was literally sacrificing his entire life for them

Exactly, luffy has made up his mind here and would tell him to stay out of it just as he told Nami. Luffys not the one being hurt, it's sanji so there's no reason for zoro to attack sanji. Luffy understands the situation and zoro would do as his captain says. Some fights aren't worth fighting as in Jaya.

But still Zoro will have issues with Sanji. You can’t say there wouldn’t be any issue. He wouldn’t tolerate someone disrespecting his captain like that. No matter the consequences Zoro will always choose Luffy over others. That’s his character trait. He would try to intervene and back off in Luffy’s command.
mannnn rewatching one piece its like double the damage of luffy actually needing his crewmates, not just as best friends but like family as well, specially after luffy lost ACE he just want to be a strong captain for his crews and just wanting to be able to depend more on each other, fuck man, Luffy the goat

i really love this scene not alot get why sanji did what he did, sanji is a selfless man and he think lowly of himself and thats why he resisted luffy not because he thinks luffy cannot help him but because sanji think he is not worth the trouble.. sanji only cook for the others and fight for the others.
and thats why luffy said he will starve himself to death because he know sanji cant resist to help another person he abused that fact and when he came, he cornered him after the punch and told him what does SANJI want not the others and then he cried.. because for the first time he said what does he want.. to return to sunny, but since he is selfless person he cannot let his family die even though he hates them.

When Luffy says "This is a duel". It was actually a duel. Luffy hits him back with just one punch when Sanji returns with the food.
I think it was a duel but more so a duel between Sanji and himself, Luffy wanted Sanji to see that he saw thru his act and that he would be frank enough and believe in his captain enough that they would make things work

Siempre los comentarios comparando la lealtad de cada personaje, cuando la realidad es que cada integrante de los mugiwaras daría su vida por Luffy y por sus amigos.
Me encanta ver las series y analizar a los personajes, y para eso se debe tomar en cuenta su pasado, Zoro, de todos los Mugiwaras es quien menos "sufrio" tomando eso como subjetivo y se caracteriza por tener una personalidad super rígida y diligente, como lo sería un Samurai, que eran capaces de todo por sus señores, pero Sanji no es así, el fue un niño maltratado física y emocionalmente lo cual lo lleva a ser alguien altamente vulnerable, ya que cuando una víctima vuelve a revivir el trauma y la sensación de indefención es como que volviera a ser ese niño maltratado sin control de nada, Sanji ama a sus amigos, pero siente que no puede pelear y que es una causa perdida rebelarse ante lo que lo oprime, es indefención aprendida, no es que sea desleal, es que no encuentra salida más que esa. Luego están, por ejemplo, Nami, ella se acostumbro a vivir como una gato callejero, sobreviviendo sola y sin llorar, gritar o pedir ayuda, porque también aprendió que nadie acudiría a su rescate, que tenía que pelear sola, es por eso que le costó tanto pedirle a Luffy que la ayudara, es por eso que sintió terror y "traicionó" a Luffy para volver a Arlong Park, es como si tuviera grilletes en las muñecas sin tenerlos realmente, por eso, sería bueno que se fijaran en los detalles, Nami solo comienza a confiar completamente en Luffy luego de Skypia, cuando él alza la voz y le dice que no debería mostrarse de esa forma tan patética siendo la nakama del futuro rey de los piratas, entregándole de nuevo su sombrero como en Arlong Park, eso muestra que Luffy tiene una gran inteligencia emocional, siendo capaz de regular las emociones de sus amigos, en ese caso con Nami, a través de su sombrero, que la hace sentir segura, lo mismo pasa con Sanji, que al escuchar las palabras de Luffy, que es su lugar seguro, siente esperanza, pero no es capaz de dejar ese miedo atrás.
Todos los Mugiwaras apoyan y son leales a Luffy, pero también hay que tomar contextos y personalidad, como en el caso de Ussop, ya que él desde el comienzo no aceptó a Luffy como su capitán, Ussop realmente quería ser capitán y veía a Luffy como solo un amigo, un igual, lo que no es malo, son Nakamas, pero también es su Capitán, solo cuando liberan a Robin y Luffy le pide a Ussop, con voz firme que queme la bandera, es que Ussop lo ve como su capitán. Ni que hablar de Robin, eso ni siquiera se debería considerar traición.
