Thought before we conclude the MK5’s we needed to buy an R32 and make it shoot flames
Maybe put a turbo on it? I know the vr6 can put out like 450 hp +
Byn can take about 500bhp, 450 ftlb without touching the gearbox. But shame it costs about 12/17k to do it properly.

I used to have one. Sounded immense, drank fuel like God knows what. Never really saw over 18MPG 😂 wasn't even that quick either but looked and sounded gorgeous.
Standard they were 6 secs flat. I remember the vxr astra,wrx did the same 0 to 60 so the golf r seemed disappointing. I know na,but still 3.2 6 cylinder
In its day it was quite fast obviously things change , and N/a not really tunable .

Don’t know about way Faster, you could argue R32 is a bit heavier with a 3.2litre V6 and the AWD drive train, I’d imagine there wouldn’t be a Lot between them.
It’s interesting how VW either lie about the BHP or their cars or seem to make very effective use of the proclaimed power. 🤔

Powerflex red insert in the dog bone mount makes a massive difference to the engine rocking! 30 quid, 10 min job
Imo the greatest golf ever made (or the mk4 R32 if thats what you prefer). Amazing sound, doesn't feel extremely fast but gives a lot to smile about and a decent 4wd system. Wicked purchase bro, would have one any day.

Super expensive when new in 2008 they were $60-$70k here down under. Depending on options. I only saw one Tornado Red R32. Dealer principles car at VW. It is a great project car. Look forward to your videos on it. Cheers.
I'm reasonably sure there are less than 10 Tornado Red R32s in Australia and one of them was written off a few weeks ago
My wife has had her silver mk5 r32 for over 10 years now. Its been the best car weve ever had, id say, overall. Reliable, quick enough and just huge fun to drive. It also has the added benefit that i get advance warning of her imminent arrival, which is always a good thing....
Agree with this....had a mk5 for 2 years and all it needed was a rear bulb and a wiper blade. Absolute solid as a rock, paint thicker than kim kardashian too.....

Have been watching all of your MK5 GTI videos this past week, very glad you have uploaded this! Keep up the good work
Nice one man. I have a MK5 R32 as well, same colour funnily enough and also manual. Had it for a year now and it's done 99k miles. When I first got it, it had some custom made exhaust which was probably as loud. Changed it for a Miltek resonated and it pretty much removes the droning you get while doing 70 on the motorway and it sounds very subtle when your cruising, but still makes a nice noise when you put the foot down.
So far, I have:
- ABS Pump refurbished
- All 6 coil packs replaced (One of the cylinders was misfiring)
- Both driver side and passenger side window regulator replaced (They both failed within a week of each other...fml)
- Rear bushings replaced
- 2 wheel bearings replaced
- Front disks + pads replaced
What still needs to be done mechanically:
- Flexi pipes need replacing
- Possible issue with the alternator, might need replacing
From a cosmetic point of view:
- The paint needs fixing up in a few areas. Driver side door corner has a bit of rust coming through and a few areas need touching up
- Alloys have been kerbed so bad, so might just get a new set of after market ones anyway as I'm not a massive fan of the factory alloys. I'll go with less spokes, but same size.
- A few minor interior issues like steering wheel leather worn in some places, drivers leather seat worn on the edge.
I would love to do a turbo or supercharger conversion, but the cost is a bit eye watering. As much as I love the R32, I'm not sure I could justify spending that much when I could get something else that would be more capable for as much/cheaper.

Get on some of the R32 owners clubs on Facebook, plenty of spare parts for sale, always people selling decats etc. Also worth looking into the Lucifer exhausts as they are pretty popular amongst the owners and far better value than Milltek.

I don’t know if you’ve done it with your other mk 5s, but check behind the front wheel arch liners as loads of crap gets trapped at the bottom of the front wing and in the sills and starts rusting from the inside.

New Years resolution for 2020 was to buy an MKV R32. They do not come up for sale often here in California. When they do they are quickly SOLD. With that being said, three days into 2020, number 531 of 5000 came up for sale at $13,000. Bought it.

Nice color for a change. 👍🏼 I bought my 2006 Volkswagen Golf 5 R32 with DSG at the beginning of this year, and I'm really pleased. It may not be the fastest car you can find in traffic (yet) , but Milltek’s non-res exhaust system puts a grin to my face every time I start the car, and especially when I floor the gas pedal. 😎

I have R32 for over a year now... such a special car, the character of that 3.2 vr6 engine is ridiculous, sound is so addictive..
Used to own one of these back in the days not super quick by modern day standards but more than enough.
5.5 seconds to 60mph and 4MOTION and it's a great long distance cruiser will cruise at 150mph all day and has bags of character.
No struggle on the engine at all.

The price of a R32 MK5 in Norway is around 20k pounds, the cheapest one for sale right now is 18k pounds. Prices for cars in general is suuuper high in norway. Sometimes i wish i lived in the UK :) Btw, love that u are back with videos, keep em coming :)

Love the R32 you bought . Bit of work and it will sing nicely. I love my R32 . Got a black 3 door with Cruize Blade alloys and black headliner, sunroof and full leather . It has a revo stage one tune putting out 276 BHP .Not a big difference but she pulls and pulls . Sweet car . Looking forward to the R32 content dude .😃👍

Do the flapper mod. All you need is a screw. Unplug the black tube that goes into the box in the exhaust then block the tube with the screw. Then listen to the crisp new noise 👌

Nice find especially for the price. I had a TR 5 door mk5 r32 on an 09 a few years ago and loved it, wasnt fast but was my first 'fast' car. Yours is defo 'recession' spec - VW struggled to sell these building up to and during the recession so a lot of mk5 r32s were sold with little to no options at all. I did the flapper mod on the exhaust, later put a miltek non res on it. Hated the drone and took it straight off, standard noise is perfect. Only issue i ever had was a leaking radiator..other than, perfect run around that sounds brilliant! Oh, and i changed the rubber to Michelin PS3's which transformed the car.. ps4's would be even better.
The noise of that compared to the speed/acceleration is hilarious 😂👍

Yes yes.. love my 32.. it’s the best golf they did imo much better than the GTI or ED30.i kno not as fast but the sound and build of the car is spot on. There not so slow as people make out to be also

There's a reason why its the cheapest...you will find out when you have it MOT'd. Looks like the Uxbridge road you were driving down. And get an RNS510 system to replace the bland radio or an Android entertainment system with Apple car play.

OMG you just gotta love that VR6 sound ❤️. My heart melts everytime I hear it 😭. I need one in my life. But here in Belgium, Netherlands & Germany they are more expensive, easily over 15k€ for a quality one.

I’d go nitrous with this, the engine will take a 100 shot easy (with a good kit, see WON)
Turbo/charged VR6’s are wonderful but so bloody expensive! Full nitrous set up should be about the same £ as a good quality exhaust, intake, remap....
350bhp should see the car go like a modern hot hatch plus they sound amazing
Will look into a nitrous set up, sounds like it could make for some good content! Forced induction definitely not on the cards with this particular 32
