Hello Newby family! Your new home build is very exciting to watch. BUT, as I have been around construction sites for 40 years & seen many deadly unwarranted accidents, it makes me very anxious to see the boys & Obie running around amongst the machinery & work site. Even though you are on the look out for them , accidents can happen very quickly, let alone the anxiety & extra stress put on the operator’s & the workers, already trying to concentrate on what their doing while looking out for the children & dog. Freaks me out……… that said with love & kindness, 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 I hope everything goes smoothly on the build, the weather stays good & all your dreams come to fruition. 🙏🙏❤️❤️ I have always watched your videos from the start & am so noticing how Sawyer looks exactly like Caruso did at that age. Hi Noeline. Thanks for sharing your concern, we touched on this in our recent newsletter. It’s only for a short time during the day and we always make sure it’s safe. Thank you for sharing your love and concern friend, it means so much to us ❤️❤️
@NoelineLeary - I have tried saying the exact same thing! Like you, with kindness, concern and love! It would drive me insane to have dogs, children or amateurs (we love you John) on a building site BUT John did explain in the last video, on Wednesday, that the builders allow a few minutes each day to let the the family, and Obi, have an inspection for the videos. Make sure your notification bell has been selected so you don't miss the midweek video!! Cheers to the Newbys and all Newby supporters!!

I am a retired Health and Safety consultant working in construction, whilst Tara and John are just the best parents and can see they want the boys to not be scared of situations and to learn what is safe and not organically, unfortunately human nature does at times mean that accidents happen. Having said that I took my H and S hat off a few years ago, so I didn’t like to raise this at risk of offending. Love this family want them safe xx

I would take it down and give the other tree the space to grow and thrive - your home is going to be beautiful and the area around it will be magical ❤
About 12-14 years ago, we had some truly frightening wild fires. After losing a huge number of homes, everyone began to jump on the bandwagon and clearing trees, brush, and wild grasses (mitigating) which contributes to feeding wild fires. You experienced something similar last year. On top of that, within the city itself, we are experiencing greater numbers of high wind types of storms which are uprooting 100-150 year old trees and some are landing on the homes they previously shaded. There is nothing like coming home from work to discover a 50 foot tree as wide as your car now sitting where your living room used to be. My point, long winded I know, is to say that trees are beautiful, but be safe in your home first.
The house looks amazing, and the rate your builders are cracking on with it looks like it'll be finished ahead of schedule! What an astonishing, positive transformation you've made to the land there. You two have worked so hard breathing new life into the farm in a relatively short space of time, you should be so proud. Thanks for sharing your amazing journey with us. ❤
The projects are so interesting and exciting to watch. Giving your favorite trees room to flourish, while clearing away less desirable trees and vegetation, seems like a good move. After the fires in your area last year, you want your vegetation as healthy as possible with less fuel for wildfire.
Thanks for the update. Your build is coming along nicely. You are very fortunate to have such patient builders allowing you access to the building site. Can't wait until Wednesday.
I'm loving your jumpers Tara. I nearly commented on the vlog when you were wearing the one with strawberries on, they are so lovely. Excited to hear about your books, i've said for a while you'd be brilliant at story telling, especially with all the fun and the adventures the boy's and Obi get into 🥰
I gasped at the sight of the hobbit house’s roof with how beautiful the flora has grown! I’d LOVE to see perhaps a little fairy garden with beautiful native 🌺s in front of the door of the hobbit house, it’d feel absolutely magical.
Great update and explanation about the layout of your house - thank you. Just lovely to see the hens again and some of the other parts of your home stead too. Such a lot is happening all at once, so good to take some time to relax at lunch time ❤
It is awesome to see you two smile so much. I am so very happy for you all. I know it is not easy for you both to manage everything in your very hustle, bustle lives at the moment, but you are both doing an absolutely fabulous job of it all.❤
I remember when you were so worried about never getting the permit to build. And the day happened. I'm so happy for you as a family.. Crusoe and Sawyer will have these memories all their lives. Obi is living his best life. What will you do when it's all done? I'm sure John's creative juices will flow. It's taking shape.
It was interesting to learn that you’re going to move the vineyard to the other terrace . I hope that means we’re going to get a little lesson in the future on what it means to grow grapes and the conditions they need. Great segment as always. Cheers!
Obi is always following Tara. So protective. Love the way he enjoys & sits on mound of sand. He was smart to get out of the water as it was freezing and barked at John to get out also. Best to keep trees far away from your home as they can destroy your home one way or another. Current California fires are frightening. Less trees the better. Which direction does your bay window & front door face? What John explained about water level in pipes is a revelation to measure the height. May be they did that in ancient times to build monuments, pyramids and the likes. Genius. Will your house be ready by Spring this year? Oh Tara did you go skinny dipping??🤣
Obi is in seventh heaven when a new load of sand gets delivered Mint Leaf! We would love it if the house is done by the Summer, let's see. I may or may not have gone skinny dipping 😂😂
Tara, you seem completely refreshed. And why not? In spite of your many responsibilities and the swirl of activity around you, your plans are brilliant, the major works are in the hands of trustworthy professionals, and your personal projects are rewarding. Drive on!
Hi favorite folks ,It's so exciting to see such progress yes so much excitement. Obie is such a funny dog.. And such beautiful views too.Just keep focusing on the goal amongst the exciting mess.❤ Beth
Great tour and explanation Tara! I have to say-one of my favorite parts is the staircase down to the bio-pool. It is simply stunning! I’m noticing a renewed spark in you guys over the last several weeks. I just love the way you are looking at each other with such 💕 love!!
My husband Paul studied forestry and is an arborist. He would recommend thinning of the trees for healthy growth of the trees you want to remain within view. He would also recommend removing large growth trees away from the new build for safety purposes. Trees are by nature a renewable resource. For every tree you cut down, replant elsewhere on the property 😊. Native species arboretum planning is best. Stay safe and warm and best wishes on your project developments.
We understand regarding the cork oaks...the same protected species protocol applies here in Canada. Designated specialists will assess requests for removal....safety and risk is taken into consideration.
Fantastic progress Newbys! I was thinking with the bio pool you will have a great reservoir on site. It might be an idea given your proximity to fires at certain times of the year it would be good to plan a fire protection system (generator, pump and large dia hose) stored nearby so you could use the water should it ever be necessary.
❤ Cutting down the trees close to the cork oak will allow it to thrive. You certainly have the opportunity and space to plant more trees elsewhere on the farm. I loved the update about the house. ❤ 😘😍 Diving in the river! fantastic! what courage! 👍
Happy new year. Loved the Morocco video. So beautiful. Thank you for the walk through. I’m sure I speak for thousands of others when I say how excited we are for you and this house building journey.

Hiya Newbys ! Soooo exciting to see the house progress, my goodness it’s moving fast . Your holiday has brought you all back refreshed. I’m sure you will be planting others in the future. Thankyou so much for sharing, sending much love to you all xxxxx❤️💙💙💙
Good day Tara and John. Tara, I have to say that I’ve really loved the sweaters/ jumpers that you have been wearing. I know you said they were old ones, picked up, I think, at a second hand shop, but they are such nice color combos and look so pretty on you. Way too many dark colors are worn anymore in this world and your lovely spots of color are welcome. You look young and pretty and cheerful. Can’t beat THAT now can you?!
Happy Sunday Newby family, we see each other more often lately, Tara, you and John are great comedians, hurt my finger was clue to us you wanted John to finish the work, great so in tune with each other perfect marriage. Tara, your update at the start was great - I've never grasped building/tech terminology so your descriptions were ideal for me, so thank you 🤗 It seems like we are all having a very busy start to 2025, although, as mine is not worth filming, I suspect it is far less exciting than yours, but it does mean that I'm settling in for the next couple of hours to catch up on 5 videos across your channels, and that's not too shabby a way to spend my afternoon 📺☕😃 *Hugs * to you all! xx
I’d follow the experts advise. Well that was easy. You never want to regret not taking Claudio’s advise. It’s just going to be Devine. Keep the kids safe and of course Obi. 🐾 Enjoy every moment.
Hi Tara and John, you guys always make me smile. About the trees, you also don’t want the roots of the trees near your foundation. Loved this episode, can’t wait for the next episode. Btw Tara, about 9 months ago I got a shed for my birthday, and after painting the inside white, it was all Black, we visited IKEA and kitted her out. She is now my craft shed. I have been drawing and have been, trying my hand at painting. I hear yr voices say Be brave when I think I can’t do something. So thank you And see you on Wednesday. ❤️❤️💕💕 At
The principle of communicating vessels of Pascal. It states that in connected containers filled with a homogeneous fluid, the liquid will always settle at the same level... A great experiment to do with your kids... ❤❤❤ I don't want to be a professor... but I love the way you are learning from each other and the kids... there are so many beautiful experiments online that make a lot of things clear... and it is also for kids... you are adorable... (I find John still more beautiful with his ponytail.. but I don't have to look at it 😂, you have Tara... ❤)
Thank you so much for your guidance to Milanote. I will be doing my moodboatd this week and will show you Tara. I feel the same about trees, yet doing it now makes sense to clear up the space so the cork tree can shine 😊❤
Yes please do share it with us Louise, we would love to see! Thanks for the support friend, we know you are going to love Milanote as much as we do ❤️❤️
The build is coming along great! I have to say, Tara, you and John make a great team, and it was very clever of you switching jobs 😉! Missed seeing the boys today 😏, see you lovely people on Wednesday, much love from Michigan ❤❤❤❤
Christine here, I am just amazed at everything that you have going on at once! Wonderful advice about the trees, I can just imagine the fun John will have using up the wood! Hugs xx
Wow....very exciting seeing how much has been achieved . I would remove the tree, allow the cork oak to show it's full potential. Tara, love your humour and smile when 'taking over the editing'. You guys rock. Love the energy and look forward to seeing the bio pool . ❤
I am watching your video and I know how frustrated it can be when things have to stop but I wish we could get a pour of rain like you have. We have no rain here in California.
I remembered what Claudio said as there were a lot of trees he suggested come down, I know for the health of trees it has to be done, but still sad. I know those concrete pillars serve a purpose but I’m personally glad they are coming down. As usual lots going on but the vineyard area will be great x
Claudio is totally correct with the high winds you do not want the risk of fallen trees land on your home but also the roots if too close do damage footings and concrete below the ground , I also agree it would be beneficial to remove one tree to be able to see the beauty of the cork tree , I hate the thought of the cork tops in wine bottle now being replaced with plastic I much prefer natural. Everything seems to be coming along nicely and i had to laugh at obe digging away in the sand he has a wonderful life with you and all the land, the boys , the chickens and all the people making a fuss of him now and again lucky dog. Oh Tara that was crafty you left John rather a lot to sort out ! I thought you had at least removed and folded the wire up , I bet you soon got warm. 😊
Tara you wanted a pre historic house so you get pre historic water in the pipe lazer 😊 but am sure they will do a fantastic job 😊i missed seeing the babies today, kisses to them from Nairobi 🥰🥰🥰
Happy Sunday Newbys!! The house is starting to look fabulous! I’m starting to get my bearings with the plan! Re the oak, yes, I think take it down and let that cork have all the nutrients there. You can definitely look to put other trees back elsewhere on the farm later on. Tara I did laugh at you taking over the edit and getting John to do the job with the wires 😂 You both are so good together and there was no issue from John refocusing and cracking on outside! True Teamwork! John took one for the team today! Well done John! Sorry you got hurt though Tara x
The house is coming along nicely Caroline. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the trees. Will see what we decide on. John did do the job a lot quicker than what I would’ve 😉😂
Hi John and Tara…..gosh what a great big update that was! It’s all go for you guys isn’t it! Great to be able to follow along. Best wishes and ❤ to all Julie 😊
I would definitely do anything Claudio advises to save that cork tree. He knows! And in time to come, you can (and will) grow trees that YOU want, rather than self sown weedy trees that don’t grow well because they don’t have the correct space.
No wonder you felt tired, Tara - all that explanation of the site works... I felt pretty exhausted myself on the hundredth repetition of "cement"! 😂😂 (Yes I know, it's a work in progress!) About the trees, I'd concur with others who've said 'take it down to provide better conditions for the cork oak' - all gardening and landscaping is a process of editing and selection after all. But I'd also follow the general mantra of planting several young trees for each tree harvested (perhaps on the new land when you take possession?)
That was very interesting to hear the plans with the house and it sounds marvelous Tara. You do to John exactly what I do with my husband - i get him to do the hard labor and I do the editing and organizing...LOL It works well for both of us. I can't wait to see when it all is done!♦

I enjoy an occasional office shot with a very early project behind you. From a couple of bottle lamps to a medium- sized then a giant House!! 🏠 🧡 🍇
I got so excited to hear from you about all your thoughts and ideas! It will be incredible!!
Omgosh that concrete porer is amazing! I would take down the other oak. Toby is having a hayday in the sand❤.
Your Beautiful Home and your Property is going to be Magical and Amazing!!!
I'm soooooo Excited for you and your Family!!!!
Wow! So much beautiful progress! I cannot believe how fast the boys are growing! ❤
I had to come back and say the "Human Fur" bit totally had me rolling! The edit was spot on😂❤
So glad it could make you smile 😂😂
Such a interesting episode, learning about the build. You both look very happy.
Tara, your update at the start was great - I've never grasped building/tech terminology so your descriptions were ideal for me, so thank you 🤗
It seems like we are all having a very busy start to 2025, although, as mine is not worth filming, I suspect it is far less exciting than yours, but it does mean that I'm settling in for the next couple of hours to catch up on 5 videos across your channels, and that's not too shabby a way to spend my afternoon 📺☕😃
*Hugs * to you all! xx
I’d follow the experts advise. Well that was easy. You never want to regret not taking Claudio’s advise. It’s just going to be Devine.
Keep the kids safe and of course Obi. 🐾 Enjoy every moment.
We do trust Claudio and his advice for us, will see. Thanks so much friend 😁🏡🇵🇹❤️
Hi Tara and John, you guys always make me smile. About the trees, you also don’t want the roots of the trees near your foundation. Loved this episode, can’t wait for the next episode.
Btw Tara, about 9 months ago I got a shed for my birthday, and after painting the inside white, it was all
Black, we visited IKEA and kitted her out. She is now my craft shed. I have been drawing and have been, trying my hand at painting. I hear yr voices say Be brave when I think I can’t do something. So thank you
And see you on Wednesday. ❤️❤️💕💕
At
Hi Dalia, thanks for sharing your suggestion with us. Your craft shed sounds amazing! ❤️❤️
It's okay to cut it down and have a glorious protected tree to enjoy! You know John will have a fabulous idea for using that downed oak!
There is so much going on and you have a talent to explain it all without confusing the viewers. It’s exciting to see all the progress!
Thanks friend
Amazing time spend on vacation with your family . Teaching them so Manny different couturiers
Tara an excellent tour update 👍 I’m looking forward to watching Mario create the bio pool 😊❤️
Love that you have a beautiful swim hole so close and convenient.
The water level they were showing you is very like what we do in hospital nursing management of post op chest drains!
So exciting!!! Thanks for the catch up on plans; so much to do 🎉🎉🎉
The principle of communicating vessels of Pascal. It states that in connected containers filled with a homogeneous fluid, the liquid will always settle at the same level...
So you always know what level is... you just need 2 recipients that are connected.
Thanks for the support friend, we know you are going to love Milanote as much as we do ❤️❤️
Wow the house 🏡 looks beautiful can’t wait 🏡🫂🥰
The build is coming along great! I have to say, Tara, you and John make a great team, and it was very clever of you switching jobs 😉! Missed seeing the boys today 😏, see you lovely people on Wednesday, much love from Michigan ❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much friend. Team work makes the dream (and marriage) work 😂❤️
Love the way your two banter together😍
Now you explained the layout,i will be looking forward for videos of the construction
So exciting!!❤❤❤

Excellent episode John and Tara.... I'm absolutely riveted... I look forward to every step...
Thanks Karen!
What a view from the veranda
Spectacular isn't it Trish!
Christine here, I am just amazed at everything that you have going on at once! Wonderful advice about the trees, I can just imagine the fun John will have using up the wood! Hugs xx
John can’t wait to get creative with all the wood Christine 😁🙏🏼
Great update info! Thx
Thanks so much for watching Louise 🏗️🏡😁🙌🏼
Wow....very exciting seeing how much has been achieved . I would remove the tree, allow the cork oak to show it's full potential.
Tara, love your humour and smile when 'taking over the editing'.
You guys rock. Love the energy and look forward to seeing the bio pool .
❤
Just watched it for the 2nd time. Love to you both and great to see how things are developing and so quickly. Love to you all.
❤️❤️❤️❤️ mega moves on the build today!!
I am watching your video and I know how frustrated it can be when things have to stop but I wish we could get a pour of rain like you have. We have no rain here in California.
Exciting❤❤
So very exciting Trish
Such exciting updates! Thanks again for sharing!!
So glad you enjoyed it Kate. Thanks so much for watching 🏗️🏡😁🙌🏼
Your home is going to be so beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️
I remembered what Claudio said as there were a lot of trees he suggested come down, I know for the health of trees it has to be done, but still sad. I know those concrete pillars serve a purpose but I’m personally glad they are coming down. As usual lots going on but the vineyard area will be great x
Another amazing post😊
We do trust Claudio and his judgement Caroline. Thanks for sharing your thoughts too ❤️🙏🏼
Nothing like a nice cold swim over lunch. Forget it, I'm with Tara. Progress is good.
Both of us jumped in Richard, believe it or not I got in too 😂😂
So exciting to see the huge changes on your property. See you next Wednesday. The hobbit house is so magical. Just like John said it would be.❤️🇨🇦
Thanks for the support Dawn, the hobbit house is amazing. We love how it turned out!
Tara you wanted a pre historic house so you get pre historic water in the pipe lazer 😊 but am sure they will do a fantastic job 😊i missed seeing the babies today, kisses to them from Nairobi 🥰🥰🥰
Love it Michelle 😂🏗️🏡🙌🏼
@@TheNewbys 🥰🥰🥰 it's gonna be a beautiful house ❤️
Have a wonderful day! ❤
Happy Sunday Newbys!! The house is starting to look fabulous! I’m starting to get my bearings with the plan!
Re the oak, yes, I think take it down and let that cork have all the nutrients there. You can definitely look to put other trees back elsewhere on the farm later on.
Tara I did laugh at you taking over the edit and getting John to do the job with the wires 😂
You both are so good together and there was no issue from John refocusing and cracking on outside! True Teamwork! John took one for the team today! Well done John! Sorry you got hurt though Tara x
The house is coming along nicely Caroline. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the trees. Will see what we decide on. John did do the job a lot quicker than what I would’ve 😉😂
Some coving to the inside corners of the bio pool before the liner goes will prevent the liner from failing.
Hi John and Tara…..gosh what a great big update that was! It’s all go for you guys isn’t it! Great to be able to follow along. Best wishes and ❤ to all Julie 😊
So glad you loved the update Julie. Thanks for being here 🏗️🏡😁🙌🏼
The water level was the only way to work in the past , my father in law was a builder and he only used that system...(50 years ago)
That is incredible! So so interesting Rudy 🏗️🏡😁🙌🏼
The build is moving so fast…I could hardly keep up! Really interesting to see the underlining structures alongside the visualisations etc!
We never expected it to go this fast Hilary! We are so excited 🏗️🏡😁🙌🏼
I would definitely do anything Claudio advises to save that cork tree. He knows! And in time to come, you can (and will) grow trees that YOU want, rather than self sown weedy trees that don’t grow well because they don’t have the correct space.
Claudio does know best Madeleine 🙏🏼
I am so excited for you about the build, with regards to the tree I would take it down and give the other tree room to thrive ❤
Thanks Faith. We do trust Claudio and his judgement too 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Oh My Goodness, TARA, you are looking 👀 so so good. Well done you.(Can an American say that?)
Thank you so much Robert, that is so kind of you to say!
No wonder you felt tired, Tara - all that explanation of the site works... I felt pretty exhausted myself on the hundredth repetition of "cement"! 😂😂 (Yes I know, it's a work in progress!)
About the trees, I'd concur with others who've said 'take it down to provide better conditions for the cork oak' - all gardening and landscaping is a process of editing and selection after all. But I'd also follow the general mantra of planting several young trees for each tree harvested (perhaps on the new land when you take possession?)
So much to share with you Anthony 😂 we trust Claudio and his opinion so let’s see what happens 🙏🏼
That was very interesting to hear the plans with the house and it sounds marvelous Tara. You do to John exactly what I do with my husband - i get him to do the hard labor and I do the editing and organizing...LOL It works well for both of us. I can't wait to see when it all is done!♦
So glad to hear you loved the update Anne! John did finish that job a lot quicker than what I would’ve 😂😂
