The text of the carol:
Strange news: Now the Virgin has given birth to a Son.
Gave birth in Bethlehem, Mary the only! | (2)
Not in the royal chamber, but among the cattle,
In the wilderness, in a shepherd's cottage, that should be known to all. | (2)
That this is the Virgin Mary of God
Who gives birth and asks Him questions as a bride. | (2)
She holds Him in her arms and sings songs,
And calls Him Almighty Creator. | (2)
She said: "Lullaby, Son, I obey you,
For you have chosen me as your only mother!" | (2)
"Oh, unnameable, oh, incomprehensible,
Sleep long, grow soon, blessed child!" | (2)
"I cherish my hope in you, my son:
Wherever you are, you will take me, you are my Lord." | (2)
"Tell me, O Justice, where will any of the faithful be?
Let all men stand with me before You." (2)
"To pray to You and to ask You,
That you may give us in your kingdom
To live forever and ever" (2)
