I couldn't recommand more the Schubert Revisited from Matthias and the Deutsche Kammerphilarmonie Bremen. This recording is great but the revisited is, IMHO, out of this world.
You're absolutely right. I was lucky enough to listen to them in concert under the baton of Manfred Honeck. It was stunning and so full of colours, unforgettable
How better this world would be if Franz Schubert lived longer... But alas, the world is too cruel to allow something like that. So many horrible people roamed this planet and lived well into old age, but an honest romantic like Schubert dies at 31.
