A Ukrainian government body has revealed Vladimir Putin’s potential successor, hinting that the Russian elite have hatched a plan to remove the President.
That's not something you announce. So this is probably just a way to increase Russian government anxieties over Putin and will make Putin more aggressive due to paranoia.
I agree that it’s likely just disinformation too (but I wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t). Keep in mind, they also made an announcement maybe 2 weeks ago about getting Intel from a high level member of the FSB. That announcement was made before we heard about the two FSB guys on house arrest and Putin’s alleged purge of people close to him. Curious to see how this one will play out.
I would love to see a "normal" Russia, one without a dictatorship & kleptocracy and with a functioning democracy, a free press & freedom of speech. A country that doesn't consider every other country on the planet an enemy.
I think that this is not possible for the next hundred years. Russia is in a serious historical time gap, Russia behaves like in Middle Age because that it is its level of development, historically speaking.

What lends credence to this, in my mind, is that several Russian expat oligarchs have openly called for a regime change in Russia (the "midges" Putin said he would spit out). How much more desperate would those remaining in Russia be. The motivation is certainly there. The longer this invasion drags on, the more Putin will dig in and the less patient will be the strong men around him.

Other than that, Ukraine is an independent nation that will not join NATO. It can still join the EU though and have close relations with the West. This can include US and UK training and weapons.

What lends credence to this, in my mind, is that several Russian expat oligarchs have openly called for a regime change in Russia (the "midges" Putin said he would spit out). How much more desperate would those remaining in Russia be. The motivation is certainly there. The longer this invasion drags on, the more Putin will dig in and the less patient will be the strong men around him.

Other than that, Ukraine is an independent nation that will not join NATO. It can still join the EU though and have close relations with the West. This can include US and UK training and weapons.
So if all this is true, why would the Ukrainian intelligence agency disclose this information? It doesn’t seem like releasing it will speed up the process. If anything it puts those plans in jeopardy of being derailed now that it’s public knowledge.

I don't know much about politics, but I can agree with you on this. Intelligence agencies are smart enough to NEVER make their classified plans available to the public. I do think, however, that some people are planning to withdraw putin from power, but the steps necessary to do so will Not be publically known and spread. Mr. Bortnikov, I have been a student of Russia's security services since the time of The Cheka and all the way up to The FSB, SVR, and GRU. In fact, I once almost started a computer company with an ex-KGB Colonel and his son here in The US and someone you may know of. I know there are sane minds there who have no desire to see this conflict get any worse. Just people like the rest of us here in the world who desire peace and safe clean communities to raise their families in. The cold war is dead, as well as the terror tactics of the former KGB, so why allow someone who's a byproduct to bring the world to the brink of war?. The bottom line here is we in the west have no desire to threaten and conquer Russia, only see your beautiful country joined with the rest of the free world so everyone can live in peace and prosperity. In other words, instead of ruling with an iron fist, try leading with gentle hands, because, in the long run, Russia's people will be forever grateful for it, and the rest of us can breathe a sigh of relief. Try imagining a Europe where there is no need for NATO because all countries there live in peace and harmony, and everyone can rest easy at night in the safety of their homes. At present this may sound like an impossibility, but where there's a will, there's away, and you have the power in your hands to put Putin down and end this conflict with Ukraine. There have been many times in history where a person could continue on their path to power or gain more power then they have already but in their good faith or good will they decide not to. I.E George Washington could have continued to be President but decided to step down and let another pave the way as he thought it would be too much like the King of England.
