every time I see a 69 dodge dart, I always look at the video. I'm trying to find the 69 dart gt-s that my dad and I built/restored in the early 80s in Modesto California. this car is a slant 6, and therefore clearly a base model, and not the gt-s. but I had to look anyway...lol in Modesto at the time(1980-83) the other street racers dubbed it "the sling shot" we never got beat off the line(on the street). we were turning 10.3@137mph on the street tires. it was full interior, daily driver. 340/727. the engine made approximately 625-650hp. we eventually put on a low profile dual 4 bbl intake(Offenhauser) we chose the low profile intake to keep the carbs under the hood. when you're trying to take people's money, if they see carbs sticking thru the hood. they were not likely to race. not for money anyway. I've got a couple of pictures of the car and engine(on my google+), but sadly we don't have any with the dual 4's, just the single. it looked good though. very clean, radiator tanks were polished. many long hours!

Needs a torque monster a nicely done 440 would be awesome in this dart I’m into big block a. Body’s nothing finer but a nice 340 with some x heads of Indy or even edelbrock would do the trip to with a suregrip 391 in it add a tall tire move springs in. To get a little more tire under ther love abodys hope your ride is comming good I guess you got a 360 can make same as 340

My body as a 69 340 swinger we had a shit load of world times in that car I had a 67 formulas 383 barracuda dam I mist that car at the time then it went unfortunately but I started building a 72 dart swinger with a 440 had already to put back together but forced to sell now I’m 61 and broke would love to find a cheap 70s 70 to 72 dart for a big block build maybe I’m to old but would sure love one to find a project ready to put back together good luck hope you have your car done

An a body like this barely tipped the scales at 3k lbs......with a 450hp small block, and proper soft street tires, they'll smoke new mustang GT's and camaro super slows all day long......to 110ish mph. Lol

Wrong way to install that quarter. Car looks good though.

The pass frnt fndr seam was too wide and the trunk fitting was awkward. Shadetree build clone saves a base Dart from the crusher.
