- Johanna Mazibuko who was born on 11 May 1894 has lived an extraordinarily long life spanning through the late 19th century, the entire 20th century, and the beginnings of the 21st century. While her story is of an ordinary farm girl blessed with long life, our reporter Sentleeng Lehihi and video Journalist Jabu oa-Afrika spent a day with her to hear more about her life after living through two world wars, the end of Apartheid, and the dawn of democracy as well as two global pandemics.

This lady is a living legend, she has been living close to 13 decades now is so rare for people to reach that age. I just can't believe she already hit 104 when I've escaped from my mother's womb.

That's what happens when you live off home grown Veggies, organic "Homegrown" chicken with consuming all these Chemicals in the food we now eat in the cities!!! This is actually a valid question.
Its amazing that she has lived this long, more life to her. But the title is misleading. If you were to have someone who was out there in the world and experienced South Africa and its historical events at first hand then this would've been interesting. Or if you had let her share her personal lived experiences and how she has managed to age gracefully. Instead you gave us a brief history that she wasn't even aware of. Her life was basically in one place and she wasn't even aware of the occurrences that were taking place in her lifetime. Hence exposing poor journalism and waste of state resources.

Like in 80's horror movies, there is apparently a tree elixir. But like the guy that claimed to live 500 years, he was herbalist, martial arts etc. It is plausible that if you don't move with 2 million dollars, without stress, and some elixir, it might work.

I don’t think the old lady knows her age. There must be some mistake here. Most of them couldn’t write and read and the things she is talking about are not so old. At least she must talk about the era before First World War. I heard the commentator speak about 2018 Spanish flu but the old lady speak about covit19. If this is correct then she must go into book of records as the longest person ever alive and after her passing should be ever lived. The longest record of the person lived longest was 122.

How could she have known about anything that happened in the apartheid era, when the law did not allow people that looked like her to to be educated, yes she was illiterate because that's what the government wanted, blacks must live in oblivion by not being properly educated, so yes she knew nothing about anything only because she was not permitted by law to know what was happening.

Rubbish, she was not registered when she was born. Her mom and dad had her at Home affairs age 20 to register.
She was 26 is grade 1.
