Love to see your faves. We seem to like similar books. I love classic fantasy and am sometimes enjoying sci fit too. Also really love middle grade books. I'm terrible with names so not sure which authors I enjoyed but I love sci fi alla Star Trek or Stargate with fun space ships, interesting aliens and adventures...not much into the more pseudo scientific or too speculative side. I think it was Stephen Baxter that traumatised me with his "explanations" and rather confused ideas about evolution and genetics 😅 I'm interested to read some cosy mysteries as well. I'm just very much trying to avoid smut and whatever publishers think romance is nowadays

Julie Anne Lindsey is also Bree Baker. Her Seaside Cafe series reminds me so much of the Cider Shop series, but make it beachy and summery.
She is also Jacqueline Frost which she has The Christmas Tree Farm series which is my favorite Christmas series. We share many of the same favorites. The Hobbit is definitely one of mine as well. I love the Great Illustrated Classics 💖💖💖

I love your choices. I'm glad to find someone else who loves the Pern series. It deserves more recognition. When you said creature features I immediately thought about Devolution.

Yay! A fellow first book of the series lover. Not everyone likes them as much. They just make me happy. I hope you find a gem you love! 😊⭐️

Have you read A Fellowship of Bakers and Magic? This one is a cozy read. The found family and the friendships have me thinking of this book often. The romance was meh for me but the other relationships were so sweet and interesting. This and Spell shop are my top cozy reads this last year.

The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe is essential Winter reading. Since you like portal fantasy and the Murderbot novellas, I highly recommend The Weyward Children fantasy novella series by Seanan McGuire. The tenth one is coming out in a few days. The writing is beautiful, and they're short so you can binge them easily. 😊

Seanan McGuire writes as Mira Grant, fyi.

Ooo thank you! I loved Mira Grant's writing and I didn't know she wrote under a different name. I will check it out!! I love the entire Narnia series so much. I really hope to read them to my little ones too. 😊❤️

Your love of fantasy follows my own path. I was obsessed with the Narnia books as a child and would read them over and over and over again. I read LOTR at age 13 when the box set first came out in the early 70's and then in my late teens I began reading Anne McCaffrey's dragon books. That took me into fantasy becoming my favourite genre. David Eddings, Kathrine Kurtz, Raymond Feist and on to my favourite fantasy author Jacqueline Carey and her Kushiel's Dart series.

I love the dragon riders of Pern, some of the first science fiction I read. I've never been able to read Tolkein all the way through--I can open it randomly and happily read to the end, but somehow I just can't get through the first parts.

Hi Kyra, it's Liz! I've been having fun catching up with you through your videos :) I'm ashamed to admit I still haven't read the Lord of the Rings books yet, although I re-watch the movies with my husband every year! Maybe I'll try to prioritize reading them for 2025 😅
My favorite books right now are any of the book in the Realm of the Elderling series by Robin Hobb! They're definitely very dense books, but Hobb's character work is just fantastic. I'm only 5 books into the series so far though, and I think there are 16 books in total so I still have a lot to go!
I also really love the Strange the Dreamer duology by Laini Taylor. It was a bit of a booktube darling a few years ago but I don't really hear many ppl talk about it much anymore. I still absolutely love it though - it has very lyrical writing, wonderful worldbuilding, and I just love the way the story weaves together.

Hi Liz!! Thank you so much for watching! I have the first in the Farseer Trilogy so I really need to bump them up on my TBR. I’ve heard they are amazing to read ❤️ I’ve heard of Strange the Dreamer too but don’t know much about it. I’ll have to check it out 😊😊

Seeing your favorite book in seventh grade be The Hobbit makes my Fear Street RL Stine series seem so... immature 😅 In my defense, I was still learning English 😉

Fear Street is great! I still read them sometimes too! 😊 And no defense needed. That's great! I lived in my library and stumbled on it and the rest was history haha

I have found that Enders Game is the superior book but Enders Shadow is the superior series. If you’ve never read it, you really should. It delves into everything you wished the Enders Game series did.

It’s been such a long time since I’ve read the rest of the series. So I’ll have to check it out. Any excuse to read the series from the beginning is great in my book haha
