If Hasbro does a Re-issue of the Cybertron figures, I’m getting Cybertron Prime. I feel like Galaxy Upgrade Optimus Prime was the Appetizer before the main course.
Captain Sinclair I think the Earthrise or Siege Hound apparently teases Hot Shot’s Cybertron Patrol (gis armored truck mode from later in the series) apparently? There’s a chance.
that would be amazing, I feel like the cybertron toyline was peak character and toy design in terms of transformers toyline though that might be the nostalgia talking
When the siege cybertron announced i was so happy since i can’t get my hands on the old leader cybertron, but man the old one was so much better, more ratchet joints, no fake cab, more robust plastics, no fake wheel, easily go for the old one if you can hunt em down
I'm lucky enough to have one from my childhood when it first came out. All he's missing is his pistol and the missiles. I wanna get the siege version to have em duke it out and compare them. Also cuz it looks cool as hell

Just wanted to point out that the torso on prime slides further forward for vehicle mode. It has an audible click into the right position, and then the arms will fit better too
Wasn't sure if I was gonna get the new Cybertron Optimus but I'm pretty tempted if I can find it. It's kinda interesting that in the new IDW comic continuity they are using the design of the non-armored Seige version as the design for Orion Pax.
Not sure the origin of the Galaxy Upgrade Prime but I love the influences I see in it. Seemed like a generational upgrade all around creating its own identity.
Maybe the original Cybertron/Galaxy Force Optimus had all those inspirations, but the Siege Galaxy Upgrade is just straight up inspired by the G1 Prime toy and the Cybertron Leader I compare it with.
Optimal Optimus was my childhood Optimus. I love that they remade some of the old versions of Optimus. I kind of wish I had the money for this Optimus. Cybertron Optimus is pretty cool.

I was away from transformers from g2 till prime wars so I missed EVERYTHING in between. When the Siege one came out I didn't know what it was and passed him up. A couple years later I saw one on clearance at Target (when Kingdom was starting.. Maybe he was under a shelf all that time, lol) this was a cool comparison to watch
I never had the original figure of Cybertron Optimus Prime since I was introduced to the Transformers brand when the 2007 live action movie came but when the leader class galaxy upgrade Optimus Prime came out I couldn’t resist the urge to buy him since I love the Unicron Trilogy and awhile back I bought the trilogy on dvd.

It's nice to see others use their Primes. My 2005 Cybertron prime model is still sitting pretty, sealed in it's box since purchase. I'm so tempted to break it open and have a play lol. 👍
I would love a cybertron Optimus Prime keep kit thats stylized and uses the head design from the write that head design is SICK! I never had cybertron Optimus prime as a kid and would love one just to have on a shelf, by far my favorite Optimus prime design of the unicron trilogy and the cartoons!
I love being able to find these videos and see just how many people i can relate to when i say that this figure was a big part of my childhood. Unfortunately i lost mine years ago and am trying to find a new one.
The cab of the Siege truck CAN slide forward from where you have it... but I'm undecided on whether or not it looks better with the cab back, because it almost creates the impression that the 'fists' are bigger that way.
I love the siege one. Honestly I don't mind the cab because I'm just thinking, it's on Cybertron, there's no need for a disguise, but also, the cab can fit two titan masters inside. So you can basically have a little Optimus Prime mech
Yeah they've definitely shrunken the Transformers classes. It started becoming really noticeable with the Fall of Cybertron deluxe figures when the second game came out.
I actually still have the old Cybertron Prime, lost the a few parts(fortunately I didn’t lose the main parts), and Red Alert(preCybertron Defense team)
I have the black version, but it was a hand-me down, so I don't have the heels for supermode, his gun or key. So a very incomplete set, but I still love it.
I think this is definitely one of the examples where the old one obliterates the new one, but that's not to say that the new one is bad by any means, it's actually really cool and good, it's just that..... well it's cybertron optimus prime, one of the greatest Transformers ever made.
BEYOND FANTASTIC REVIEW JCC2224!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cybertron Optimus Prime is my favorite version of him from the Unicron Trilogy and the new Siege Leader Class toy is an amazing update. :D Thank you for comparing the two toys with each other, since I have not seen this yet with any other review. :D Keep up the outstanding work you do, Double Thumb's Up. ;D
I will day, comparing them as 2 leaders seems a touch unfair to me. Modern leaders seem more like Cybertron ultras like Jetfire to me. The old leaders seem more comparable to the WFC trilogy commander classes
Tracked the original down and it is by far, the best optimus. The removable face plate, the height, the play features. Its just a pure, fun toy for play and collecting (yes I played with this, I've wanted this guy since I was a child). Siege one is good, but the original just knocks it out of the park. Its exactly how I think optimus should be
Cybertron Prime is in every way that matters, like some kind of hybrid of Star Convoy and Powermaster Optimus Prime/Super Ginrai And even manages to work in the Fire Truck alt mode of Car Robots.
I wish I got my hands of either of these. There is a friggin' 16 to 2 years release of both of them, so of course they are now expensive on the aftermarket.
Thanks for the comprehensive comparison. I really like both toys but both are selling for very high prices (well beyond RRP etc even loose). I was a fool for not picking up the old hasbro leader optimus a few years back for a boxed price that is now the loose price (eg nothing under $150 AUD)
Honestly, I don't remember much about Transformers Cybertron. I remember the premise about the old Cyberplanet keys and I do remember loving Optimus Prime's Super mode and vehicle mode. I never got the toy, I had Primus (and a sleek green and black Autobot that looked like WheelJack), but not Optimus Prime. I think I had a friend who owned the figure, because I remember transforming it with my own hands (and yes it was fun without the Instructions). So when I saw Siege Galaxy Upgrade Optimus Prime, I had to buy it. Is it as good as the original... not really. But to give credit where credit is due, they did more than just retool Ultra Magnus, the entire backpack assembly is full of new molds, and works a bit differently. As someone who doesn't own the original Cybertron Optimus Prime, I like that they at least made an effort to represent Transformers Cybertron. They didn't have to Remake this guy in a different toy line, but they did.
Honestly wouldn't mind seeing Galaxy Upgrade Prime get another release in Legacy. It'd fit in pretty much perfectly with the theme of the line and I missed out on the original Siege release so.
Well, we are getting Armada characters so it might not be so far of a thought that we may get Energon and Cybertron characters. I would love to see a Tidelwave, Demolisher and Sideways in Legacy.
I still have my Cybertron Leader Prime as well. I haven't bothered getting the Siege Galaxy Upgrade Prime (yet) because I'm waiting for the price to go down!
I LOVE Transformers Cybetron. I watched it as a kid. But back then I can’t get the original toy because it’s really hard to find in third world country But I can get the Siege Galaxy Convoy now, I’m happy Armada trilogy got some attention from Hasbro. And it’s a good representation of my childhood. Kinda wish it came with the other as well like Leobreaker, but it’s a good toy nonetheless.
The transformation seemed harder for the galaxy upgrade because it was your first time sure you hadn’t transformed the original cybertron figure in some time but there is a difference.
cybertron optimus was the best transformers toy PERIOD. 3 modes and the final mode was bad ass, also leader class was $40 back in the day now its $60 - $70, for price inflation they should be 53, WHERE THE OTHER 7 FROM
The backpack on the normal robot mode for Siege Optimus looks a lot less ugly if you put the grill part of the truck mode on it (aka the arm guards for the super mode). Still not perfect (really shouldn't have a backpack at all but whaddya do), but definitely an aesthetic improvement.
Pretty good Optimus Prime impression just a tip from a fanbase representative less Bayverse more real Optimus Prime. Because that's the Optimus Prime us real mofo's know and love. Not the murderous Fakeimus Prime the bayverse keeps trying to pass off as the true Autobot Commander.
I'd stick with Cybertron one. Here's couple of reasons why: 1. He's a huge toy 2. He's in scale with other Cybertron transformers (like with Deluxe HotShot) 3. He isn't a parts-former (update: Ok, he IS a parts-former when it comes to super-mode. Read comment below, why I'm ok with that) 4. Little gimmicks that don't deal much, but add nice touch 5. Transformation and Super Mode are animation-accurate 6. Transformation is simple - which is REALLY Important for a toy. I hate modern transformers that have 100 steps transformations. 7. Toy in the video is in really bad shape - wings are floppy and nothing holds still. Brand new toys and toys in good condition are sturdy 8. You can combine it with two lion transformers AND Vector Prime simultaneously while keeping super-mode. End result is a brick that has issues with standing due to his knees. But considering how much whole toy weights at that moment, experience was amazing. 9. He's not another G1 toy. I love G1 but Hasbro just wants to make more and more G1 variants and not something new. That Optimus Design and transformation looks different and actually while kinda familiar, still fresh 10. No backpack. I mean, yes, he has a backpack in Super-Mode, but that is extra and makes sense (that's a jetpack and lots of guns) 11. His guns are not hollow shells 12. He looks like he costs the price hasbro was asking for it (he was what, around $70 on release?), Siege one I just don't feel that price in it. There's probably more to that but as a toy I would give original solid 10/10 - he did everything you could ask from it and even more if you had other Cybertron toys. New one looks like 8/10, but transformation reduces it to 6/10 (I HATE parts-formers) - slightly above average. Also, I don't know - Cybertron OP looks like actually it's a toy. Not a figure for collectors. Siege one doesn't look like it wants to be played with.
The original OP is a parts former tho... you can't transform it without removing the leg and back packs. The original is amazing, but I also love the new one.
@@Jcc2224 Actually you can when it comes to base figure. Yes, the backpack and super-mode leg parts become part-trailer, part-back side of a firetruck. But I'm ok with that as again - those are extras, not exactly core part of the Toy. It's not like you have to partially disassemble core toy's arms to make him into a truck like with new one. Yes, I understand that parts-forming is a part of the toy, but for me it's not "Disassemble the toy to change its mode" and more like combinations in super-robot anime - akin to Final Fusion for GaoGaiGar or Might Gaine mode for, well, Might Gaine. Which is, again - animation-accurate and feels like an extra feature.
Hasbro really needs to stop making such good Optimus designs weird retools. For years now we've had missed opportunities and off choices. Powermaster Optimus out of CW Ultra Magnus, losing the smaller Optimus mode, along with looking very little like the character unless you get the limited release version with discontinued upgrade kits. (Should have been the PotP Evolution mold Star Convoy out of PotP Evolution mold. As stated above, the PotP mold would be a good basis for a powermaster Optimus, a regular sized Optimus who can combine with his trailer to become a big version, but Star Convoy was a different type of truck with a different type of transformation. It looks acceptable, in robot mode, but is completely wrong in Vehicle mode Galaxy Force Optimus Prime out of Siege Ultra Magnus. This toy just completely misunderstands the concept of Galaxy Upgrade Optimus. His Cab forms a G1 Optimus with his chest formed out of the front of the truck, which Cybertron Optimus never did. To make him that version of Prime at all, you have to attach all the truck parts assembled entirely out of faux parts, and he's just wrong for the mold. Further, the Ultra Magnus mold could have worked really well for another Optimus, one who transformed in a nearly identical way to the Siege mold, RID2001/Car Robots Optimus Prime/Fire Convoy. Siege Sideswipe is a dead ringer for Gobots Optimus. The fact there were digibashes for ages combined with the toyhax conversion set show what a missed opportunity it was to not have a Deluxe class Optimus Prime.
The old one is Better. (Personally) Also I read the instructions, since I really, REALLY. Don’t want to break my figures. Well mostly, Seige prime was easy to transform, but for masterpiece figures, OH I’m breaking out those instructions as I am not breaking a 400 dollars figure
I was never able to get the old Leader Class Cybertron Prime, I only ever got the Legends figure so being able to have some version of him in my collection is nice but I'd note that the joints on him are a little loose. Might some slight mold deterioration from the Magnus mold but I like him all the same. There have actually been a few other Cybertron homages in the Seige line and one off the top of my head was Cybertron Hot Shot which uses the Hound mold.
Figuring out how to transform a figure without instructions can be cool... but risky My battle blades bumblebee door wing snapped when I made the wrong move while figuring it out. Ever since then I will always read instruction. But I will make exceptions in regards of an old figure with good quality plastic or doesn’t give me instruction to begin with
I literally got my interest for transformers back last thurday may 23rd by buying my first siege optimus prime, my favorite and first cartoon was the cybertron show. And now I find their making a siege version of that optimus , it's like it was meant to be or something or a huge coincidence. How did you get this early ?
That's awesome! You're jumping back into Transformers at a GREAT time, the Siege line is an amazing start! This figure is trickling out into stores and I found mine at Walmart, but it doesn't ship online for a while.

My Cybertron Optimus is missing his gun and on of his fire truck lights is broken, but I still have the Key and the other Missiles
I'd stick with Cybertron one.
Here's couple of reasons why:
1. He's a huge toy
2. He's in scale with other Cybertron transformers (like with Deluxe HotShot)
3. He isn't a parts-former (update: Ok, he IS a parts-former when it comes to super-mode. Read comment below, why I'm ok with that)
4. Little gimmicks that don't deal much, but add nice touch
5. Transformation and Super Mode are animation-accurate
6. Transformation is simple - which is REALLY Important for a toy. I hate modern transformers that have 100 steps transformations.
7. Toy in the video is in really bad shape - wings are floppy and nothing holds still. Brand new toys and toys in good condition are sturdy
That Optimus Design and transformation looks different and actually while kinda familiar, still fresh
10. No backpack. I mean, yes, he has a backpack in Super-Mode, but that is extra and makes sense (that's a jetpack and lots of guns)
11. His guns are not hollow shells
I only want the new one because of IDW
I saw a cybertron prime at a toy shop but he’s missing those big grey arm thingies?
The guns on seige Optimus are missing inner parts XD
They are borrowed from Ultra Magnus, whose double black blasters were also hollow. Unless you are talking about the silver ones.
THS-01 also has hanles on the super mode guns
I kinda totally forgot about that thing.
(Should have been the PotP Evolution mold
Star Convoy out of PotP Evolution mold. As stated above, the PotP mold would be a good basis for a powermaster Optimus, a regular sized Optimus who can combine with his trailer to become a big version, but Star Convoy was a different type of truck with a different type of transformation. It looks acceptable, in robot mode, but is completely wrong in Vehicle mode
Galaxy Force Optimus Prime out of Siege Ultra Magnus.
(Personally)
Also I read the instructions, since I really, REALLY.
You missed a large transformation step. On 2019 prime, slide the truck cab forward to be flush with the bumper. The entire truck will be better.
oh no
I have the siege Galaxy upgrade Optimus prime
Figuring out how to transform a figure without instructions can be cool... but risky
My battle blades bumblebee door wing snapped when I made the wrong move while figuring it out.
Ever since then I will always read instruction. But I will make exceptions in regards of an old figure with good quality plastic or doesn’t give me instruction to begin with
GREAT REVIEW DEFINITELY GETTING THE NEW ONE! VERY COOL!
This optimus prime is stronger than any other optimus! Wish i had the toy tho..💔
@Bendy Spinel I remember watching a video that said that they are comparable to each other
I like your reviews and your right instructions are dumb definitely subscribing 👍👌

"To what ever taste you prefer"
In regards to which optimus crotch you prefer the taste of.
@@Jcc2224 ah makes sense I should get my own soon then. Yeah in the past 3 days alone I bought the siege soundwave, megatron, and the bumblebee movie optimus prime.
The original is still leagues better over the Siege version
Cool robots
You forgot to fold in the feet in the original cybertron optimus prime
*OUR WORLDS ARE IN DANGER INTENSIFIES*
The cab on the siege optimus should have been designed to slide forward in vehicle mode.
it does but he just didn't do it
