It already is. I have moved to TV's for Dolby Vision HDR on 83" OLED, eventually will be on 98"+. The $9000 JVC has only 32 Gbps 4K60. That's pathetic for the price. All these TV's in the 98, 100, 110, and now 115" have VRR@144hz which the $9000 projector can't do on top of no Dolby Vision. This is from someone who got fed up with high price projectors with lower stats just for the sake of size. Going from 110" projector system to 83" Oled, didn't bother me as gaming and movies are 50/50. Gaming is so much crisper and great HDR support, specially on OLED. Big screen TV's WILL keep going down year after year because of the competition.
snowbeast: There is merit to your suggestions, but when I marked out what an 83 inch would look like on my media room wall as compared to my current 110 inch projector screen, my family and friend’s response was: NO WAY! I agree the tech spec’s are far better for the tv, especially for gaming, BUT it depends where you intend to put it. Try moving extra large tv’s up stairs or down for example. Then there is the cost for plus 83 inch sizes currently. The ultimate solution for the use cases I suggest is micro-led modular displays, which is slowly making its way into the market place, but costs are still very high. Suffice to say, I ultimately agree with your assertions, but still the most effective way to get to a larger screen area is a projector, at least for another 5 years or more, I should think. If on the other hand, your display is going to be on the main floor and there is a direct line to where you need it, AND you have the cash, go for it: 115 inch - here I come! Caveat: No sooner than you buy it, it will likely be out-of-date given the speed that the technology for these extra large tv’s is evolving, it seems to me.
@@snowbeast7216I think LED panels will be the next big thing in the home theater market, however right now they are so expensive and the tech is very new; overtime they may become more affordable for the home market.
@@snowbeast7216 What a joke. Sure OLEDs are great. I have one in my living room, but in my theater room I have a massive 2.35:1 screen that takes over the entire wall, 147"wide, and makes my 83" LG G4 OLED TV look like a smart phone. The only way TVs will ever replace projectors is when we get foldable or rollable screens that can be shipped in a box and unfolded and mounted on a wall in massive sizes. In 20 years I think that will happen. For now my LG G4 is mostly used for games, and maybe some comedy movies or TV shows. When I want to get serious and really watch a movie, I'm in my theater room. TVs are toys, projectors are the real thing. I understand not being able to afford the price, I've been there before. But, if you can afford it, there is NO WAY you would settle for a TV.
This stream was a hidden JVC ad. Disappointing. I hope Valerion completely disrupts the market and forces JVC, Sony and Epson to re-examine their current price gauging strategies. 10K projector and no 3D is a joke.
Looking forward to the NZ700 review.
Very good overview especially with a JVC rep who can provide actual facts rather than just market hype. Bring on your upcoming 700 review!
so if you have a z9 and it dies, can you replace the laser with a z900 laser?
I'm sure they're not interchangeable
Excellent, clear information . Thank you all.
will the new jvc laser projector be incorporating dolby vision and hdr10+
Do you think the tv will eventually replace the projector

With the new Valerion projectors coming out in market, how are they compare to the Sony and jvc laser projectors
It looks like a 4k DLP projector of its class. Nobody is gonna mistake a Valerian for a JVC or Sony.
@@therealshanelee Valerian I know from the comic books: "Valerian and Laureline"!
Are you joking? That junk isn't in the same universe as a JVC. It's like a Ferrari vs a trash can.
No 3d and too long throw ratio? Cmoooon
There are maybe 20 people who still watch 3d. It's a good cost decision.
@ You are very wrong, projection is why 3d even exists
@@vagomaniac What an absurd answer...
Too bad there is no 3D. However smaller size, laser and upgraded specs are a big plus over outgoing models.
