I'm 20 years old and from LA. I want to apologize on behalf of my generation for the level of ignorance towards good music and musicianship. What a wonderful performance. Love Haynes and Trucks too. Les Paul lovers heaven.
Wow 9yrs ago hope your still listening
every individual is different, never apologize for somebody else's ignorance, buy the ticket take the ride and above all be free.
And.. the stage didn't collapse under the weight of all that talent.. we are truly blessed to live in a time when people can still play such sounds to caress the soul, the world..
Derek doing his best impression of Skydawg. Waxes nostalgic, takes me back to my youth in early 70's, Their music so much soul was magical beyond words....
Howard Duane "Skydog" Allman
Nov 20 1946-Oct 29 1971
"Forever in our Hearts"
Amen bruh
I love the Derek stands next to Gregg, like Gregg, it's so nice to see family sticking with each other. Now with Gregg gone, a void is missing. I hope people truly respect the ABB and give them the bright lights they deserve now that Gregg is gone. It would be the best way to remember a legend.
THEY'RE NOT RELATED
Warren used to stand next to Gregg.
@@tommanley5210 no they aren't but Derek's Dad was the Drummer for The Brothers for a long time so Derek is Extended Family.
i started playing drums in 1965 when i was 13 and i still play. i'm so glad to have lived and played through some of the greatest years in music. i once thought Disco was trash. It was so much better than what i have heard, for the most part in the last 25-30 years. Women singers mostly show their bodies now because "talent" is virtually absent. Electronics makes them and they all sound the same with no musical or lyrical content to speak of. With "clothes" on, and without dozens of dancers to distract from their lack of any musical value, they would be nothing. This is an Excellent post. Thanks. i saw them many years ago when Dickie was with them.
Yea !! I saw ABB at the Beacon . Dicky and Warren were the two guitar sound for a couple decades. To go along with the duel drummers!
Nice to see Gregg still was a functioning member of the band. The whole ABB experience has been a part of my young adult and not-so-young adult life...still break out in a sweat hearin’’ those boys jammin’ it up.
Sometimes I sit back and think, Damn, has it really been 45 years since I started listening to them? My dad said it was even longer but I can't remember.
Anyway, I love that they carried on and still made amazing music right up to the very end.
Timeless music n sure glad we all get to enjoy it together, Hell Yeah ✌🏻❤️🎼🎶🇺🇸
Derek Trucks' brilliance cannot be captured in words. And I LOVE the My Sweet Lord tease at 11:11
THANK YOU!
Jeff Buchko can't believe I missed it the first time through!
it's brilliant !!!
All the times I have listened to that I never realized Warren did that.
@William Young Dereck is Butch's nephew
Look kids, this is what a stage should look like. Amps, mics, stands and gaffer tape. No smoke pots, dancing idiots and costume changes....just musicians pouring out their souls.
AZCobraman yes
Yeah sure, be condescending towards the next generation of music listeners. I'm sure that'll make them want to listen to your music more. Unbelievable.
CJ S I like yes
CJ S yeah, I have to agree with him though. Kids these days are being feed bullshit by big recording companies that don’t know what good music is. I say knock them upside their collective heads and try to get them to see what real music played from the heart and soul really is. Unfortunately it’s harder to find underneath all the advertised crap these days, but it’s out there. You just gotta try.

I love finding gems like this! I wish there was more
Sunday mourning, coffee, family still in bed sleeping, and me jamming. This is my church, my faith, and my serenity.
Forget the laser lights, backup dancers, outrageous costumes,,, this is real.!!
Wow ! I miss those guys so much. I was lucky ,saw them 27 times . Mostly up front. I am truly blessed.
I have this image in my head: The ghost of Duane patting these two gentlemen on the head and saying, "Good job, Brothers."
They have definitely done him proud
Made me smile
The Allman Brothers are now no more and this makes me sad. Ill always cherish the memories of this band. I saw them six times and loved every moment of it. Happy retirement gentlemen. #alltimegreats
Kevin Leffler I got into them literally just a few months after their last show.
King Crimson Thats a shame, but I feel your pain. I never got to see Jerry. I saw ABB many times. mostly this lineup, but I saw Dickey also.
+Kevin Leffler true, but Derek and Warren will continue to make great music.Being a life long AAB fan, they will be missed. Kudos to the band members past and present..........thank you for all the amazing music. aka Classic Bob
Bufus Blane Derek is the greatest guitar player playing right now. Warren had played with them longer than the band played without him. You can be butt hurt because it isn't the original cast form the Filmore album or you can just enjoy it. What were Gregg, Butch and Jaimo supposed to do? Stop Playing? ABB cut more albums after eat a peach than before.
+Nick Kyler Lol.
For anyone interested, they start to play Smokestack Lightnin' at about the 13:00 mark. Song originally done by blues musician Howlin' Wolf. That's some of that Mississippi and Louisiana blues influence in Southern rock n' roll. I still like ole Wolf's version better, but this is pretty damn classic in my book.
Agree. Howlin Wolf crushed it for me having heard him well before The Allman Brothers, which happen to be my all time #1 band.
MY DEAR BROTHER. DICKIE May your soul keep on Rocklin RIP ....❤
eat a peach was always one of my favorite albums , saw them in philly in the 70's .
Just being in the same room as Gregg Allman was worth the price of admission.
This not just music thisn is well crafted art!!!!
Been a jam band fan for years and after forty years we go back to where it all began. This stuff never gets old. Thanks for the post and Thank You Allman Bros. …
This is definitely the best jamming I have heard in nearly half a century..I rate this as an eclectic experience.
and organically so too.
+Bufus Blane .... We get it, you don't like Derek. Warren, Allen Woody. Nobody compares to Skydog..... But I have seen my share of ABB shows too. There is no denying that You live a miserable life. So sad for you. The rest of us celebrate..... !
This must have b een as enjoyable for them to play a new version of this great song after so many decades as it was for us to listen to this version. Birdland came home to roost.
I was a HUGE fan of the original. This is wonderful.
What outstanding talent - This music is timeless and another great example of American Exceptionalism.
I love how Derek lets it all fall off at 5:55 or so, pauses a second, and then launches again!
absolute. total. brilliance. precisely why i've lost count how many times i've seen them live. for the first time ever i think i've finally met reality because if it weren't for youtube's track time i would have sworn to my death this little clip was an hour and a half long. that's called getting carried the FUCK away. epic upload. THANKS
Damn....and Trucks gets all that tone and crunch the honest way, big strings, his hands and pure tube goodness!
very nicely done! tx! refreshing to see new band members carry on the original groove! hard off to Trucks and Haynes!
LOVE that OB is boogie-woogieing the Allen Woody Rumblekat!!!
I've gone and listened to about eight versions of this piece of music. This is my No. 1 version.
I was in front brother. It was amazing
Beautiful!!!
Only one wish: I wish I could have seen them do Whipping Post/Mountain Jam with a full symphony...if there's a symphony in the world that could keep up.
Nope. There isn't.
@@SGTJDerek Truth.
Derek does a great job channeling Duane. This is a terrific video with great sound.
glad you enjoyed it!
The bass guitarist is to the right, the black gentleman. He is there the whole time.
Bands like this are rare.
Warren and Derek also take multiple dips into "Birdland" by Joe Zawinul (off of Weather Report's "Heavy Weather" album, 1977). Exemplary work by the entire great band; thank you Less Than Face for posting!
First Birdland reference 9:30. Song interlude between 13:30 and 17:30. Duane's slide spot: 18:50. This edition of the band did a good job in rejigging the two lead guitar roles. Haynes used to do the Duane Allman slide part to Betts melodic part. Then Haynes switched to the Betts role and Trucks did the Allman role. And voila. Though the "wings beyond the blues" vibe sort of went with Betts.
This time next Friday I will be seeing the boys for the 7th time at Peach Fest!!!
Can not come soon enough, Thanks for the great video!
SOUNDS LIKE ONE OF THE RIFFS FROM BIRDLAND I LOVE THE 4 DRUMMERS AND HOW THEY COMPLIMENT EACH OTHER SO WELL
Nicely played fellas
Journey center of the earth.very cool
OUTSTANDING.
That's pretty dang funny! Oteil is there the entire 25 minutes. This was fantastic.
What an amazing combo
Rating guitarists is like rating sex ,when you feel it in your soul, that is what you have to go by !
Nice to hear the inclusion of parts of 'Birdland' by Weather Report (9:29) ..... brilliant idea
I used to scorn the current Allman Brothers Band, thinking that nothing could come close to how it was. I am now thankfully learning that this is incorrect.
I love this!
Thanks to whoever posted this AWESOME!!
Our pleasure!
This is awesome!!!
Mucho Gracias Less Than Face
Stunning!
Love the "Birdland" tease.
just caught that...pretty awesome
Agreed... Trucks is incredible.
AWESOME!
They say we can't go back....hell I'm already there. ....God bless you Thundergod and ABB 2. ...
same here bro from the same city and good music isnt whats on the main radio stations now.... glad youtube is here otherwise... id be in the dark lol
Sky dog yeah you right , cause I'm feeling it on this Monday afternoon digg-it . 😎🎸⚡️⚡️⚡️💥✌🏻️
I'm 20 from the other side of the country, and we just became best friends.
I was at this show...they did all of Eat A Peach
RIP G.A.
Alls forgive young man. Thanks for coming back from the dark side. Welcome aboard. I have tons of AWESOME old school rock for your virgin ears.
There's simply, simple music for simple minds.
See you in heaven.
I was sitting trying to remember what album I had by them...Eat A Peach
I think Mr. Wolf and Mr. Sumlin would have enjoyed that.
I love when Derek plays without the slide!!!
Awesome
Unbelievable!!!
Greatness!
Jeff Becks amazing youth bass player.....she is unreal!
..great Jam...
I’ll have a cuppa tea with my Noodling thx✌🏻
masters at work,rest and play
Birdland and My sweet lord....
No such thing as a bad Allman Brothers video!
Love the Birdland riff at 14:45...Miss you, Jaco!
Thanks also to Donovan who planted the seed....
Greg and Trucks: great together!
Just makes me wonder how good another studio album would of been from these guys.
I'm sure other people are picking up on the Jaco lick right?
Wow cool, he played the melody from a Weather Report song over Smokestack Lightnin', Very cool mashup, lol!
What is so amazing to me, is that Derrek Trucks plays his guitar and open E tuning regardless of whether or not he's using a slide. How does he play finger style on open E tuning? To me that is kind of mind Boggling.
Great talent and guitar interplay ... but Duane and Dickey were just totally awesome in their prime.
Great job!
I can never understand why they don't turn up Greg's organ in the mix when he has a solo.
And that Weather Report Birdland snippet about 9 minutes in. Where's Jaco?
My 2 favorite guitarists after Clapton but actually Trucks owned the stage on this one
Damn he's good.
BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRDDDDDLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND
Oh man, that was insane. Leave it to two musical studies to toss a few birdland licks in there.
These two are best ticket out there. Too bad it’s only cameo nowadays. If they in town together get tickets. Msg in 20 was unreal. Derek is by far best guitar player on planet
I always, always wanted to see if this band could have done it with a full symphony orchestra. Repeat Fillmore East with Whipping Post followed by this full length, with a symphony. Granted it’s ridiculous and awesome without one. But I could just picture this going so many insane directions if they could have figured out how to do it.
Great comment benjaminjay30
Derek Trucks is my favorite guitar player, but Warren Haynes is a little underrated I think.
13:00 Smokestack Lightning begins :)
apology excepted, and the gift is urs to experience. rock on
Can you tell me what device did you use to record this, it sounds great?
