well bred middle class kids that have taken a couple of wrong turns off to Goa and ended up growing dreadlocks and taking dmt to fields lol .. Leave Clive alone people, he is funny. Take a deep breathe and meditate, you know your healing methods
Main problem with most music docs is they can't decide if they're a documentary or a mockumentary. This was mostly the latter and the serious "this is a definitive statement about what this genre is" bits pissed everybody off. Those don't belong in a mockumentary because they were complete bollocks. Plus presenting yourself as authoritive when you've picked the first (often worst) aspect of a scene, spent a couple of hours filming there and then make broad generalisations.
I love the Big Night Out series. Can't wait to see more of them! Kinda sucks it gets such poor responses. At least he is pretty cool about it. Keep the vids coming!!
People don't realise Vice and Noisey make there videos unbiased, they don't try to suit peoples feelings to anything they just subject everything to their own critique, this is why I like and watch Vice and Noisey.
See, I actually think the BNO segments are generally pretty even-handed and sympathetic to their subjects. I like them. But Clive Martin does come across as a sneering, patronising little toad in this one.
I'm not sure if this guy is trying to be a spoof documentary maker or not. He mentioned about people being clichés in one film, but I noticed a number of clichés come from his mouth in the minutes afterwards lol. Really enjoyed the documentaries in an ironic fashion and watched 3 episodes yesterday twice over. I was more enjoying how out of place Clive looked amongst people actually enjoying life while he constantly attempted to bring them down by mentioning complete non issues. More documentaries please Clive and could you please do a follow up interview with Carl Cox as your scared little "white bread, boy in a bubble, never talked to a black man before" face was highly entertaining. also I loved the part where you played the DJ in your pig mask and talked about how it was an amazing gig, even though we never actually get to see the crowd and even afterwards get a shot of the EMPTY cloak room. We need more of this kind of cringe TV, you could be this decade's David Brent, mate.
Mate... Just watched all your videos. I am a raver and have been to all the event types you have. I loved them. I appreciate all genres of music too. Well documented.
The videos are brilliant. Love going to both psy and d'n'b events and they are exactly as you describe them, had a gag watching them. Can't wait for an in depth analysis of a minimal techno event...
You should carry on doing this series pal, regardless of what the butthurt people think. To my knowledge there is nothing on youtube, or the internet for that matter, like this. It's great to see what a music scene looks and feels like from the outside looking in. UK Hardcore/freeform rave would be a gooden! :)
In the next series clive should go all out and take whatever there taking, do what they do and then rate the events at the end of the night. He only drank and did a nos balloon in the whole series.
i haven't watched this one yet, but ive seen the big night out eps (upto the indie one?) but this guy speaks the truth, if not ignorant outsider impressions about the scenes he checks out: if anyone else that, say wasn't into drum n bass had checked out said scene, they might form similar impressions about the overly-friendliness of the people and the enthusiasm of attendees. and if that person were to be a stiff, hipster-asshat brit, then how can anyone really be all that surprised at Martin's comments drenched in so much self-loathing and its inherent cynicism?
I feel like an idiot for asking, but did he just down a glass of urine? Also, stop getting mad that your subcultures are being misrepresented by this guy. Video blogs aren't the same as unbiased reporting. The reason why cable news doesn't talk about the music scene is because they've got nothing entertaining to say about it.
I liked his videos, he was just stating his oppinion on those individual events, that they can be different from mine was totally in my expectation. So i watched and enjoyed him getting himself into all those crazy parties, reporting his experience. Entertaining 😁
i like this guy, people are just too protective over their music... I like my dnb but not the shite that he did the video on... jump up nowadays IS well shit.
oh so this is the guy that judges alot of people and their taste.......seeing him makes it clear why he so frustrated....dude even a public toilet is cleaner than your teeth.
brilliant series - please keep them coming. The comments are almost the best part about this thing - I sometimes struggle to grasp how incredible stupid the common www people can be. @CIive: guess you are too british for this crowd.
people can't handle the truth about their sad little subcultures, they need to develop an identity outside of the type of music they like/clubs they go to, all part of growing up hey.
Please never stop making Big Night Out videos. The butthurt in the comments is always worth it.
People hate seeing others having fun when theyre not lol
well bred middle class kids that have taken a couple of wrong turns off to Goa and ended up growing dreadlocks and taking dmt to fields lol .. Leave Clive alone people, he is funny. Take a deep breathe and meditate, you know your healing methods
I demand more videos of Clive being bullied by various subcultures, hurry up and make Season 2.
Can't believe the rage big Clive creates within people, I think he's hilarious and the series was brilliant.
I think that was the point of it being him and not some other dude or lady. The hate brings the views. Its the internet expect the trolls

I miss those videos. I thinks it's time for a 2020 update on the british club-culture!

Please keep making episodes, such a good series.
He encompasses the name Clive
I love the Big Night Out series. Can't wait to see more of them! Kinda sucks it gets such poor responses. At least he is pretty cool about it. Keep the vids coming!!
Putting that jagerbomb down was very Alan Partridge. "Ooh ladyboys!"

Isn't that the point though?
This guy is brilliant!

Mate... Just watched all your videos. I am a raver and have been to all the event types you have. I loved them. I appreciate all genres of music too. Well documented.
I kind like the videos you provide, not everything is true or accurate but it give a point view to the peoples.
The videos are brilliant. Love going to both psy and d'n'b events and they are exactly as you describe them, had a gag watching them. Can't wait for an in depth analysis of a minimal techno event...

This is a great documentary series, well done!
sorry the show didnt go by as expected, i actually really ejoyed it and i find you do an exellent job with the naratives please dont end the show
Love how much hate Clive Martin gets; great series.
I understand he is not funny, but what makes these videos interesting to watch is how out of place he looks.
Why don't Brits brush their teeth
why don't yanks have a sense of humour?
what does that have to do with personal hygiene?
Fidge Gunkhaus nothing I JUST THOUGHT i'd point it out. Also, why do yanks have to have teeth so bright white that they don't look like teeth?
fair play, but I'd rather have bright whites rather than neon yellow mixed with fluorescent green but I guess that's where we differ
ur a fukwad
Thanks for justifying why I would never want to go to any bars/clubs in the UK. You're entertaining tho, so thanks again.
Clive please make more videos!!! the IDM scene is something else....
1:49 is an absolutely perfect description of me, down to the letter, bravo clive
Is the song at the beginning and end the same song in the into credits for enter the void?
pretty sure I saw Clive Martin in Waterloo station last week, wasn't sure if it was him at first but I think he was wearing that same coat
whats the background music from 4.30?
i haven't watched this one yet, but ive seen the big night out eps (upto the indie one?)

Season 2:Big night out, bring it now!!!!
Does that pub have not heating?
Clive isn't really pretentious. Sticking up for yourself isn't exactly pretentious. The way in which he comes back to all the hate is clever.
I feel like an idiot for asking, but did he just down a glass of urine? Also, stop getting mad that your subcultures are being misrepresented by this guy. Keep up the videos they are great i'd love to see when sub-genre is next... Deep House???

I liked his videos, he was just stating his oppinion on those individual events, that they can be different from mine was totally in my expectation. So i watched and enjoyed him getting himself into all those crazy parties, reporting his experience. Entertaining 😁

Yea continue this series, it's pretty decent
i like this guy, people are just too protective over their music... I like my dnb but not the shite that he did the video on... jump up nowadays IS well shit.
I want more of these videos. When Clive Martin attempted to be funny, I laughed.
"you 100% don't understand percentages"
brilliant :D
oh so this is the guy that judges alot of people and their taste.......seeing him makes it clear why he so frustrated....dude even a public toilet is cleaner than your teeth.
Clive's a decent chap, surprised half the people commenting on the videos even know how to use a keyboard
Psytrance episode was spot on.
Lol Clive Martin is clowning ya'll with his interlect and quick wit, too funny when he dropped the percentage line loooooool
brilliant series - please keep them coming.
The comments are almost the best part about this thing - I sometimes struggle to grasp how incredible stupid the common www people can be.

Amazing
Btw could Deep House be next?
So, what it is all? just 6 episodes? or u couldn't handle more?
what happened to his tooth
people can't handle the truth about their sad little subcultures, they need to develop an identity outside of the type of music they like/clubs they go to, all part of growing up hey.
Go to Bristol and see a Joker show and make that the Dubstep episode.
cant help but feel clive is taking the piss in this and that burberry mac is just dreadful
That'll teach me for being outspoken about things that I like.
What's red and orange and looks good on Clive Martin? .... Fire
It's obvious why people hate him.
He's so condescending.
