  • One of the statistical tests used in A Level Biology, Spearman’s Rank Correlation is used to check whether there is a link/correlation between two sets of data.
    This step by step video will show you how to:
    - understand why you need to use a Spearman’s rank correlation
    - ascertain and state your null hypothesis
    - carry out the statistical test
    - find the critical value at p=0.05 (and what that means)
    - write a conclusion for your findings.

      Yes, you will be provided with the formulae for the statistical tests including standard deviation 😊

    Nice Video! Also, I was wondering, is Spearman's Rank a form of primary or secondary data? I assume if the data in your Spearman's Rank is gathered by you entirely then it would classify as primary, and that if the data in the Spearman's Rank is from secondary sources (like from the internet) then its secondary? Or not?

      @BiologyBreakdownwithMrsH  Рік тому

      The data is not real, I have made it up just for the purpose of teaching the skills of completing the test 😊. We don’t teach about primary and secondary data on our specification but it is good to be aware 😊

    Don’t you rank the values from lowest to highest

    • @BiologyBreakdownwithMrsH
      @BiologyBreakdownwithMrsH  Рік тому +4

      Hi, you can do! As long as you rank both columns the same way i.e both lowest to highest or both highest to lowest, you will end up with the same answer 😊

    Great video, but the formula you used cannot be used when tied values occur. If such values occur, the formula for Pearson's r has to be used with the ranked values. :) (Actually this formula you used is a modified version of Pearson's r with ranked values with the assumption that no tied values are present.

      Fab! You know more than I do 😊 this only goes up to A level Biology standard, I try to avoid information they don’t need to know as the course is so intense 😭
