A couple of points I picked up on straight away. Firstly, there IS modelling. The preamp modelling is a combination of valves and Line 6's 'HD' modelling technology. Also, the 'Line 6 Link' is for a digital connection to any of the Pod HD pedals, NOT other DT50 amps.
"No modeling...whatsoever." C'mon guys. This is completely irresponsible. Here's a quote from Line 6's own ad copy: "Behind each Voicing is the perfect recipe of dynamic analog circuitry (which includes tube configuration and negative feedback loop topology), and HD amp modeling technology (which fuels the preamp and tone stack)." So it's a hybrid amp. Just like the Spider Valve amp which came before. It weds a digital modeling preamp with a tube amp power stage. Not that this is necessarily a BAD thing mind you. Once it's been tweaked, I quite like the sound of it. It's just misleading to tell people there is no modeling involved.
i honestly don't know everything about it. but it sounds so incredible with an overdrive in front. with all the extra features, i actually like it more than my 6505+
well....one of the more accurate sounding reviews so far...one that actually gives you a good sample of the 4 different voicings. This is digital preamp modeling amp with an all valve power section. And you can link several amps via the L6 Link (read the manual). The preamp sections can be synced and controlled by any of the POD HD series modeling pedals with emulate 16 different amps. I have the POD HD 500 and the DT 112...so far I am impressed with this rig.
I changed out my stock tubes for JJ tubes(much better tone) and upgraded the amp(for free) to firmware 2.0 , and that game this amp over 30 amps to choose from, after the changes i love my amp so very much more. it sounds amazing for my little music room.
I wish more videos for this amp were more insightful about how the analog valve section and HD modelling section work together in the DT Series. I know a whole summary of the amp may make a long video, but at least be correct enough to say to the watchers of this video that the low power mode on the push/pull master volume is actually disabling the tube section completely and running it only with the HD modelling section. For those checking this amp out, look at the Line 6 web site and videos to get a fully-educated understanding of this awesome amp.
he's actually wrong on several counts. it's a digital preamp modeling with analog tube power section. lower power model doesnt bypass the tubes. what it does it change the taper of the master volume so that even at say, 12 o'clock on the knob it's like 10% what it would normally be. in low power mode full amp modeling is enable to make up for the tubes not being driven hard. they're still being driven though as this amp doesn't have a solid-state power section at all.
FALSE - The DT50 is a modeling amp!!! I sell them and speak with the Line 6 reps daily. The signal chain is tube preamp, digitial processing, then tube driver, to tube power section. The distortion and voicing is digitally processed.
Notice how the sound just opens up with that mic just a foot or so back from the amp? Why oh why do people still insist on kissing the grill when miking? No one on earth actually listens to an amp that way. We stand (or sit) several feet away and play. So why do we mic an amp so closely that we completely eliminate the cab and room as a tone source? Pull that mic back a bit and let that amp breathe people! And might I add, thank God Pedr just had to have a go...because he can actually play. What a difference it makes. Turned this into a REAL demo.
MeTuLHeD that’s not the problem here, the problem is that the mic isn’t even on a speaker at all. They might as well have moved the mic back a few feet if they weren’t going to place it correctly. As far as micing far away in general in the studio there’s no reason why not but live it’s partially to tailor sound you want by speaker placement and partially to isolate the guitar from the rest of the band. If you put the mic 3 feet away with a live drum kit in the room you’re in for a bad day.
Nothing against Taylor guitars, but not a good choice for a demo. Nobody really knows how these guitars sound and very few own them, so you will have nothing to compare it to. Demos should be done with "standard" instruments - Fender strats, Gibson Les Pauls, which are already known quantities. I think the problem at 4:38 is the Taylor's setting mismatched to Line 6 setting. UA-cam: ya get watcha pay for.
Pedr made this damn thing sound amazing.. Not to be disrespectful but the first guy playing this made it sound like absolute shite.. I was looking at this to buy it after seeing his demo i nearly lost interest and moved onto other demos for other amps.. but after PEDR got on here and rocked it... it saved this amp and i'm still now looking into this amp.
@deathgrind1 The demo doesn't do this amp any justice. You might want to check line6movies for more demo of what this amp really capable of. BTW, the guy playing the guitar doesn't know his stuff. He's good on the m13 but not this one. However, I like the last representative more.
Logan Gabriel that is incorrect. Go read the line 6 web site. The preamp is line 6 modelling. The preamp tubes aren't gain stages in the DT series. One is a buffer used for impedence matching and the other is a phase inverter.
Who gives a shit if it has a digital preamp? Guess what, EVERY PROFESSIONAL GUITAR PLAYER THAT USES A PEDAL. lets see thats... SRV, Zakk Wylde, Eric Johnson, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Kobain, uh....just ABOUT EVERYONE! Uses a pedal of some type, nearly ALL of them dont have tubes and now you've essentually got A SOLD STATE PREAMP section! Holy shit take you "tube" head outa your ass!

I own one. It has 2 12ax7s in the preamp. but that doesn't mean there isn't modeling involved somewhere in there. but it's not a fully digital preamp.
i honestly don't know everything about it. but it sounds so incredible with an overdrive in front. with all the extra features, i actually like it more than my 6505+
it's a great sounding amp but you're right it has digitally modeled pre section coupled with analog power section.
Modeling Preamp and All Valve Output

How did I completely miss these? This sounds badass at the end!
@Zhorellski It doesn't have a digital pre-amp, it has a tube preamp with DSP that runs two 12ax7's
I changed out my stock tubes for JJ tubes(much better tone) and upgraded the amp(for free) to firmware 2.0 , and that game this amp over 30 amps to choose from, after the changes i love my amp so very much more. it sounds amazing for my little music room.

@idleminds1 my comments were regaurding this amps terrible perfomance in person. I and a friend tried it out as he was considering buying one.
nice, what are its capabilitys for metal? and how much, i might just go on your website and buy it!!!!!
FALSE - The DT50 is a modeling amp!!! I sell them and speak with the Line 6 reps daily. The signal chain is tube preamp, digitial processing, then tube driver, to tube power section. The distortion and voicing is digitally processed.
WRONG! DT50 has digital preamp!!
I love how that 57 is in between the speakers on that 412 lol
@deathgrind1 ...how do you know?

why do you's charge so much for ESP's and LTD's.

THIS AMP SO MUCH BETTER THAN WHAT U HAVE GOING ON!!!! dude, u need to regroup!!!!!lol
Nice
I see some wolfgangs in the back
Lamest demo Ive ever seen
get your filthy hands away from that les paul, someone is going to pay a fortune to get it
My Peavey 3120 is twice the amp of this amp!
Possibly the worst sounding Fender ever, (for not a Fender) - 4:38 - hard to know if it's the demo or the amp, in fairness to LINE 6.
it's not all valve amp but a "digital preamp and valve power tube amp",with modeling
56335130 You are wrong :))
+Tomas Thomas he's right. digital preamp modeling, analog tube power section. says it right on their website :)
+brando92711 the amp has two 12as7 tubes in the pre-amp. it's not an all digital pre-amp with a tube power section. this IS a tube amp.
Logan Gabriel that is incorrect. Go read the line 6 web site. The preamp is line 6 modelling. The preamp tubes aren't gain stages in the DT series. One is a buffer used for impedence matching and the other is a phase inverter.
this guy look like a skirell xDDDDD

What people give a shit about are the false statements in the video.
this sucks ge someone who can demo the fkin thing..
I still dont like line 6
