My name is Samantha and I have been creating advocacy videos on UA-cam since 2009. This channel was formerly known as Live Hope Lupus and was created in order to start a community for those living with chronic illnesses. In September 2019, I transitioned to a plant-based diet and I have found my body is responding well to it. Along with my lifestyle change, I am learning to alter my focus more on the positive. My current content will focus on my healing journey, what food I am eating, and everyday life. I will still be posting an occasional update about my health. I hope you all are ready to join me on this crazy journey of healing. We are all learning how to navigate this life together. If you have subscribed, thank you! I appreciate your support and look forward to talking with you all in the comments.

Hi Samantha, This is off topic but I wanted to thank you for posting those costochondritis videos. 5-6 days ago I was in the most intense pain of my life with a costo attack and of all the videos on this subject yours was the most real, helpful, and encouraging. I ordered the Backpod on Prime at a much reduced price thankfully, and it arrived on the day of my most intense pain 9-10/10 so I had to wait til the next day to use it as I could hardly move, walk or breath let alone unbox it. The first treatment felt good lying on my couch with 2 pillows👍The following day I felt great! By day 2 back to 100%🙏🏻Thank you!
The SAD diet is an addiction, it’s more addictive than drugs so that desire to eat oreos & fish is understandable but since samantha isn’t fully healed, she’ll feel the effects.
Glad that ur listening to your body. I honestly been thinking about what’s best to eat myself. And i think i came up with a theory that if my stomach isn’t giving me hunger pangs after eating i must’ve eaten properly. I think a mixture of small amount of meat with fruits/veggies is best. With all the back and forth studies it’s hard to say for sure, just do what u think works for you and try not to stress too much if you had to switch your regimen around to suit your personal needs.
I think that is a great way to look at it! All of our bodies are so different and it really is about what makes us feel best.
@@HealWithSamantha Our bodies operate & heal exactly the same if given the proper things to heal. Yes we can have different reactions to foods, drugs etc but the healing process for all inflammatory diseases is the same.
It’s really hard to figure out what to eat with chronic illnesses ❤❤
I have taken out SO MUCH . I’m down to just a few foods now but they are the most nutrient dense I can find ❤❤😊
I’m glad the protocol worked for you, it didn’t work for me and I was told by Dr. Goldner’s husband that it was my fault. I did the group program twice and all it did give me a low key eating disorder and make me feel bad. I was told that the protocol wasn’t working for me because I ate one too many pieces or sugar or was only several ozs off from my water goal one day. I would recommend a vegan low sugar diet as much as you can but wouldn’t recommend anyone do coaching with Dr. Goldner and her husband.
Oh wow. I am sorry to hear you had a bad experience! Thank you for sharing.

Hello Samantha
Are you much better than before
And can you tolerate foods much more than before (including junk food)
@@HealWithSamantha
I am saying like can your body tolerate more than before even the junk food
As I assume you couldn't even have a bite from that specific food cause it would cause flare up but now when you eat it (even the worst food like snacks) you have no symptoms
@camden7846 Of course you’re going to feel bad, your body is detoxing so it can heal. Why are you eating sugar when your body is trying to repair itself? Why aren’t you drinking the proper amount of water? If a Doctor tells you to take 2 pills every 8 hrs and no more or less, you do it. Instead of masking symptoms with medication Dr. Goldner is using food & water as medication. You need to follow the instructions like you would a doctor’s. Sugar should have no part of any diet, not processed sugar. Dr. Goldner’s protocol is lab tested & numerous testimonials prove it works. Yet you’re on here telling people not to try cause you couldn’t do your part. That’s not ok. I’ll counter by saying let the evidence speak for itself. Dr Goldner is living proof it works & there are thousands she’s helped so don’t let one naysayer put you off.
But were you diligent with your program or did you slip up a few times?
I totally understand! I am currently eating better (for the most part), but it is difficult to keep up with it at times. I was vegan for four years and when I was on a renal diet, I had to eat low phosphorus and high protein. Had to say bye to beans, some fruits and veggies 😭. Then I feel completely off the wagon and gained so much weight. I am slowly getting back on the horse and I’m enjoying the ride. Tfs
Ahh yeah eliminating foods would make it difficult for me as well! I am glad you are getting back to it and enjoying the process.
As you're trying to find a midground you could also try and heal with athletic greens for the vitamins and then just add the other missing stuff (omega 3) and see if that's more convenient
Fish once a week will provide the necessary B12. I eat mostly plant-based, but I do not fear animal products. Dry fasting heals the body, not the foods. It's a balance between breaking down the body and building it back up.
You’re still addicted to processed foods, hence the difficulty. Maybe try the protocol for 2 months & see if you can kick the food addictions?
Eat whats good for your body :)
Just found your channel. New Subbie. Do you still take Benlysta Infusion? How are they going? Results? D/C for lack of marked change? I just started last week. I’ve been on Plaquenil & Imuran for 11yrs. Thank you!
Hi! Thanks for subscribing! I was on Benlysta from 2011-2013. It worked well for me but I had to come off because of insurance. I was on long term prednisone and was able to get off of it at the time. Inflammatory markers were down.
I remember it taking around 4 months to fully work. I hope you get get results!
@@HealWithSamantha Thank you!! Be careful, long term Prednisone caused Osteoporosis in me.
I would be curious to know how long after eating bad stuff (if at all) you started having symptoms (that affected your life even in a small way) again. I mean if it turned out you could e.g. eat an less nutritional hot meal a day and still feel great anyway (along with a smoothie or so) then I guess it would be a good balance for you. To put it another way: maybe you did another video indicating how quickly you increase in symptoms when eating worse and then why you chose the balance you did at the moment
Similar question: with your current diet what symptoms do you currently have?
i definitely find that diet plays a role in managing my lupus. i focus on gut health. bone broth!! limit sugars, low sodium, wild caught fish- i love salmon 😋
Just had salmon tonight! Yes, it definitely plays a role.

Hi, I found your video about costochondritis, I was actively involved in sports, then I switched to a vegetarian diet and after a couple of months I got chest pain. I suspect that this is a problem of vegetarians, due to the lack of some vitamins, my strength indicators have also fallen very much. What do you think ?)
I'm hearing carnivore is helping with autoimmune disorder.
Dude, really eat some steak 🥩. Get healthy eat meat.
