  • A brawl broke out in the ring after a Muay Thai fight got too heated in a stadium in Chiang Mai Thailand. It was a Thai fighter vs a Foreigner and it was an absolute battle with both fighters going for the knockout from the start. The fight ended in KO where one of the cornermen jumped into the ring punching one of the fighters! Chaos then followed..

Hey UA-cam! Surprised to see me up here haha.
My team and I have offered our deepest apologies to the opposing gym the next day. They also sent a representative the day after the fight to apologise.
I take full accountability for my misbehaviour - it was a heat-of-the-moment reaction, and I wish I had not reacted like that.
My words were "Don't get up" x3. I screamed this due to adrenaline/fear but also because I wanted him to stay down and let the fight be over.
For some backstory, this is my first fight. I have trained Muay Thai for 2.5 months. My opponent has had 6 fights and has trained for a few years. To balance this out, I enjoyed a 4 kg weight advantage. (me: 67kg, opponent: 63kg)
My opponent and I talked a bit before the fight. We both agreed to no elbows - but ultimately he suggested a "sabai sabai" fight - meaning relaxed in Thai. He kept pressuring me to agree to a sabai sabai fight, which I said ok to (from what I understand is common in Chiang Mai). From my perspective, it would be a good opportunity to have a high-pressure learning environment.
However as you can see, in the first round he tries to knock me out. So much for "sabai sabai". I hope one can understand my eventual emotional reaction to this duplicity.
I wish I didn't shout over him at the end. But in the moment I needed him to know he needed to stay down.
Thank you Dustin for capturing this on film.
Both gyms have communicated to each other and there is no bad blood.
P.S. The guy that jumped into the ring got out of jail 2 days ago. Keep an eye on his bag if you rewatch the video

Also, Dustin should be able to vouch that I tried to touch gloves with him in Round 2, to which my opponent shrugged off

Hey man, thanks for sharing more details on what went down.
Btw I didn’t notice him reaching into his bag until you just mentioned.. it seems things could have been much worse off!
I hope you don’t think I was trying to make you look bad by posting this. I realize that it was your first fight and dealing with the adrenaline can be overwhelming and I’m sure you learned from the experience and that most people watching would agree !
You showed you have heart and if you continue to train you’ll only get better. It was a hell of a battle and very tough first match up.
I’m also glad to hear both sides squashed the beef afterwards but imo that guy that sucker punched you was way out of line and just a couple days in jail almost seems like a slap on the wrist.. but wth do I know about how the law works 😂

The boy in the red t-short shirt should not have entered the ring and attacked the contender. This could have had very bad effect on the Thai team and disqualification might be at hand.

Understandable reaction from both sides. One side won after almost losing. Had a 4kg weight advantage and huge height advantage also.first fight. Still disrespectful shouting over his opponents body, adrenaline/excuses don't matter. But understandable.
But if you're gonna be disrespectful especially in a foreign country, don't blame the locals for pulling out the consequences. The Australian coaches knew that at least, they were smart to not jump in otherwise the whole team would be leaving with missing teeth from being shot or pistol whipped
