Every single time!! It never fails!! The upside to the AC nests is that they’re easy to clean when it comes time to move the colony but I would gladly take a tarheel nest over ac any day because the nests stay clean and don’t mold as easy (so long as dead insects aren’t in the nest part of the formicarium).
@@tennesseeantkeeper8206 I recently moved my C. Novaboracencis from a Tarheels fortress to a Wakooshi G3 XL and so far they’re loving it. But getting them to move out of the fortress was a challenge of course since they LOVED the fortress lol
My formica didn’t want to move either but drying the nest out helped. I’m just glad the queen moved asap and that helped encourage the workers to move as well lol!
Nice vidio mate I know it's not important but a good way to tell the difference between stalagmites and stalactites is stalactites hold tight to the roof and stalagmites might grow to the roof lol.
Wait! How did you get a dual queen colony? Did you catch them or put two queens together during founding stages? I was under the impression that americanus is monogomous.
Great video! I really enjoyed watching it. Keep the content coming. lol I am getting my first Tar Heel Ant formicarium and starter ant colony sometime soon.
I ended up doing that off camera. They were still in the outworld for a very long time. Lasius love to explore so removing the liquid feeders and stuff wouldn’t have made all of them leave the outworld. 😀
hey i am also a ant keeper and love ants but dont know the name of my antsis there a chance that i kan send you a photo and you can help me and if possible how
Good looking formicarium I think they will be happy there for a while!
I agree! They have so much room for activities in the nest at the moment! Lol
Agree with you on Tarheels over AC. One problem with AC is the bottom moisture area always gets moldy.

I'm 11 and in Tennessee. I love my queens
That’s so cool!
11:28 😅17 is my favorite number too exaggerate with when I'm being silly with my son (8yo)!!!
7 and 17 are always the go to!
Nice colony

I will butcher this but I do appreciate it! 😂
I would have just dried out the old nest and removed the food stuff from the old outworld. Than shined the light like you did on the old nest.
I just call them pointy cave rocks lol
All in favor of calling them pointy cave rocks say I
great video
Good vid

I caught them both during the same nuptial flight then put them together in a tube!
@@tennesseeantkeeper8206 Thanks.

That’s awesome!! It’s very exciting!!
Nice setup 👍 Subscribed
Um... wouldn't it have been a good idea to remove the liquids and foods from the old outworld to help move them all into the new one? lol

This XXL Min Hearth was a two chamber version right? It seems like it was.
Yes 2 chamber for small ant species
Why the ugly fluon streaks in the new outworld? They dont have to look like that! Otherwise great vid, thnx!
I got shaky hands and haven’t mastered the art of the fluon trail lol!!!
