Your summary really sits with my car at the moment also which is an Audi E tron, when you first see it and drive it you think hmm not sure what this is all about....however when you spend time with it (on a decent journey) it starts to make sense. The comfort, the cosseted feel, the space and overall feeling the car is "looking" after you. Great review as usual and keep up the good work 👍
I have an EQE 350+, RWD, Pinnacle Trim, 4 degree rear wheel steer, Airmatic Suspension, and a few more options all under 86K. The only thing it won’t have is the new decoupling of the motors and new thermal mgmt system… The car is geared toward couples w/o kids, no race track necessary, and enjoy the ambience of driving no more than 300 miles to visit family and friends…
Same here. Totally agree. The review's conclusion, in my view, was not the best. How do you gauge a new car against used ones? I would not spend 85k on a used car. Additionally two wrong comments were made. 1) the rear view is limited yes. "why design a car like this if you have no limitations?" I guess aero does count to this gentleman here. 🤷♂ 2) he doesn't like the EV platform. Really? 380 miles WLTP? Yes, its not a race car... If needed one I could easily get a faster car for less....a Model 3 performance for example. But that's a pile of crap (PS: I own a Model Y too... so I know the car I have).
About the options to the EQE, i think it is a English problem :) Here in Denmark i bought it with headup display as a option, stand alone for 16.000 DKK Just to let you know :)
Had me amg 350 premium plus now for 4 months. Definitely in the warmer months getting 309+ miles on a full charge, but down at just over 200miles in days when it’s freezing. Brilliant car easy to use, parking great with 10 deg 4 wheel steering and air suspension makes it so comfortable. A bit overwhelming to start with as you can do so much. My only criticism is the MBUX system whilst being a great system it can be very laggy and slow at times. Not a lover of the lux model featured here. It’s the same cost at £90k but the prem plus has so much external styling that the lux doesn’t. Same goes with the interior. The AMG premium plus is by far the nicer and better option. Rear privacy glass, different rear bumper, much nicer 21 inch wheels, nicer dash finish and steering wheel, seats much sportier but without leather and at exactly the same price as the lux.
I’m going mad. I started to play, or thought I did, a new video of you in the snowy Cotswolds and the new Atto3. Now I can’t see or find it anywhere. Did I imagine it?
No Chris, you aren't going mad. It was this week's video that went live yesterday at 7pm, however due to some technical error I hadn't realised whilst loading, it chopped off the last 9 minutes of the review. I only knew about it when a viewer contacted me asking what had happened! Anyway, I'm reloading (the full version!) which should hopefully go live later this evening. Apologies to you and everyone who tried to watch it. Bryan.
You have to gauge the market, you don’t want to annoy your core buyers. Like Range Raver, BMW 7 series, these buyers don’t want a car to look any different to their last one, they are not buyers for wacky designs, they go to meetings in business looking cars not clown cars like the EV6 even Hyundai know this, hence the Hyundai premium named cars.
Hi. Thank you for a great road test. May I kindly ask for a EQE53 AMG test?) It will be great to see how performance and battery life go hand in hand. Thanks.
i got a EQE350 and im wondering if that "noise" you're talking about is the "sound experience" feature. basically adds some futuristic noises when u step on the pedals and all that. funny u mentioned the exterior styling. i gravitated towards this car because of the shape. because it's like an EQS but cheaper. for me it's the interior that i don't like, especially for rear passengers, that i dislike. that center cupholders for the rear seats just feel so cheap. and coming off a tesla, when it comes to driver assists, i prefer an autopilot system that's either all on or all off. so it's clear who's in control of the car. with the mercedes "gentle tug", sometimes i wasn't even sure why im getting the feedback from. and there's a momentary confusion because the car doesn't quite tell me what im doing wrong. in this regard, i prefer the tesla system to just take over completely until i figure out what's happening.
Looks hideous specially from the side but fully optioned looks fantastic from the inside. Great that it’s not yet another Chelsea’s tractor. Hopefully it’s a bit shorter outside so easier to park and manoeuvre. What does it drive like?
Erm, have you not watched the video??? There’s a whole section on how it drives. That’s sort of the point of me doing these reviews, to tell you what it’s like at the end……
@@AutoEV yes I watched that I commented before the end. Sounds interesting There is getting to be some real choice out there now. Looking forward to BMWs Nue Classe/ 3 series. Just hope it’s not like the I5, colossally heavy
I am glad I’m not the only one who noticed the steering wheel arc obscuring the driver’s display (as soon as I powered it up). It smacks of lazy design, where the look of the cabin outweighs practical usage. It needs a display mode where the important info (like speed) is in the centre and in a large font. I would have to have a HUD, which in the EQE is good. The car is too big, so I was encouraged when you said there is an EQC sedan in the offing. As someone who rarely has rear seat passengers, to have an long range executive EV sedan that is a foot shorter than the EQE would be a better ‘fit’ (pun intended).
On aerodynamics. Let's slab a plate on to ruin the windtunnel cW 😄 Plate ruin many intended design. I like the car as a luxury package. Not the interior design perse.

Exterior design team will need to have a ‘come to Jesus’ moment prior to the second generation. Interior design is a strong point at Mercedes, of late.
Since when is the taycan and e-tron price lower than the EQE? Those are at the price range of the EQS. Inform yourself when before spreading misinformation
Porsche Taycan RWD starts from £75,000 and the Audi e-tron GT starts at £85,000. This EQE was £89,000. Perhaps I’m not the one who needs informing? But thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
@@joaopedrofonseca2300 because I’m comparing them to the car we tested which was £89k. But even at that price, you can add quite a bit onto a base Taycan, or even move up to a Taycan S and still be better off. It’s a comparison to the car we are testing. Don’t change the rhetoric to suit your argument. An EQE300 in base trim at £75k is a different car to what we tested.
Hello, a very thorough review, but you could do it in 30 minutes. Nearly an hour is far too long. I skipped most of it. I hope you take this feedback in the spirit that it is intended!
Amazing that Mercedes blundered so badly on the screen placement. I noticed that on my test drive and immediately ruled out the standard model. I had to order the hyperscreen, which although expensive, fixed the problem for me.
Very detailed review as usual.

If I was a passenger who had nodded off then woke to see that dashboard I would assume it was Sunday morning after a hard night out.

The glaring flaw is the fact that the steering is on the wrong side.
LOL, glad to see that the voice controls are just the same as when Jeremy Clarkson reviewed it about 20years ago

Is there EQ GLE ?
There’s an EQE SUV coming out. And that’s what it’s called- the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV.
I just ordered one as a company car, £150 per month is an absolute steal for an £82k specced car
Same issue with brakes in EQC.

Expensive vaporware. Depreciation on EVs is extreme, like 10-15% per year. EV sales are tanking...

Ruined by Way 2 many adverts, F off with these crappy ads for shampoo when im looking for a car!!!
Apologies, but that isn’t our doing I’m afraid. We don’t control the adverts on UA-cam.
The front looks somewhat ok, but the rest of the car just ugly… 😟
“To be honest with you” I wish I hadn’t wasted a half hour on this review.
But you did, and your view counts. So thanks anyway. Appreciate the comment.
Steering wheel controls are rubbish
