Are you aware of the British brand Montane? Might be difficult to source where you live. Have an extensive range of outdoor apparel for trekking, trail running, fast packing etc and competitively priced. Would be great to get your views on some of their products. Keep up the great work!
Rab states the microlight is a regular fit but it’s a slim fit. I’m a large in Patagonia lightweight down and synthetic jackets and they fit me perfectly. This time I decided to give the Rab microlight Alpine a try due to the great reviews. I ordered a large online and it’s unwearable as it is way too tight across the chest and torso.
Hello! Thanks for the review. Does the Rab jacket fit tighter than the Patagonia one? I own a Down Sweater S and it fits me perfectly but not loose. Any suggestion?
That is a nice looking Down Sweater. But is it warmer. The first yr they came out I bought one and still have it albeit beat-up, worn and repaired. Bought a newer one about 4 yrs ago and it is not very warm. Fingers crossed the new version is warmer.
the new down sweater is going to be warmer. As far as Arcteryx it just depends which jacket you are looking at from them. The cerium is closest to the down sweater. I have a vid coming soon comparing the two models in their newest versions.
@@BackcountryRenegade thanks, looking forward to the video, currently deciding between the Pata Down Sweater, Arc Cerium/ Throium, Rab Electron/ Microlight so it would be useful
I had a Patagonia sweater, not hooded, size M, for several years. After multiple patch repairs- general ware and tear I upgraded to the Rab micro light hoody. I bought a size L because the M felt too tight. I'd also bought a Rab neon fleece L because it fitted better than the M. As nice as the Rab is I'd go buy another Patagonia sweater tomorrow, there's something not quite right about Rabs sizing. Maybe it's patogonia is more mid layer & Rab is more outer. Both great jackets. I'd go Patogonia for my personal body shape
@@Chris-sd6os I've found the Rab is just a bit more roomy, fine if your wearing a mid layer /fleece etc under it. With my old Patagonia it feels great over just a t shirt..or a mid layer. I think I may trade my Rab for a 800 fill warmer better fitting hoody sweater..
@@BackcountryRenegade thanks for that... If you don't mind whats your height and chest size.... I'm looking to buy both these Jackets ready for the winter...

thanks, im not aware of them, but sounds like good stuff. I'd love to check them out if I can get some this way
Great comparison vid. More power to you.
Ordered both of these and the Rabs material is definitely higher quality.

Rab does us EU sizing so you usually need to size up compared to Patagonia. But yes they are a bit slim too

The newest version has more down then previous one so it will be warmer. U can see a link in the description to it
The Rab Electron down jacket is incredible. Its far superior to the microlight and is a similar weight 🙌 thanks for the comparison and great review
Yes i love the electron. Maybe my favorite offering from Rab
It's warmer. That doesn't make it better. They serve a different purpose.
No Recycled Down❗️ most other materials are ok. Also read about the process and problems with the “hydrophobic coating” on down.
RAB wins this battle for me.
Bonjour so which one is the best ?
Hi, Did you get the information about the increase weight of down from Patagonia? Thanks again.
Yes it was listed in their web site when they did the change in 2023. It is a noticeable difference in weight and warmth between the two
@@BackcountryRenegade Great thanks.
Which is warmer in your opinion? How do they compare to arcteryx and outdoor research competing models?

Is the Rab jacket a slimmer cut? I’ve had problems with finding correct size in Rab before.
Yes it is more of a slimmer fit Then the Patagonia

@@dandibbly9230 I agree - Patagonia in medium fits me well but I seem to be between a Medium and Large in RAb

How does the rab compare to the arcterix cerium lt?
cerium is warmer and a fits better imo, but is more expensive
What size are the jackets please
Both are size small
