I was waiting on your review before I jumped all in… and here we are. We are selling all of our apelabs, or make of them… and picking up these. What a game changer.
Daryl, Bret Gash here I'm friends with Brian T. I really like this video. Very clear and easy to follow. I'd like to come shadow you at a gig sometime soon and see these in person. I love all your gig set ups.
that is a fantastic set!!! and the magnet mounts are an awesome idea!! what I did was to get automotive magnet mounts just cause I'm a bit OCD with the vibration and them falling off. also them being so tiny makes them inconspicuous to curious hands
You can have one IR4 be a master for all of the other IR4s, and then have one titan tube be a master for all of the other tubes. That's probably the best workflow with no DMX
As someone that bought a few set of apes… I agree. I’m moving to these as well. The fact that they don’t work easily with DMX and need an entire different round of gear.
Great information. I'm a rookie, so i have a question. When you have so many lights (IR-4) and using a DMX Controller like SS, do you just program 1 light to your DMX Controller and master/slave the rest? or do create program each light to its own set of channels? Thanks
When you master slave them, you essentially make the master be the transmitter. Its better to have each light share the same DMX address than master slave. My show has 6 unique addresses
@@DJDarylBennett hi , im a bit confused. when you put them in master slave if i got it right, you control the first light , the master, with the control and all the rest of them in slave will follow what the master is doing , correct? now, when you said it's better each light share the same dmx address but then say you have 6 unique addresses , that got me lost. lets say first light is number 001, what do you do with the other 39 lights? leave all of them in 001? or you put for example 5 lights in 001, then 5 lights in 011, 5 lights in 021, etc? like spliting the dmx per number of fixtures? to be clear, i still have the wired old models and im looking to buy some lights with wireless dmx but they are so expensive, like 2/3k for 10 lights. these for 600 sounds amazing, even though they dont appear to be very bright, the color dies in your video about 1m above the floor. but the price point is amazing and enough for weddings up to 100 ppl id say. thanks
They're excellent units. So inexpensive, cases are nice and light, and you can fully map them in Soundswitch. So far been using them in M/S mode due to internal antennas. Also, easily fit 5 lights per bag. No need for a protective case like a pelican. Theyre well protected in the bags. Love mine.
They truly are awesome! Personally I am using the pelican case for convenience and because they were laying around in my garage. I find it more convenient to have two cases of 20 rather than 8 cases of 5. But just my preference!
Hey Daryl, thank you for all your educational material! I have a question. I got the Soundswitch micro dmx cable...can I use my Donner Wireless to communicate via soundswitch with the Both mini uplights? or is it a different protocol?
You mentioned they are able to be DMX'd and I think I saw a signal icon on the screen. If you're using the Donner-type dongles, do you have the ability to link the Donner signal to connect to the IR4?
Thanks for the video. The earlier version would not allow the use of the the Remote while in Master Mode and with the add of the digital read out this sounds like a great improvement. Question, will a a Master Both control my Rockville RFs. I recently purchased.
Thank you! Yes I do. I use a donner dongle, set these on DMX mode and that's basically all there is to it! I can make a quick video next time I set them up
Hi Daryl, I've been following you on UA-cam for a long time, I really like your videos. As a result, I recently bought a set of Bothlighting IR4 and Soundswitch with Control One. I would like to ask for your help, because I can't control them via DMX! /Everything is fine with the other lights: ADJ Focus Spot 4Z, ADJ Element Hexip, Cameo Par6./ The Soundswitch settings and management are correct. I probably don't set the IR4 right, they don't communicate with the Wifi beacon. What am I setting wrong? Thanks, Norbert
Hi. How’s your buying experience from them, did it came with no defects, if there was, was it easy to contact them for replacement? I am planning to get 8 pcs of this but just worried if how easy there customer service just in case there is a problem with them when they arrive.
I bought 40 IR4's and none of them had defects. I can't promise that you wouldn't get any defects. They have a 1-year warranty. Customer service is about as good as a Chinese company can be, but it's not going to be Amazon level of support.
In the back of the manual, they claim about 20 hours on a single color and 6-8 with mixed. I've had them on for 10 hours for a gig and they had battery left over.
That's a great question to ask Both Lighting Direct! But from looking at their website, it looks like they'd ship from the California warehouse, if they're in stock.
@@DJDarylBennett For my uses, they are merely accent lighting and i can not use them as totem lights or uplights are they are noticeably dimmer. Love the size and wireless dmx tho.
@DJDarylBennett I measured 4 of the soft cases that in total hold 20 lights. The dimensions seem to be a perfect fit for the pelican. It seems like I could skip the foam and use the Pelican 1615 with 4 bags of lights. Is there any chance you can confirm this?
Thank you for your response, are you talking about wirelles dmx? If yes, I am using these ones, but I am not sure how I could connect all pars and moving head lights to the program
Uplights are often too bright, so brightness is not what I look for in the specs. Battery life is more important and the ability to dim all lights simultaneously during the event when it gets darker.
Rockville white labels Both lighting products, but as of right now they don't have the IR versions for sale, only the RF which I don't recommend if you're wanting to DMX them.
I received them and have them all about figured out. I set them on master/slave and they work great. Can you tell me how to shut off the IR to the slaves so you don't accidentally make them masters? Thank you
Nice but I think the phrase "game changer" is thrown around too much. Lets be honest. The ape labs stuff is way over priced. Glad someone called them out on it. They are gonna lose a lot of sales
