Love your dolls. You are mesmerizing. I could listen to you for hours. Your love for these dolls shines through because you accept them with their imperfections. I hope you come back to share more of your dolls with us soon!! Thank you for your wonderful and very thoughtful presentation.
That was a WONDERFUL personable presentation! Really LOVE your affection for your treasures. Hope you do more presentations and THANK YOU SO MUCH for this one!
I want to share something with you. My mother was very, very poor when she was a little girl. She didn't own any toys at all, just a couple of paper dolls. Her dream things she wished she had was a Nancy Ann Storybook doll, and a red Schwin bike. Her childhood friend had a large collection of the story book dolls and she was just in awe. When it was her birthday, I bought two Storybook dolls that were made when she was 10 years old. They came in the original red and white polka dot boxes she used to talk about in addition to the dolls. She was so dazzled and charmed by those red, and white polka dot boxes. She unwrapped the boxes, and she was stunned and deeply touched. She told me she needed a minute. She was silent and held the dolls and cried a tiny bit. It was a truly powerful moment. I said mom, I know you are an adult, but you finally got your dolls! She said, hey! that is fine with me better late than never! She greatly cherishes them. That gave me a lot of joy to get those dolls for her. Best to you! Thank You once again for the super video!
Absolutely in love with your collection. Thank you so much for sharing. Margaret O'Brien and Shirley favor highly in my collection as well, so felt our kindred affection for these gorgeous works of art.
You are so cute and funny! Such a nice presentation with the old music and everything. I could totally relate to you. I've always loved antiques and old things. I'm currently a history teacher and dolls are one of the things that I enjoy their history and style.
Love the dolls. I collects from the 40s and 50s. Having trouble finding a good Sonja Henie doll…but continue to look. You you have such a great collection!
Thank you so much for your great presentation! It was so entertaining and fun! I really enjoyed seeing your dolls and hearing about all the interesting information about the celebrities. So many stories about them that I never heard about before. I hope you will be back for a future convention to share more dolls in your doll room that we got a peak of in the background! I would love to hear the stories behind the dolls and info. on how they came into your collection.
Thank you so much Cheri Miller for giving us an in depth look at these wonderful Movie Star Celebrity Dolls! I've never paid much attention to composition dolls but after seeing Sonja Henie, Shirley Temple, Deanna Durbin and others, I was quite taken with them. And the male dolls like W.C. Fields and his doll buddies - my goodness how well done they are! I really enjoyed your style too, Cheri - here you are on the silver screen at last! Thank you so much Rachel Hoffman, for providing such wonderful Virtual Doll Convention content - it's a real pleasure to be here.
LOVED your presentation. I have Sonia Henie, Shirley Temple and Margaret O'brien dolls, also. And I, too, love the had plastic and composition dolls. Believe I also have one of the dolls on a shelf behind where you were speaking. Your collection looks truly amazing. Thanks for your presentation.
Thank you so much for sharing your doll collection with the world. I am very fond of Shirley Temple myself. I have a collection of 200 dolls...all Shirleys. However, most of mine are the 12" and 15" vynal dolls. I have maybe 15 composition dolls...most of these need a lot of work. I have to start down sizing as I am getting on in age and I have no chidren or family that are interested in my lovely collection of Shirleys. I love your dolls.
I do have a Jane Withers doll! a dear Doll friend was selling her Deanna Durbin, which I purchased from her, and she said she also had a Jane Withers. So I bought both of them! They are lovely! And I adore composition dolls from the 30's and 40's as well. I have a half dozen Shirley Temple dolls, and I just acquired a Sonja Henie. I see that Sonja dolls have 2 facial expressions, so my next Sonja will be the more smiling version. Your collection is wonderful!
Thank you so much ! You and your video team did a great job sharing the star dolls . wonderful prop and stage management. I also looked longingly in the background at your doll room. Please consider a collection visit. :D I'd love to hear more about you and your total collection. I'm a beginner and I can see how diverse and carefully your dolls are displayed. I 'd learn from you
I just came across your video, and I love it!! Your collection is just breathtaking! May I ask you a question? What is going on with people today who commonly refer to dolls as creepy? They have commercials showing people afraid of dolls, and people making ridiculous comments about people owning them. My mother hit the ceiling becuase she is so annoyed with people demonizing dolls! ridiculous! I totally agree, and I think it's sad and disturbing. You have to ask yourself, what next are they going to demonize? Something is wrong with our society today. I have many books on antiques, and I have a book on dolls of movie stars. I think the book is around 40 years old. I just love the book. It mentions a Rudoph Valentino boudoir doll, and it was worth A LOT in the 1980s. It seems like he is very rare. Also, many moons ago, I remember there was an auction house who auctioned off movie memorabilia in Los Angles. One of the items up for auction was a Clara Bow doll dressed in a slip. She was posed as if she was blowing a kiss. It was adorable, but the starting bids were very high. That was the only time I saw a Clara Bow doll.
What a wonderful collection of dolls! I love them I also love composition dolls and have too many 😂 I have over 500 dolls but my favourite ones are Deanna Durbin she was such a wonderful actress and so pretty with a beautiful voice my 94 year old grandma always tells me that as a young lady she was always told to follow Deanna's example of how to dress behave and carry herself which I think is so sweet. I think I have 29 Ideal Deanna dolls they are so pretty and the likeness is so good. I have a few composition Shirley dolls as well which are beautiful my biggest regret is selling one of my Shirley dolls she was absolutely mint in her original box not a craze or mark on her but I keep looking for another. I've also got the Teen Judy Garland dolls dressed in the 'Strike up the band' dress and two beautiful Judy Dorothy dolls. There is something about dolls they just capture your heart. Thank you for sharing your beautiful collection.
